Faraway Nantucket Hotel Review | Hotels Above Par

"Tucked into the corner of Sister Ship with a street entrance, I found Cymbals Café to be the ideal quick-stop for strong coffee and small-batch donuts, and its ivy-walled, umbrella-shaded outdoor courtyard with comfy rattan furniture makes it a perfect place to linger over a latte (or later, The Salty Spritz) and chat with travel companions." - Lindsay Cohn

Here’s your review: ⸻ I had such a peaceful and productive time working at Caribbrew in Newark, NJ. The atmosphere was calm and inviting—perfect for focusing and getting things done. I started my day with their House Mocha, which gave me the perfect boost to dive into my work. For lunch, I ordered the Cajun Egg Turkey Sausage sandwich, and wow… it was amazing! So flavorful and satisfying. The hospitality and service were top-notch, and I even ran into the pleasant surprise of finding out that many people I know also frequent this spot. It’s clear this place has a strong community feel. Overall, an incredible experience—highly recommend!

I was happy to see a new cafe in the Newark area! When I arrived I had to circle but found parking on the street. I walked into the cutest place! I ordered the frozen hot chocolate and it took only a few minutes. When I tried it was very rich. I wish it was a little sweeter but all in all, I enjoyed my experience!

I ordered the beef pâté and the Caribbean Spiced Latte, and honestly, it tasted just like home. The flavors were rich, warm, and sooo familiar...exactly the kind of comfort food you crave. The lady who handle my order was so pleasant. I suggest to order ahead due to parking.. You can park in front with your hazardous lights on for pick-up orders only, other than that I highly recommend!

The coffee was great! Pricey but good. Small but good. They need to post a price list. The lemon rum cake had good flavor but was very dense. I also had the patties and I hate to say but they were not very good. Stick with the coffee!

Went there with husband yes the place is beautiful but the coffee, pastry everything is trash and overpriced, the cremas latte is a 3/10, I give it 3 only because the barista was super nice other than that is not worth the money and all. Everytime I tried to support My Haitian people I always got disappointed

Small coffee spot on Clay, between McCarter Hwy and Spring Street. Less than a year old, formerly only online, this is their first building. Parking is a little tough in that area, but worth the trip

The Barista was super friendly, attentive and helped me decide on my drink (wasn't sure what I wanted). The café is a total vibe, great music selection, spacious, plenty of seating, and the decor is fun, calming and welcoming. I wanted to support a local spot and got carried away with my order. The only miss from everything I ordered was the pineapple upside down cake, but again I ordered seven items and those ALL hit. The patties, were flakey and flavorful, The truffle egg sandwich is definitely a must have if you like truffles. Definitely plan to visit again.

Yelp
We have been buying Caribbrew coffee for a few years now and were really happy to hear they opened a cafe in our state! While in Newark we made a point to visit Caribbrew. The ambiance is cheerful and inviting, it transported us to a warm island day for our brief stay. It seems there was only one barista working that day and she was very helpful, patient, and friendly. My husband ordered the Cremas Latte and oh my god I wish I got it, it was so delicious; creamy, flavorful and sweet. I ordered the iced toasted almond "hot" chocolate, it was a very rich dark chocolate taste with the amaretto flavor coming through nicely. It was not overly sweet which I enjoyed. I think this is how hot chocolate was meant to taste and I'll be curious to try it hot. I also appreciated that there was some of my drink that didn't fit in the cup, so the barista gave it to me in another cup. My son ordered a Golden Mango Smoothie- he loved it! I love that it has turmeric in it, I felt good letting him have this drink. We also got some snacks. We ordered the Haitian beef patties which were very authentic. You get two per order which was a nice surprise. My son wanted to eat all 4 from our two orders. We also ordered a mini chocolate cake which was decadent and moist and a mini key lime pie which was refreshing and delicious! It was really nice being able to go to a Haitian cafe. My husband and son are Haitian and we enjoyed teaching our son about his culture while he can enjoy treats made with imported Haitian ingredients and recipes. He also enjoyed looking at the art work which prompted him to ask my husband more questions. I only wish there was better parking, especially for us out-of-towners, but I know that is hard in a city.

Yelp
Found this spot on a Til Tok and decided to give it a try after I saw a Cremas latte on the menu. Getting to the venue was a bit of a doozy as street parking is minimal and it's on a very busy crosswalk by a highway. Nonetheless, it's worth it! The place is rather large for a coffee shop with plenty of tables and seating. The ambiance is clean, laid back, and minimal with a fresh aspect to it. I ordered a cremas latte with a turkey sausage egg sandwich. Also ordered a Haitian hot chocolate to go. The crenas latte was so delicious. I didn't need to add anything else to it. It was smooth, creamy and so good. The turkey sandwich was on the smaller side but so very tasty. My hot chocolate was on the sweeter side and indeed very chocolate. It's like no other hot chocolate I've had before. The young lady who serviced me was kind and courteous, serving drinks with a smile. Great place to go for coffee and a snack. Yoy can even work.from there as the wifi is free.

Yelp
I came by right before closing. Inside is super cute and makes for a great spot to get some work done during the day. The service is great. I ended up ordering the fish patties and the lemon rum cake. The fish patties had about half a teaspoon of filling inside, which was disappointing since they looked so promising. The rum cake was just okay. The rum was strong, but I would have maybe preferred another flavor because the lemon was much.

Yelp
Pretty open space with lots of natural light. Really nice owner too. I arrived and they were recording marketing material. They just opened about a month ago so I don't think it's widely known! There was only one other patron there. Parking is definitely tricky in the area but luckily I found parking around the corner. I ordered an Americano, beef Haitian patty and rum cake. All the baked goods are ordered from local businesses, the owner shared that she likes to support woman owned businesses. I'm here for it. Unfortunately, the rum cakes were my least favorite-- too artificial tasting for me. However, the Haitian patties were tasty and flaky! The beef was well seasoned. The coffee was OK. I know they make a lot of other specialty lattes but I like my coffee simple. Black. Nothing added. And it was too darkly roasted for me, not my favorite. I'm sure it's better with milk and sugar but that isn't my vibe. Overall, I recommend you check this out if you're in the neighborhood! Super unassuming and a perfect place to chill out and get some work done.

Yelp
This is such a gorgeous spot for a light snack with the girls. The crema latte, truffle egg sandwich, and the patty was good and the chocolate cake was REALLLY good. The owner was sooo nice. I spent my birthday here spontaneously because of certain things that happened that day, and being in this spot woth such a nice owner made my day better.

Yelp
The cremas latte is the BEST in Essex County!!! This cafe is beautiful and is great for post service fellowship. They also have welcoming staff and a great music selection and a delicious Prosciutto pesto sandwich

Yelp
I found about Caribbrew via Instagram and I'm so impressed with everything. I had the popular cremas latte (hot), it's so creamy and delicious. They also have some yummy desserts, we shared a guava/ cheesecake cupcake with whipped topping and I did not want it to finish at all, so moist and delectable. The young lady who served our food was so sweet and attentive. The quality of the decor, the colors, and the music (not overpowering) transports you to somewhere you would love to return, which is what we'll do.

Yelp
Cute interior. Cool music. No parking. We ended up parking at Taco Bell. Overpriced coffee drinks. Not for me.

Yelp
When I walked in I immediately thought that it would be a great place to get work done. The space is open and bright. I was welcomed with a bright hello and asked if I had been on before. I decided to go with a caramel oat latte. It was delicious! The only thing I could see being a bit of an issue is parking but I just parked on the street next to autozone. I can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Wonderful place! The coffee and sorrel tea were amazing! We even purchased their chocolate to make at home! I also had the coconut rum cake which was moist and delicious. I live in Florida and was in the area for the Beyoncé concert. When I found out they had a NJ location I HAD to stop by!

Yelp
Everything about this cafe is amazing. The decor is so insanely beautiful - it truly makes you feel like you are in tropical paradise. I tried their Passionfruit Mango tart which was PERFECT! I don't enjoy sweets as much, but this tart had the perfect amount of sweetness. I drank their Iced Hibiscus Sorrel which is the best drink if you're a tea lover. My mom tried their Hot Cremas Latte and she adored it. I also tried their Chocolate Frappe Milkshake with Toasted Marshmallows on top and it was so delectable. Definitely a place you want to stop in for a quick bite or a caffeinated drink if you're in the Newark area!

Yelp
Caribbrew is amazing!! Let's start with hospitality, Beverly was the best hostess/barista she really made me feel right at home. The Cremas Latte and the House blend mocha were both delicious! Very savory and packed with delectable flavor! The ambiance was warm and cozy with cute esthetics. It gives you Caribbean vibes as if you walked right in to Haiti. This is definitely my new go to spot for coffee, teas or hot chocolate. Run don't walk here and grab you one!!

Yelp
THIS SPOT WILL BLOW YOU AWAY!! It's the most authentic Haitian café I've been in that still maintains a high quality, chic atmosphere. More importantly... THEIR HOT CHOCOLATE! No syrups, no cheating the recipe, just REAL haitian hot cocoa, spices and all! My little cousins were blown away, and I had to order extras for my family! We tried the Cremas Latte (no alcohol, perfect for kiddos!), Chocolate Milkshake, Hot Chocolate, and ate a turkey sandwich and Cajun Egg sandwiches. All of which were amazing. The owner is lovely & fun to chat with, and free parking is best found on Spring St--just a 1-2min walk away outside that apartment complex. I'm DEFINITELY coming back to try their dessert!! You cannot go wrong here: it's 10x better than your local Starbucks, but with the same quality ambience. Super pretty and intentional decor, inspired by Haitian homes. Free wifi makes it perfect for getting work done too! They host monthly events, so I'll link their Partiful RSVPing link here: https://partiful.com/u/rdTAIfNlFVzK1086b2A1

Yelp
Grateful to have been able to meet the owner when visiting and I'm happy to support a genuine and positive person that makes great food. The crema latte is fire and the pate (patty) was crisp and baked to perfection. The egg sandwich as a tasty grab and go. The frozen hot chocolate had a unique and refreshing taste. The aesthetic of the cafe is very nice as well. Nice place to visit on a weekday when it's not busy.

Yelp
What a beautiful space! The cafe would be perfect to host an event or function or just to grab a cup of coffee. We tried the cremas latte, cold brew & toasted almond hot chocolate, all were so delicious! Don't skip the veggie patty too!

Yelp
The most beautiful coffee spot in New Jersey ....cozy, clean, open and the drinks are amazing. My favorite is the Cremas latte and the chocolate milkshake. They have great sandwiches and patties too! Owner is nice and great service! A must for anyone who visits Newark.
