If you have never been to a movie with a theater full of Puerto Ricans, you are truly missing out. It's better than Mystery Science Theater 3000. But on to the review. Old school theater with classic stadium seating. Reasonable prices for tickets and the food is down right cheap. You may not get refills included... But it's been 10 years since I paid $10 for a Popcorn and a Soda. The theater is clean and well kept. Not sticking to the floors or seats. Staff keeps up the cleanliness and is friendly and helpful. If you are in town and want to watch a movie... Its definitely worth stopping in. The sound balance in the theater is a little ruff. There were a few scenes that made my ears hurt. The screen is well lit, and the subtitles in Spanish weren't distracting.

We have been coming to Caribbean Cinemas at Plaza Las Americas for several months now, but the last two times were very disappointing, as the showtimes and movie type on the website were changed the DAY OF the movie. Two weeks ago we tried to come see a movie at a showtime that on the website said “Spanish Subtitles,” and when we got to the theatre it was marked “Spanish Dubbed.” On Sunday I checked the website to look at showtimes for today (Tues), and saw the movie we wanted to see was at 1:15 “Spanish Subtitles.” When we arrived to the theatre, the showtime was not available in the system and when I reloaded the website it was gone. I asked the employees to be told “showtimes can change day of,” which is not anything I’ve ever experienced before at a theatre. The updated website times show today’s 4:05 is now “Spanish Subtitles,” but when I ask the employees they tell me the 4:05 is “Spanish Dubbed.” We really liked this theatre and have come every week for the last 5 months, but planning a day around a movie time that can be changed/removed at the last minute isn’t how we want to spend our time. Why are there so many issues? 😔 (pictures for proof of changed showtime)

We enjoy the Movie! Great place I love the set up at the entrance with all the houses, light and The Morro like the Old San Juan. We saw the movie Best rated R Nice movie!!

We saw Crime 101 had a Great Time with my friend PePa. A must see 4sure!!

This is my theater of choice when I want to watch a movie. Always get good service here and theaters are comfortable. Sometime I notice that the sound in the movie theaters are too loud, I always have to put pieces of a napkin in my ears to deal with it.

This Theater Is Awesome, Let's Go Straight To It, The Atmosphere I Mean It's So Unfair Like It's Amazing With El Viejo San Juan Being The Entire Thematic And All Of It's Effort, Already Went To This Theater So Many Times Since It's Just So Great, Then We Got It's 2 CXC Rooms, Which At Least The Main One (In The Left) Is Really Great, Really Big, Loud And Overall Worth It, The Popcorn Is Always Really Good And Fresh, Even The Nachos, The Poster Selection Is Insanely Exaggerated But It's Great, There Is Literally 15 Rooms (14th Room Sux) And It's Really Filled Of So Much Variety, There Is So Many Standies Omg? But Now Analysis: Pros: Lots Of Rooms, (15) Amazing CXC, Insane Poster Hallways, Great Concession Zone, Nice Employees, (Even One That Saw Me Twice And Remembered Me!) Epic Standies, (They Still Got Barbie's Hidden In The Closed Concession 🤫) Great Screens And Sound, Epic Bathrooms (With Waiting Seats!?!?!) Cons: Strange Trailer Selections, (Sometimes) Another Closed Concession Zone 😓 Very Long Lines Everywhere, Also Check The Small Vid In The Bottom! Anyways This Theater Is A 4.8/5!

The experience watching the movie was good, but unfortunately we were very mistreated by the girl called Veronica Matos that works on the bomboniere. She would speak only Spanish really fast knowing that we couldn't understand in that pace. I said that I didn't understand her three times and then she screamed at me and went to her friends and cursed me out in spanish. She was terrible, had very unpleasant attitude right early on the day and I felt very offended by her behavior with me and my friend group. We had plans to come back next week for another movie but we won't because of her.

Yesterday, we went to see Avatar, and we were assaulted by two intoxicated teenagers who were drinking alcohol sold by the theater staff. Both teenagers were drunk. Two other people were also assaulted by these two. Out of fear of them, we had to leave the theater without seeing the film.

This is a good option to go to when you want to watch a movie. The best thing it has going for it is the location. It's in Plaza las Americas, so there's plenty to eat nearby.... of course, this depends on the time you go. The theaters are comfortable and well maintained. It has a game room, but it's small. As with every other Caribbean Cinema location, you can preorder your tickets online and pick them up without having to make the line at box office. Be prepared to find a long line at the concession stand. It's not as bad as Montehiedra, but try and arrive early to you screening to avoid a slow moving line.

Caribbean Cinemas is a chain of movie theaters in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean. This particular theater is located inside Plaza Las Americas mall. We decided to come watch a movie (Alita: Battle Angel) while on vacation in PR and this theater was just perfect! You can choose to watch the movie in English, Spanish or English with Spanish subtitles which is pretty cool. Tickets are about $7 or $4.50 for students for regular movies but they also offer 3D, IMAX and 4DX. Popcorn, food, drinks and snacks are so much cheaper than in the states making the experience so much better. The seats were very comfy and the bathrooms very clean as well as the theater in general. Decidimos venir a ver una película (Alita: Battle Angel) mientras estábamos de vacaciones en PR y ¡este teatro fue perfecto! Puede elegir ver la película en inglés, español o inglés con subtítulos en español, lo cual es bastante bueno. Los boletos cuestan alrededor de $ 7 o $ 4.50 para estudiantes para películas regulares, pero también ofrecen 3D, IMAX y 4DX. Las palomitas, la comida, las bebidas y los bocadillos son mucho más baratos que en los Estados Unidos, lo que hace que la experiencia sea mucho mejor. We were walking by here at 3:30pm on a Saturday and had an idea to see Mama Mia 2. Unfortunately the best showing was at 3:40pm. I asked the staff member standing beside an automated kiosk if I could buy my tickets there and he said only if I bought them online at least an hour prior--so much for that idea. The only way to get tickets was to stand outside in line with about 200 people, and of course not see the 3:40 show. So I got creative and just walked up discreetly on the side to one of the windows and bought a couple of tickets--they even let you choose where you want to sit. We chose the top and we were in our seats in minutes. There was about 20 minutes of commercials and previews and I went to get popcorn and a drink. They don't seem to believe in topping for your popcorn (like butter) so it was super dry to eat (no thanks). The audio and picture quality were top notch.

We like to check out movie theaters when in exotic or foreign places. Although PR is part of the U.S., the historic, culture, traditions, etiquette--its all one of a kind! Getting out of the tourist areas allowed us to get an even better feel of daily life here. Ok, so now to the Caribbean Cinema experience! The theater is in a large mall that's about 20 minutes from downtown San Juan. The inside is designed to look like a street scape of Old San Juan, complete with the old fort walls and traditional Spanish-style buildings. The lobby is really beautiful. On our trip we made it there right at movie time, but we didn't miss the opening scenes. The previews went on for a good half hour and people just kept coming in, filling the auditorium almost to capacity. The movie was in English with Spanish subtitles. Moviegoers here are very interactive with the films, so don't be surprise by uproarious laughter, clapping along to music and some funny audience commentary here and there. We got a couple donuts from the bakery--they were pretty good, had likely been in the pastry case all day tho. The lines for food and drink can be long and there was also a wait to buy tickets, so give yourself some time before the movie! Comfortable seats, perfectly climate controlled, clean restrooms and friendly staff.

I believe this is the theatre chain for Puerto Rico and if you wanted to see a current movie, this is where you'll go - as if you had any other choice. We made plans to see Spider Man Homecoming at this location long before we even came into town. The food at the concession was very affordable. Many, if not all, food items and drinks were under $6 if I remember correctly. I'm used to paying double or triple that at home. This was a very nice change to see but I did not order any food as I already ate. The theatre itself is fine and the concession and theatre staff was alright. The inside was decorated to look like Old San Juan and it was a charming touch. After waiting in line for about 20 minutes, we were finally able to go to our theatre. Now I'm no stranger to long previews. 30 minutes of previews are the norm for me back home. Here, they left the screen off until the advertised start time. After that, its about 45 minutes of mixed advertisements and previews. I wanted to scream after seeing the Dunkirk trailer 7 (!) times - yes SEVEN times - in English and Spanish. If you ever wanted to torture me, just have me sit through the previews at Caribbean Cinemas. FINALLY, we were able to enjoy the movie that we've been waiting for so long. It is normal for English language movies to have Spanish subtitles, as this was the case for us. There are some movies that are played in complete Spanish. Just be extra diligent when you're purchasing your ticket(s) that you select the correct language you want to watch it in. Some tips: You can order tickets in advance online. Again, just be diligent on selecting the correct language you want to watch your movie in. If you prefer to buy tickets in person, get there early as movie going is a very popular activity to do in PR. The theatre food is very affordable if you would like to have a meal while watching a movie. I wish I didn't eat breakfast before the movie as eating here instead would've saved me a lot of money.

This movie theater is located in the mall by old navy. Second floor. Literally next door to soft and creamy. It's a pretty ordery theater. Prices are cheap. $7.50 for an adult. Seats are pretty comfortable. Sound and screen for puerto Rico isn't bad at all. There's sub text for you to read in Spanish since the movies are in English. Snacks are pretty cheap as well. They also sell skinny cow. There's an arcade. If you're bored and don't feel like going to a bar or club on your visit why not watch a movie. Prices are way cheaper than in California so I would highly recommend it. Caribbean cinema seems to be a chain here and this location belongs to them as well. Plenty of parking since its located in the mall.

An average theatre around San Juan that has your typical new release movies. The theatre itself is dated, not very clean, but has elevated seats which allow pretty much everyone to see the movie. My wife and I went here to watch Jumanji 2 while we were in San Juan and it was a good experience. Ads alternate between English and Spanish. Mainstream movies are mostly in English with Spanish subtitles. They do have a good variety of Spanish audio-only movies too. The best thing about this theatre are the prices. Honestly $4-6 cheaper for tickets than a movie stateside. The food and drinks are extremely cheap. A good comparable is my wife and I spent $30 here, which would've been about $45 in our local theatre in Virginia. The other positive is that this theatre is located in one of the biggest malls in Puerto Rico. You'll easily find something to do here while waiting for your showtime.

The theatre itself is really cool. As soon as you walk in it all looks like el Viejo San Juan. I really liked that. The individual theatre "rooms" vary in size. If you see in my pictures the one that I was in was pretty small. You should always ask if the movie is in spanish or in english with spanish subtitles. Student tickets: $4.50

Can''t be bothered to change out 3D lens to regular lens. Just watched the Arrival and could hardly see the screen. Boo!

The Plaza Las Americas cinema is very popular, but misses out on profitable opportunities by simply being more efficient. The management should take lessons from the Arecibo cinema which moves customers purchasing concessions through very quickly and efficiently. Considering the extremely high profit margins on the concessions, it is worth hiring the additional employees necessary to reduce the waiting line from over one hour to less than 15 minutes. Many potential customers are not purchasing concessions because they do not wish to miss the movie they came to watch. Each customer who walks away without purchasing concessions is slicing very deeply into the profit margin of the theater. I am surprised that this problem has not been recognized and corrected.

Super cute, charming movie theater. Came here during one of our stays in San Juan. Prices were much more affordable than back home.

Come here all the time when in San Juan.... great prices, food and big screens ( don't need cloudy 3D here!!!). And the mall to eat and shop. Great game room for kids. A good rainy day activity if on vacation.

Came here on a rainy day while on vacation and it was outstanding! Just be sure that the movie is in your desired language. Ours was English with Spanish subtitles. This place was clean, cute and great food options!

The best cinema in PR. Great seats, great decor in the lobby, fast lines! Great sound in all the rooms, the 3d is the real deal not the crappy 3d they have in some other places.

Indeed the best movie theater in Puerto Rico, but not every room deserves 5 stars. Watching the Avengers in Just stereo was not cool. The 5.1 sorround sound sometimes poped in and out, but for the most part it was on stereo. 5.1 is a must for the amount paid for a theater and "Sala 1" did not fullfill my experience, especially on the Avengers.... Broke my balls On the upside, popcorn is extra buttery, candy is not that expensive (obviously candy is cheaper outside the theater) and they have ICEE!!!! ICEE is always cool!! ;)

I saw The Hunger Games Mocking Jay Part 1 here, the theater was very clean, and the sound quality was great. Films here are in english with spanish subtitles. The previews alone are about 30-45 I thought I was going to lose it. Besides that, good experience.

I love this theater. Love the decor and everything. Don't like the girl who sells the tickets kind of rude.

Theater was very clean and prices were very responsible. We saw Logan (2017) and were pleasantly surprised by how large the CXC screen was. Clear sound and great seating. Will come back next time I'm in Puerto Rico.

Great theater. Nice customer service. Comfy seats. Cheap foods. Plus it's in the mall, perfect location. Less then $40 spent on two tickets, a turkey sandwich and a ham and turkey wrap, a donut and two large sodas. Gotta run it back

The theater itself is one of the largest around and one of the few that is open early with various shows, early as in 10am. It's great to go to a movie at mid morning with the potential to be done before noon. Potential because the listed movie time might be 10am but in PR the actual start is when it is and that is usually 20 to 30 minutes later than the published start time due to a variety of reasons. So, figure on 3 hours for a 2 hour movie. The screens and sounds are pretty good, nothing too special. The popcorn and junk food options just aren't that good but I still get the popcorn despite the fact that they don't have butter (or that fake butter even) or salt so the popcorn is quite bland but I just can't watch a movie without popcorn no matter how bad it is.

Its just OK.. It takes time to park at the mall and there are very LONG lines to buy tickets.. It seems everybody goes to this cinema.

Can't compare it to the movies back in states where the animated films are really digital and bright. These screens were old school. The seats were big,but if someone was leaning back then it was really very close to you that it was hard to cross your legs without bumping them. Prices though for tickets and food very cheap. A big popcorn and big soda were $6 and tickets $7.50.

We had a 2 am flight back to NY. We had spent the entire day in Old San Juan at all of the tourists spots. We were tired, we (or I) could do no more walking. So my fiance suggested we go see a movie until it was time for us to go to the airport. Thank god we did. Killed time for us and gave us a place to sit. The movie theater is located in a huge mall .... th ebiggest mall in the Caribbean to be exact. Parking was a B****! But themovie theater was cute. Had an arcade area for kids, and wasn't expensive at all. The theater we were in was small and looked like an old school movie theater, nothing like the newer AMCs stateside. None the less, it suited our needs. The only thing I will say is, expect for people to bring their very young, screaming children to the movie theater, and expect to be kicked a lot. At least that was my experience. lol

It is an ok theater - if you like buttery popcorn with your movie you can forget it, no butter.
