Cargo Hold Restaurant

Very nice place to relax and watch the sharks while you eat. We had the crays and prawns. Lovely garlic butter. Steak was cooked well and the Brulē was creamy but way too heavy on the sugar. Staff do need a tad more training. All and all a great experience.

We ordered the peri peri prawns, these were huge prawns ,the sauce was nice but a little on the sweet side. We also ordered the lamb shank, this was tasty. The overall aesthetics of the restraunt could have been better but you can view parts of the aquarium which we enjoyed.

Overall disappointed, but not bad. We came from overseas and really wanted to have the experience sitting next to the tank. Sitting by the tank was nice, but it was filled with trash and we got to watch a lays packet swimming with the sharks. The food was very underwhelming, it looks nice but it all came luke warm and the calamari was overcooked. The portions are also good sizes. The worst of all was the service, because of the website we knew we had to book in advance for a tank side table, so I booked 3 weeks in advance. When we got there they tried to seat us at a different table, and only after complaining they loved us. The entire time we were eating and drinking they were wiping the table over my shoulder. Definitely won’t be going back.

Walking in I was quite disappointed with the decor of the restaurant. Yes it is supposed to give off a vibe of a cargo hold of a ship, but as a result it leaves a cold and soulless atmosphere. The large wall to wall and floor to ceiling aquarium is a lovely display of a variety of fish and small shark. However, once you dig into the food all is forgotten as your attention is drawn to the delicious dish in front of you! I had the peri peri prawns, like I’ve done in several restaurants around the country, and this was easily the best peri peri prawns dish I have ever had. I will return easily just to have this dish again. Also at our table , the chicken breasts were ordered and it was juicy and very flavourful-you will not go wrong in ordering this as well.

If you want something intimate as well as different, more like under the sea 😜..... I'll surely love it

The prawns were excellent. The fish of the day had good quality, but no flavor. Of course the highlight is the fish. It's nice, but it would be nice if we were surrounded 360. If you're not sitting right next to the tank, you could miss some views. The cost is higher than near alternative restaurants, but the amount of food was much more. The family enjoyed it and they aren't easily impressed.

A beautiful place.We had prawns,steak and calamari.Everyone was happy with their meals.The portions are generous.Food didn’t take long prep.The waiter was attentive and professional. Everything was going superbly until the hostess(a black mid aged female) arrived and seemed irritated that we had small children(who were being kids - loud,restless).She asked that the kids sit on one side so they don’t disturb other patrons,which was a fair request we obliged to.She however continued to glare at us the whole time to the point of us deciding to just rather leave the establishment. Every restaurant has a right of admission,if you dont want small kids just say so instead of making patrons feel like they’re bothering you.
