By far the worst experience, food and service I've experienced.
My partner had booked the Cargo Hold Valentines 2026 special which included an after dar aquarium tour for R1850.
The rain was pelting and we had to wait in the rain for 5 minutes. 90% of us didn't have umbrellas as the rain had just started upon arrival at Ushaka. We were all drenched.
The aquarium tour was first. They allocated half an hour but we were all done in 10 minutes as it was only a small portion of the Aquarium thay we were allowed to tour. In addition there were still members of the public in the aquarium with kids running around, shouting etc. As multiple couples that were in attendance, it didn't feel romantic at all.
Upon query, the staff advised that we can proceed to the restaurant. Yet again all of us were drenched as we had to run from the side aquarium entrance to the restaurant entrance in the pelting rain.
My partner and I were the first to arrive, our drink orders were taken. We waiting nearly 55 minutes for our food which was a platter that was already confirmed when payment was effected. Only upon query did our food arrive, note that we were the first one's to be seated.
Everyone was drenched and freezing, multiple requests were made to please lower the air-conditioning a little which fell on deaf ears.
The food was luke warm, unseasoned and dry. The rice was over cooked and mushy. The fries and vegetables were cold. My partner and I were starving and cold so we ate whatever could go down.
Some couples waited 2 hours for their meals. Some woke up and left, whilst the chef had to apologize to a few others.
After all this, an automatic 10% of the R1850 and the two cappuccinos we ordered were automatically added to the bill. Imagine paying R191 as a tip for service and food that was exceedingly poor.
None the less, we paid and left. It was definitely not worth the money nor experience. Complete waste.
If you're feeling for seafood, please just go to Ocean Basket or Julios on the bay, I wish we did.
