We recently stayed at the Caribbean House in Key West for a last-minute trip and had a great experience. The property is just a short walk from Duval Street, with free parking available a couple of blocks away. We stayed in the Dominica room, which is very small (you’ll feel like a giant in the bathroom!), but it was clean and conveniently located on the first floor. The room included a small refrigerator, which came in handy, and there were dressers to help clear up luggage space. The bed was slightly firm but comfortable enough for a night’s stay. One of the best parts of the stay was the breakfast. Each morning, they deliver a small selection of healthy breakfast items right to your door in a cute basket, and they even offer mimosas! There is also free coffee and tea available at all times. While we didn’t use the room service, it’s available if you need it. The outdoor seating was perfect for enjoying the beautiful Key West weather, and the property felt very safe with a code required for entry. If you’re not picky about space and are looking for a clean, centrally located option in the heart of Key West, this is a great choice. It was perfect for our quick getaway!

The rooms are tiny and the bathroom is very cramped. The house keeping ladies are amazing, so efficient and polite. There is no restaurant although you can have a very limited breakfast in your cramped room or downstairs in a makeshift bar area. The location is great in walking distance to everything I the old Town Key West. We stayed for almost a week and when asked if they could do some washing for us they refused. Obviously we would have paid for the service. So don’t expect management to go the extra mile. I suppose you get what you pay for.

This was a spur of the moment rental for a quick weekend in Key West. We were very pleased with the accommodations. The room was very small but it had everything we needed. The place was decorated really cute and had nice seating outside the room as well as another area where the coffee was. Breakfast was included and it was very good. The service was excellent and everyone was very friendly. The location is great because it is in walking distance to everything. I recommend this and will surely stay here again.

My husband and I stayed at the Caribbean House for 4 nights, in the Nevis room. It was perfect for us. We received an email and a text the day before with check-in instructions, which was very much appreciated. The room was cute and clean. The bed was raised to allow storage under the bed. They even provided extra towels for the beach. The breakfast basket, mimosa bar, and the "honor" fridge were nice and made our stay that much better. ||The location is perfect and quiet but in walking distance to Duval street, the beach, shopping and restaurants. ||I definitely recommend!

Yes, the rooms are small, but who goes to KW to sit in their hotel?! It was clean and the staff was lovely. The coffee, mimosas, and light breakfast provided was enough to start the day. Can't beat the location, close enough to so much, but a little off Duval to avoid the noise.

My husband and I stayed 8 nights at this lovely place. The location is perfect and the staff could not be more accommodating. They are honest in saying the rooms are very small. But the king size bed we had was very comfortable. Our only issue ( and the reason for 4 stars instead of 5) is the bathroom and shower. It is really tiny. There is something unpleasant about having to be up against the wet shower curtain while showering. The shower is right next to the toilet. There is nothing dividing the shower from the toilet except a cotton shower curtain . There’s plenty of hot water, and the AC works great. |They might want to invest in black out shades as well. Our room was right next to the outside fluorescent lights. We asked about black out curtains but ended up tacking up towels to make the room darker. That helped. |The continental breakfasts are fine, and the location is perfect. Lots of great restaurants only steps away. |All in all, a very nice place . Good value, but be aware the rooms are very small.

We had another fantastic stay at he Caribbean House. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Beds are super comfy. Ideal location. Cute little breakfast basket provided with enough choices to start your day.

This place was adorable! Our room was kept like an ice box and it was so amazing. The staff was so friendly and even held out bags while we bopped around key west waiting for our flight! We felt at home here and will definitely be back. Everything was so clean and tidy. Plus you’re right there to hop on Duval street making an easy walk just about anywhere!! Bonus are the sweet puppies we met there including Rusty :)🐶

Yelp
I'm a little late on this review but I wanted to be sure I wrote one anyway because I was so impressed with this place! My friend and I stayed here a couple weekends ago for four nights. I was hesitant to book simply due to the amount of "rules" on their website. It just felt like a place that was going to charge me extra when I checked out because I breathed too loudly one of the nights. We booked anyway, and I am glad we did! The rooms were small, but they all are in Key West. If you want something big, go to Miami. I saw a few reviews talk about the temperature of the rooms- we did not have an issue! It took us the first night to find the sweet spot of the window AC unit where we weren't too cold but weren't too hot, but once we did it was smooth sailing! Our room was clean and the bathroom was well-stocked. My biggest pleasant surprise was the complimentary breakfast! I expected basic toast and coffee, but there were quite a few options, from breakfast sandwiches to fresh fruit cups to yogurt to bagels. And let's not forget the free mimosas! Even their coffee bar was stocked with flavor syrups so you could enjoy your vacation coffee rather than choking down bad brew with powdered creamer. Service here was simply wonderful. We received a call the day we were arriving with all of the details of how to access our room (we came in late so nobody would be in the office). Throughout our stay, they were attentive to our every need, and it was nice to walk past the office and see a friendly face instead of a random desk clerk who clearly hates their job. We ended up renting some bikes from them (a great amenity I might add!) and realized that we did not have cash to rent them. They kindly let us take the bikes for the day and return the next day with cash for the rental! You just won't get that level of service at most places! Overall, I loved our stay at Caribbean House and would gladly return again! If you're considering booking here, DO IT!

Yelp
I understand there is a cancellation policy, but I booked through hotels.com and on all third party websites it says children are allowed. I sent them proof and they just still refuse a refund. what an awful hotel. Then they called hours later to tell me we could stay if my kids quiet? LOL

Yelp
We stayed here a total of four nights. As one who travels for my job I've stayed at some 200 hotels/yr so my review would be not only about our stay but in comparison to the thousands of hotels over the last twenty years... Let me say that check-in was the fastest I've ever had and that's because the process starts with a secured area by a six foot fenced and locked gate. You get a passcode texted and instructions on your room. On the room. Door are your keys and the finishing touches for your paperwork are awaiting you in your room. Just complete a few lines and return the sheet to a drop box. There are staff on site for any needs Next the room is the smallest I've ever stayed in and that's saying something. Smaller then some I've stayed in while staying in NY, Barcelona, Toyoko, and other locations abroad. However the room was very clean, had a very comfortable queen size bed with six pillows that were also very comfortable. There was a tall dresser with 5 drawers, a mini fridge, night stand tables on both ends, a ceiling fan, and a window unit air conditioner that had no shortage of extremely cold air to offer. The bathroom was furnished with a pedestal sink, round bowl toilet and standup shower the size of a broom closet. My only drawback was the water pressure but it was understandable due to the small area of the shower, otherwise you would have water outside the bathroom and in the living area. They do offer breakfast with the stay but it doesn't start until 8:30 and we're already several hours into our day by then.

Yelp
OUR ROOM SMELLED LIKE SEWAGE WATER OUR ENTIRE THREE DAY STAY! The odor was terrible the day we checked in and we did our best to try and push through. When the smell got worse the second day we brought it to the attention of Caribbean house staff and they told us they already knew about the smell and that it was seeping through the walls into their front office. We didn't understand why they didn't address this with us the first day or why we weren't given options. They attempted to dump bleach down our toilet but that didn't work. We were forced to go buy our own air fresheners in an attempt to manage the odor since we had no other options. Today, when we checked out, we believed there might be some compensation. We were told by staff there was nothing they could do and to come back next year and hope things would be better. What was even more disappointing was that we have stayed here the past couple years and have brought family and friends to this establishment. Hotel staff said it was noted in their system we were regular guests but would still do nothing. In the end, the manager never reached out to us or spoke with us at all. Not even a simple apology. We will NEVER be back and do not wish this type of service on anyone! DO NOT STAY HERE!!

Yelp
Truly excellent. Kind staff, perfect walkable location right off Duval and across from Blue Heaven. You can walk everywhere in town practically outside of the airport. And on top of that, it's one of the best deals in town. Guaranteed, I'll stay here again.

Yelp
WOW! We are not easily impressed. And we are absolutely impressed. Prime location, really hopin' neighborhood. But we never once heard the road noise. The bed is very comfortable, room is extremely clean, such thoughtful attention to details. The breakfast is excellent, in the most adorable hidden area. The decor is so tastefully chosen to really give us the Key West feel we desired. Parking was easy to arrange and use. The staff, Mary really went out of her way to make us feel like family! If you are searching for a place in Key West look no further. This will not disappoint, it will impress you!

Yelp
Really cute place. We had the Dominica Room #4. The rooms are very small but we were literally only in it to sleep and get ready. For about half the cost of everywhere else, It is worth the money. Great location. Not too far from Duval St. 10 min walk to the southernmost point. We rented bikes from them which was super easy and convenient for $15 for a full 24 hours. Our bed was made and towels refreshed every day. We were also surprised how quiet it was when we slept.

Yelp
We stayed in the Antigua Room. It was the typical size Key West room. Very clean, window a/c worked great, fridge in the room is nice & breakfast area right by the room. No issues staying here. HIGHLY recommend paying for their parking if you need to park a vehicle. Its convenient & way cheaper than paying for other city parking.

Yelp
Just left Caribbean House after a two night stay, first time in Key West. We stayed in Dominica, the room was small and cozy (bathroom especially tight). It had everything we needed, it was clean and the bed was comfortable. The staff were amazing, I loved having a place to park (have to reserve a spot ahead of time and of course pay for it nightly). Continental breakfast every morning with a good selection of items to choose from. Caribbean House is close to Duval Street and Mallory Square. We were able to walk almost everywhere we wanted to go. I would definitely stay there again without hesitation.

Yelp
Traveling "solo" on a Mom-cation to Key West for the first visit, I can't say enough how impressed I was with The Caribbean House B&B. The rooms all have cute Caribbean names, and are total Caribbean vibe decorated. The rooms were cozy, but very well kept and clean. There's free wi-fi, and the rooms offer cable, ceiling fans and window unit A/C. My room was on the bottom floor around the back, which I was a little worried at first with security from the street. I was relieved to see the property was enclosed by a fence and had two security gates that could only be opened by your key. In my back corner there was only one other room and a perfect outdoor leisure area with comfy chairs and padded benches. I spent a few minutes out there every day with my coffee and a few hours at night over drinks with newly made friends in the room next to me. The top floor has a wrap around porch with outdoor seating and on the backside it overlooks the garden grounds of a cute, older apartment complex where the palm trees offer privacy but you can enjoy hearing the water fountain of the apartments courtyard. That'll be my next room to stay in!! Breakfast is your typical light breakfast fare. A spread of pastries, bagels, hard boiled eggs, cereal, granola, yogurt, and fresh fruit. Coffee, tea and mimosas are included. Once breakfast is cleared the outdoor dining area is a perfect and quiet place to eat anything you've chosen to take back to the room to eat, or to sit and have a cold soda. Sodas are available in the fridge out on said dining area with an honor system. Location is FABULOUS!! Right across the street is an upscale southern dining resteraunt that was once an hold KW home. Amazing food! Right next door is Johnsons Grocery. Perfect for grabbing a single beer and the best homemade conch salad on the island to eat lunch on the patio or porch at the Caribbean House. The owners of Johnsons Grocery are an older couple and I enjoyed many wonderful conversations with them when I'd pop in for something. Across the corner is Blue Heaven... fun spirited place with the best Shrimp and Grits served with a side of warm banana bread. You're only minutes from Duval, less than a 10 min walk, and you're located in the old Bahama Village. Evident by the architecture of the homes on this side of town. In the blink of an eye you can walk to Ernest Hemmingways house or the Key West Lighthouse. There's also Blue Macaw within a blink. A fabulous place to eat with tropical vines, often live music, a Bloody Mary bar to make one yourself or have the bartenders make you the BEST one ever! If you're up for the beach, Ft Zachary Taylor state park is a short walk away. You can pick up a beach towel to use at the front office of the inn. There's bicycles to rent as well. I split my days between the bike and walking. The bikes are 15 the first day, and 10 a day after. The staff is amazingly friendly and felt like family when I left. I had many a laughs with them, all are wonderful people with a great cohesive working relationship which you can see that they aren't just coworkers but family as well. I will def be back and look forwards to staying again at The Caribbean House and seeing everyone's smiling faces and sharing laughter with them every morning!

Yelp
Long story short: Might be worth it if traveling with pets. I saw this place on a weekend trip last year while eating at Firefly across the street. I made note of it because the rate seemed pretty good, especially considering that it is pet friendly. Booked online and I emplore you to read the rules on there. I had to LOL at "No springbreakers" but appreciate the thought. Checkin was easy. The lady at the front desks walks you to the room and reminds you of the rules. The room: You cannot adjust AC... if you want to change it the person downstairs has to come up and do it for you. The front office closes early so if you want to adjust it at night I'm assuming you can wake the desk person up? Ceiling fan only seems to have 1 speed. I self identify as a polar bear so the inability to adjust (lower) the AC to a comfortable setting was the must annoying thing about my stay. Aside from that, the room was tiny. I've litteraly slept in bigger and more comfortable jail cells. It smells like cat fart, which is weird because I thought it was a dog place. The bed is on rollers, so you can't bang on it without waking up the building and damaging the drywall. There are 4 dedicated parking spaces for 9 rooms. This means that you might have to park anywhere from a block to 9 miles away. Luckily I snagged a street parking spot across the road and planned on using my bicycle for the weekend regardless. Another rule worth mentioning is that you can't bring your bicycle into your room or past the gates. So, tie it up outside if there is space or keep it in your car. Final squick is that room service cleaned even though the note on the night stand specifically states that you must have the maid service hanger on the door to have your room serviced, which I did not. If you just need a place to crash with you pet on the cheap then this place might work out for you. There is minimal space - I don't think a large crate would fit in here. If i do end up coming down with a pet, I'll more than likely just spend the extra $$$ and stay in one of the other pet friendly hotels.

Yelp
In our favorite Key West neighborhood of Bahama Village, there exists an adorable inn with an adorable nightly rate ($89 a night off season.) The location is amazing, with lobster benedicts and bloody marys from our favorite restaurant, Blue Heaven, basically so close they can tap us on the shoulder to wake us up in the morning. And the best thing of all: pooches welcome at no extra cost. That's right, up to 2 dogs of any size allowed per room. The room was tiny, with about 2ft of space surrounding the full bed, but very well decorated and home-y feeling. There was a TV to sustain us through a period of torrential rain, a side table, dresser, AC, and bathroom with a small shower. One of our pups cried the first night for about 20 minutes straight, when we ventured out for a slice of pizza after getting in a bit later than expected. I felt bad, but no one bothered us about it-- I think there is some tolerance for these things at such a dog-friendly place. If you get in late, ring the bell at the front door and the French woman who runs the inn will come down and check you in. They also had reserved a parking space in front of the building for us, which can be really helpful in that area. If the gates are closed, you need a key to get out or in, which is great for the letting the dogs walk around the bottom deck area in the morning without worrying about them slipping out. There is a small coffee bar with patio seating, so you can have a sip and let the pups meet-and-greet before heading out for the day. We felt our dogs were safe and sound while inside the property and there's an old football field-turned-dog park about 2 blocks away where they can get their run on. We'll definitely be coming back. The price can't be beat, and while we could use a scoatch more room, the fact that we don't have to pay to board the dogs and can just throw them in the car and take them with us, is, how you say, priceless.

Yelp
Stayed for three nights in early May. Was a wonderful base of operations to explore Key West. The rooms were clean, spacious, and very comfy. Don't expect anything fancy, it was more like staying at your favorite aunt/uncle's house. The staff made us feel very welcome (although word of warning to the allergic, there are a few house dogs running around the office). The hotel offered free tea and coffee, with waters and sodas available for $1 each. Every room had a fridge, and there was a communal microwave. Great water pressure and heat in the showers. AC in the rooms could be a bit strong, but you can ask the office to adjust. Location is perfect. You are across the road from 4 of Key West's best restaurants, and next door to a very friendly grocery. It's less than five minutes to walk to Duval Street -which is the local hub for bars, restaurants, shops, etc - but far away enough that you won't hear the noise at all.

Jeff S.

Yelp
Loved this B&B. It's small without any real amenities, but it's exactly what we were looking for. The rooms were immaculate. The Caribbean House is in a great location. We walked to the Southern Most Point of the Continental US (what a crock! check a map) all down Duval Street to Sunset Pier without any problems. It's within easy walking distance of the Hemingway House too, if that's you thing. The owner is a real sweetheart and she loves her cats, especially the one she calls Minou Minou (Kitty Kitty). She'll give you a map of the city and directions in broken English when you check in. There is free WIFI. Also, the gates close and lock at night, so don't forget you key or you'll be locked out. If you check out early in the morning before the office opens, don't forget to open the gate BEFORE you drop your key or you'll have to jump the fence to escape... just like my wife and I did.

Yelp
I'm very disappointed in this place for not doing the right thing for the customer. We are from Tampa and had reservations here for a trip to Key West Dec. 20th- 23rd for my birthday. I made these reservations months in advance, in addition to reservations on the ferry out of Fort Meyers to Key West. Unfortunately a bad storm rolled in and cancelled all Key West ferries Dec. 20th and 21st. And because it's the Christmas holiday, there are no ferries ever scheduled on Christmas eve and Christmas day. I was very disappointed, but of course, the weather is no one's fault, and safety comes first. However, when I called Caribbean House to explain the situation and discuss my options, the woman I spoke to was extremely unsympathetic. Not only did she say there was no refund possible whatsoever, but she also charged me a late cancellation fee and did not offer to provide a voucher for the money I had already put down on the deposit. She said we should drive since the ferry was cancelled. Well, sorry, I don't want to spend 15 hours of my 4 day birthday trip in a car. Clearly it was not that I wanted to cancel this reservation. I was devastated. The least they could do was offer a voucher so that I could apply that deposit to a future visit. The best, most customer-service oriented thing they could have done (which they SHOULD have done), is offered me a refund. I expected more from a locally-owned business. I always try go local rather than support chains, but I bet you a Hilton or Marriott would have given me a refund.

Yelp
We stayed 2 nights and had an amazing experience. I called a few times before our arrival, and each time Marsha (Marcia?) was so friendly and helpful. We had given them an estimated arrival of lunch time the day of and wound up being a little early; our room was already ready, and Marsha grabbed a map and circled a few possible points of interest for us. She also asked when my birthday was, which I found amazing, because I don't even remember mentioning it. A few minutes after we checked in, there was a knock on the door, and they gave me an adorable gift basket and card! They also have a great breakfast, and a fridge full of beer, wine, soda, and water on an honor system. Having easy access to water is amazing down here, with so few convenience stores. The location is truly ideal- 3 of the top rated restaurants are on the same block, and everything else is less than half a mile away, yet it's still a quiet street. The rooms are a good size for Key West. Pay for parking at the house! It is absolutely worth it. We will stay here anytime we come back; the friendly staff, attention to detail, and location make this the best place to stay in KW

Gail S.

Yelp
This was my first trip to Key West. We picked this place because I have a dog. The room was small but clean and the a/c worked great, but the best thing about this place is the staff. They made us feel very welcome and comfortable. And they really do their best to help you find a parking spot. No coffee till 8 am so if you're an early riser like me you're out of luck. Would not hesitate to stay here again.

Robyn H.

Yelp
This beautiful B&B is an amazing place to stay. The owners are hands on, the staff are so friendly and helpful. Jay is amazing, if you are planning a trip to key west Florida, get your reservation in here.... you will not be disappointed

Stacie W.

Yelp
Room size is what you need, comfortable bedding, no breakfast but coffee, selection of teas, and water 24/7 available. 2nd cheapest option, can bring animals if have them. Unique place, with a key west feel

Mac F.

Yelp
Sweet little B&B in Bahama Village. Cheap rooms in a cool part of town a couple blocks south of the mid-Duval craziness. And a great Conch fritter joint on the corner for good measure.

Jelena M.

Yelp
Loved the place! Cute, artsy and convenient. Breakfast was delicious and fresh every morning. Free wi-fi and many TV channels. Very clean, quiet. Towels changed daily. Shampoo and shower gel provided. Convinient location to all the sights and Fort Taylor Beach. Hosts and staff were really fiendly, helpful, hospitable. Strongly recommended!!

Carol H.

Yelp
My daughter and I stayed at the Carribbean House in May . It was so convenient, clean as a whistle, great breakfast, nice staff, pretty room and much more. We loved having the bicycles to get around town and the parkin spot. We never moved the car until we left. Would stay there again and again. Thanks for the good time!

Jill J.

Yelp
We stayed at The Caribbean house for two nights. The room was small, but it was everything we needed. It was cozy, clean, and had a cute little private-ish patio. The owner, Marie provided us with beach towels, coffee, tea, and water. We had a reserved parking space which was a great help. She also rented bikes which was a neat idea. It is in walking distance from of all of the Hot spots in Key west. She gave us a map upon arrival that showed us the closest beach, the southern most point of Florida, Duval Street and Mallory Square. The price was the best I found around, and it was well worth it. I cannot wait to stay here again!

Todd O.

Yelp
1st room was very very small. As night approached we noticed the room getting very warm. No way to adjust air in room. The manager adjusted but got even hotter we could not sleep the 1st night and our dog was stressed from the heat. The windows had no locks all 3 of them when asked for at least screws to put into the holes was dismissed and told Key West is very safe. In fact my husband lived in Key West for 10 years and the neighborhood this terrible inn is located is not safe and know of many people mugged and robbed on the same block. They moved us the next day when a room opened where the air was sufficient. The owner is French and, in France so help was clueless about billing and so forth. Our parking space was given away to a mad man from NYC. Coffee is all that is served so weak we did not bother. To many corners cut to point of we will never stay here again or suggest to anyone.

Jasmine A.

Yelp
My mom, myself and my 2 dogs ( chihuahua 16yrs old 14lbs and chow/lab mix 16yrs old 80lbs) arrived Saturday July 13th to meet a lovely woman who greeted me with a wonderful warm French accent and a hug. I felt like I was home. Check-in was a breeze, no stress, no worries and exactly the price she quoted 89/night and no fees for pets---i repeat, NO PET FEES. I paid in full, and she gave the tour of her lovely home. The room was quaint, 2 twin beds, refrigerator, a cute bathroom, nightstand between the two beds and a small dresser. It felt like an ideal room traveling to a secret island. The room was extremely clean, and Marie ( owner) helped to get settled. She directed me park my Corolla on the narrow roads and was constantly checking to make sure everyone was ok. We stayed on the 2nd floor. This was my first time to Key West, Bahamas Village, but it was a perfect fit for my personality and style, the place is quiet minus the cocking roosters, but it didnt bother me much. Coming from noisy NYC, and working in an animal hospital, roosters cocking was a natural way of waking up, to walk outside on the balcony and enjoy the sun rise with the cool breeze of the Island. Not only is this place convienently located less that 2 blks from Duval, it is also located in the middle of all attractions walking distance. I will definitely come back. I recommened all persons to experience Marie's hospitality and loving mother-like meaner.

Tiff C.

Yelp
The Caribbean House is my favorite place to stay in Key West! I would highly recommend it to any friends that were planning a trip down there. If you love the atmosphere of the Caribbean itself, then this Inn is the perfect place to stay- bright colors, clean but quaint, right in the heart of Bahama Village. I stayed there this past May for the second time and Marie, the lovely woman that owns the place, had upgraded the amenities-- a little breakfast patio with water, coffee, tea, ice, microwave, etc. And you get a little fridge in your room so you have every convenience you could need. And speaking of convenience, she now rents bicycles at a great low rate. On bike, everything on the island that you would want to see is less than 10 min away (though a VERY easy walk as well)-- Mallory Square, the Historic Harbor, Duval Street, Southernmost Point, Hemingway House, Ft. Zachary State Park/ beach, etc. I just love KW and the experience will never be complete again without staying at the Caribbean House. LOVE IT!
