My friend's grandmother took us to the shop to look around. She was very excited to bring me here, as I had just spent five months studying in France. From what her grandmother explained, "everything in the store is imported from France," I had expected French chocolate and cookies and snacks and wine - basically, all of the items that I had loved while living in France, but couldn't get back in the United States. This is not what this store is! But I'll leave expectations aside.
The store is pretty cute; it has a nice layout. It's open and spacious, which I like, especially in stores with such fragile items. I don't want to feel like I could break something every time I turn around. So that was a plus.
What I was surprised to see was that the products they sell were mostly high-end, French items like dishware, soaps, and jams. No snack food. :( I believe they did have wine though! But I felt like most of this stuff could be found at any L'Occitane en Provence or other French boutiques. And most of it was very expensive. They had some really cool plates though with Marie Antoinette and Louis XVI's faces on them that I loved, but I definitely couldn't afford even one.
The two girls working at the shop weren't as friendly as one would like. They weren't rude, but we felt a bit ignored. One was busy crunching numbers, and the other was sitting at a desk in the rear. My friend's grandmother was trying to chat with them, and they didn't seem like they were having it. She's been to the shop quite a few times and recommends it to others, so I just felt bad that they didn't seem to want to engage with her.
Overall, it's a cute shop, but I don't think I could ever afford anything here. Nice to look around though.
