Why Grand Junction, CO, Should Be Your Next Weekend Getaway - AFAR

"A Denver-founded winery that shifted to using exclusively Colorado-grown fruit, purchased the former Garfield Estates property plus two vineyards, and opened a tasting room in Palisade with a rooftop patio offering panoramic views of Mount Garfield and Grand Mesa; the operation is experimenting with teroldego and betting on sparkling, high-acid Colorado-style prosecco well suited to the region’s minerality." - Kelly Bastone

Google
Absolutely amazing experience!! We did wine tasting here and loved it!! The views from the rooftop patio are amazing, probably our favorite in the area! And the vibes of this place are great. We loved the wine here and just loved sitting on the rooftop patio area drinking wine, listening to the music, enjoying the views, and relaxing. Would definitely recommend!!

Love the scenery and the ambience. Customer service was really BAD. I have been a wine clue member of the Littleton Carboys for more then 7 yrs. I would say hands down go to Littleton Carboy’s❣️While in Palisades find a different winery. Only reason giving 2 stars is the scenery is very picturesque. When in Littleton get there 59 vin. Amazing wine!!! Thanks for your response. But I was not there at five minutes to close. I was there for over two hours. Your menu said I got free tasting if I bought two bottles of wine I bought four bottles of wine. I should’ve gotten two free tastings you took off of my membership free tastings after I purchased two bottles of wine and gave you a tip. That’s just some of the customer service issues that I encountered there. The attitude was the worst.

Great local winery that has wonderful wines. Very picturesque! Come see their tasting room and enjoy the views! Previously wrote: “Had a great glass of Cabernet Franc!”

Carboy has breathed new life into the old Garfield Estates, vastly improving both the wine and tasting experience offered on this gorgeous property. Their facilities are immaculate and service impeccable. Palisade proper has needed something closer to the "Restoration vibe" and Carboy delivered wonderfully. Play lawn games while listening to the band, or enjoy the stunning views from their rooftop patio. Order a board of snacks and ham it up with friends touring the wine trial in a fun and lively tasting room. There are many vibes to choose from and they are all good. All of this is close to town and is thankfully open much later than 5 on weekends. There is a large variety of wines, (most of great quality) as well as beer and seltzers if you happen to just be tagging along with some vino enthusiasts. You'd be hard pressed not to enjoy yourself here. Best of all, Carboy's commitment to sustainability from vine all the way to your glass is commendable to say the least. The drought in the west is showing no signs of going anywhere, and I wish more folks in town would follow their shining example of making good wines while being better stewards to the land giving it to them. Thanks Carboy!

Honestly, wish we could give more than 5 stars! Carboy in Palisade is such an amazing place. Great staff, delicious wine, gorgeous views, and so much more! We hosted our wedding at Carboy this May, which was an incredible experience! James, Maggie, and the rest of the Carboy staff made us feel so much at home. It was the perfect spot for our intimate ceremony and reception, and a great place to show off the gorgeous views the Grand Valley has to offer. Everyone loved all the wine that was offered, from reds (the Zweigelt is a must have), whites, and sparkling! You really can't beat this place. Been to essentially all the wineries in Palisade and we keep coming back to Carboy. Their wine club is also a great deal, with a free glass of wine a month, free flights, and 3 releases a year. The other great thing about this property is the amazing rental house onsite. We used this for our wedding as well and, not only did it save us from some serious stress, it was a gorgeous, spacious, newly-renovated house. Great for any gathering! Amazing wine tasting experience! Feel the gentle breeze while you sip sensational wine. I highly recommend the Petite Pearl and the La Crescenta! The charcuterie board is wonderful with quality rich food! The fig jam is amazing with the Doubliner cheese. So relaxing and enjoyable! The service team is first rate. If you’re looking for a cathartic experience, this is the place for you.

Great wine, beautiful view, and the ambiance is fantastic. The service on the other hand is pretty terrible. Only two ladies working on a busy Saturday afternoon, not only did it appear under staffed but the ladies felt like they were going out of their way to avoid us. Like I said the wine is great so I will return, but hopefully the service improves.

As a wedding and event planner I can not say enough amazing things about Carboy Winery! They are always very quick to respond and make accommodations and are such a pleasure to work with while there! They have the perfect outdoor balcony for your next event! Rehearsal dinners, baby showers, bridal showers, birthday parties and more! And let's not forget about the delicious wine and charcuterie boards! Here are a few photos from a recent proposal we planned!

Yelp
Carboy was so beautiful and I would recommend this winery to anyone! They have $17 tasting per person with live music and beautiful patio that is covered!! It is very kid friendly and they were also selling palisades peaches!

Yelp
It was absolutely amazing!! From the service to the very last drink. It was worth the stop.

Yelp
2nd stop of the day was an improvement!! The tasting room is spacious and inviting. Screams vineyard. Ample seating indoors as well as outdoors up top on the second floor. The views are endless and breathtaking. The wine was good, the service was excellent and the pricing was reasonable. I would recommend stopping by when in Palisades!

Yelp
My husband and I think it's important to support our local businesses and while the wine industry in CO is still working out some kinks, Carboy has a lot figured out. We like the variety of wine and they have some nice bold reds. The winery in Grand Junction is one of our favorites to visit because you can sit on a large deck that overlooks the vineyard. They also have an air conditioned room for when it's just too hot to be outside though that Space is small. Additionally, they serve some food which is always good when wine tasting! And the food is delicious. We are members at Carboy and can pick up our wines in Denver at another of their locations and that is also a lovely venue. The people are always friendly at both locations. This time our tastings came but the server didn't tell us about the wines. Our group was a bit disappointed about that because we like to learn about what we are drinking. I look forward to visiting again in early summer!

Yelp
I've been to the one in Denver and it was a good experience. The one in Palisade was nice but I think we went too close to closing time because the staff was pretty ready to be done for the night. It's a cute winery and the tasting room was nice, not too big but big enough for a few small groups. The tasting amount was a good pour.

Yelp
BEST WINERY IN PALISADE!! We did the private winemaking tour and tasting with the owner, James, and it was AMAZING! This was apart of our honeymoon and it was so special. All of his wine is well crafted and insanely good. He grows his own grapes right there and is so hands on with the creation of all his wines. Also, his dog is the cutest. Please do yourself a favor and go to this winery & vineyard.

A beautiful location with amazing service and delicious wines. Dog friendly patio.

Yelp
Great wine, friendly staff, beautiful scenery. Prices were fair and there was options for snacks if interested

Yelp
Amazing wine experience! Easy to find off the highway and convenient parking in a small lot. We walked right in and were immediately helped by the friendly bartender. Wine was excellent (we had the Pinot Noir) and the views were spectacular with sweet vistas of Mt Garfield. Bathrooms were impeccably clean. Awesome experience! Huge uplevel from the tasting room in Breck.

Yelp
What a nice discovery! When I was having a small talk with a lady who sat next to me at the tasting bar of some small winery in Palisade last month, I took notice of a Carboy Winery sticker on her water bottle (as I had a pleasure of visiting its Santa Fe location in Littleton.) She then told me that there is/was a brand new location which just opened up on G Road in Palisade. What?? I had to go check it out! I was at my max capacity of alcohol consumption after visiting more than several wineries in town earlier that day so I stepped in just to check out this new location/facility. The lady at the tasting bar was so welcoming despite the fact that I wasn't there to sample. Nice open feeling inside. The new facility was (of course) spotless impeccably. On a very hot early summer day with temperature outside hitting mid 90's F, nice cool air inside allowed me to have a little sigh of relief from the exhausting heat. The same lady said to go up to the second floor patio for a nice view. The deck barely had anyone on it. Gosh, the nice view from it would make any wine sipping more than delightful. Too bad I couldn't do it; maybe next time!! I saw a beautiful flannel shirt on the merchandise shelf. It was a bit pricey but if this was my first winery to visit (of my Palisade winery getaway) I'd have bought it! I can always go to the Littleton location and buy it if I cannot forget about it, right? Well, I'm determined to make another trip to Palisade before the snow comes in late Oct or early November in 2022. And Carboy will be the first winery to visit for sure!

Yelp
Some of the best hospitality I have ever experienced in my entire life! I highly recommend stopping by if you are in the area. I would say it's even worth going out of your way to visit this establishment. Every wine I tasted was simply delightful. Such a beautiful and serene place to spend some time enjoying the scenery as well as the libations and the music. This place is truly a gem. My only regret is not purchasing a few bottles of wine to take home to Chicago and share with my friends as I tell them about the unforgettable experience I had at the Carboy Winery. I will also add that there was a food truck on site cranking out some scrumptious flavorful treats. For dessert I had a Chocolate Espresso cookie from a local company called Trail Cookie that I took to go. That darn cookie was so big and delicious I have literally been taking a bite a day to savor it. Hands down one of the most amazing cookies I have ever had. If love had a flavor it would be that cookie.

Yelp
Such a gem of a spot! First of all, yummy wine is a guarantee here. The staff were very friendly and they were busy! The view from their rooftop is amazing but when I arrived it was full so I sat down at the tables below, which is just as great! They have a lawn area in front of their vines with the most beautiful backdrop! Enjoyed a rose and a wine slushie! They had a grilled cheese food truck there called Underdog Cheese which was amazing also! I got prob the most non grilled cheese item, but I can't pass up Italian meats! Lol I can't wait to have another weekend trip back here and Carboy will always be a stop!

Yelp
Nice people, decent wines, but nothing super special. The food truck wasn't a highlight and detracted from the ambiance.

Yelp
We each had a tasting flight which are $15 for 5 wines! Only downfall is you have to drink the tastings in the tasting room but we did bring a tasting out in the patio and just had to go back in to get the next one! The cheese board was good but think I would go for one of the boards with more cheese next time. There was live music the day we were there and it really completed the winery vibe. Will be back!

Yelp
Love Carboy! Food is delicious and service is always outstanding! Ambiance is relaxing and fun! A must visit winery when in the area. Love Club Carboy and the benefits they offer!

Yelp
One of my favorite Palisade wineries! The location is tucked back along a country road. It is a gorgeous estate with a beautiful back deck patio that has wonderful views. The vibes and the vineyards surrounding are magical. They have a great selection of high quality wines spanning reds, whites and sparkling too. The tasting room staff is friendly and extremely knowledgeable. I enjoyed a tasting and they included a pour of their albarino which was incredible but not on the menu. I enjoyed every wine that I tried there and will certainly be back again next time I am in town.

Mark S.

Yelp
Great hosts and owner. Both spent time with us and we're very helpful. The wines are flavorful and well made.
