Carl's is the Aspen answer for everything.
I need a battery, light bulb, bottle of gin, aspirin, frisbee, children's book, incense, and white out.
...Go to Carl's.
I need a picture frame, plastic bowl, kite, bottle of rum, packing tape, an Aspen snow globe, soap, greeting card, mesh basket, a t-shirt, bag of chips, and a gallon of distilled water.
...Go to Carl's.
I need a prescription filled, a kid's backpack, an iron, 5 hangers, more white out, a sharpie, a cape, paint thinner, a toothbrush, a vase for flowers, shampoo, garbage bags, and more shirts.
...Go to Carl's.
I need to go to a store where everyone walks really slowly, the shelves are stocked so full items are exploding on the floor, and I need to pay at least 20% more than I would at a normal store for everything.
...Go to Carl's.
Carl's is Aspen's combination liquor store/general store/CVS/pharmacy/souvenir shop/Staples/Bed Bath & Beyond/Ace Hardware that always had what I needed (or a version of it) and allowed me to never make more than one stop...but I sure paid a lot extra for that convenience on most items.
As a self-proclaimed neat freak...it did take a little while to get my head around the overstocked & items on the floor shelf situation, but when I got sick and needed medicine, and when we ran out of packing tape three different times...Carl's became my best friend.
