Cargills Food City - colombo

The security guards at this outlet are a real nuisance to some people. If a guy with long hair and a beard walks in carrying something, they follow him around like he's a thief until he picks up what he needs. This has happened to me a few times now, and it's honestly really annoying. I've even seen some young men arguing with them because of this behavior. I'm a regular at Keells and have never experienced anything like this there. I want to make it clear that not every Cargills Food City is like this—it's just this particular outlet. But it's been happening to me for several days now, and it's frustrating. I hope the management takes this seriously.

Opened on January 16th 2020. One of the biggest cargills super market around Pannipitiya. Has all the state of the art facilities and ample amount of space for parking. The place is fancy, neat and tidy. The staff is also quite friendly. They have some good deals for vegetables and other selected groceries.

Superb experience at very 1st day (16-01-2020) at Cargils good city Depanama. Star service with friendly staff . Available fresh meat, fish, vegetables, pharmacy and other consumable products.

14/05/2025 I went to foodcity to buy vegetables in the afternoon, my bill was 4,649.11/= When I got home and checked the bill, I realized that something was wrong. Then I weighed the vegetables again, and that's when I saw that each vegetable was 7/8 g less than the gram they had listed. There was a training girl weighing the vegetables there. Be more careful when you put the training team to work, I was just there because I couldn't come back from Piliyandala. Now foodcity services is the worst.

Good ambiance. Nice layout . There is lot of space between rows of shelves so you can navigate safely especially during these trying times. They have a big collection of household needs so you can complete your shopping in one place most of the time.

Parking was the only good thing. Limited variety of food and only one cashier was open. None of the customers were glad about this. There are no helpers to ask aid from l, leaving customers confused and lost. Overall not a good experience.

Quality of the goods have reduced drastically compared to the time this outlet was opened. Specially vegetables & seafood. So reducing from 5 stars to 1. Seems they are not giving enough attention to details. There are much better alternatives around the area who offers much better service.
