Quaint little shop. Staff is very friendly and helpful. I ordered 3 tacos. Carne asada, fish and brisket. They were all amazing! The flavor profile for each were so great. I also got the dolce Leche churros. They were cooked perfectly and the sauce inside was delightful. Highly recommend stopping in.

Soooo good! I would give it 10 stars if I could. My husband and I tried almost every taco that they had and they were just amazing! My favorites were the pulled pork and the brisket. I also tried the brisket Plato (rice bowl) and also delicious and large portion. We also got guacamole and chips tortillas and they were perfect. The guac was well seasoned and the chips were crispy and not oily. And. Let. Me. Tell. You. The chocolate churros were to die for. Omg I could've ate 5 of them. They are fried on the spot so you get this crispy on the outside and warm and gooey deliciousness of chocolate on the inside.

Just tried this place for the first time. I ordered 2 tacos, Carne Asada and Brisket. I went with the Carne first and it was insanely good. Couldn't believe it. Then came the brisket, my knees became weak! I almost fell from his tasty that was! Easy choice as as my top new taco joint!

A hidden gem. I didn't know they were here until I saw them place at the NYC brisket competition! Great meats, you can order the bbq straight up without tacos too. Also highly recommend the loaded Mexican street corn!

Excellent little Taco spot, from the second you walk in you are hit with amazing smells and know you are in for a treat. They are constantly making tortillas fresh to order - takes it to the next level. As for the food - highly recommend the Birria Tacos - Delivious! The flavor of the smoked brisket was amazing, however the meat itself was a bit dry which was disappointing. The smoked chicken was also nice, however don’t waste your time - just go for the Birria and the Asado - trust me it’s legit. As for sides and toppings - big disappointment that I didn’t get any limes with my tacos, shouldn’t even be a question of having to ask for it in my opinion. However it was nice to see they put the pico, nice spicy salsa, pickled onions and traditional onions/cilantro. The spicy salsa is addictive and delicious. Don’t forget to get some amazing tortilla chips - out of this word. Most importantly - the staff is super inviting, friendly and eager to help with ordering. Overall - you need to check them out, dishing out some legit goods from a tiny storefront.

This is their Brisket Plato a huge favorite. What you don't see is the delicious pickled red onions that extra flavor. Their churros taste just as good!!

Is the Lyndhurst location ever going to open for local delivery orders? I saw something about only being catering but you use to do delivery from here - what happened?

It doesn't look like much from the outside but they were some of the best Mexican food I've had in recent memory. The quesotacos came out quickly and we're delicious. Do yourself a favor and try the brisket bowl and brisket tacos. The passion fruit juice rounds out the meal perfect. The food came out fast and the service was pleasant and quick. There's no much seating area but we sat by the bar. The food was great, would recommend.

I decided I wanted birria after seeing a picture on IG *drooling*. Got delivery via Doordash because of my pass there & ordered a birria, brisket taco & side of smokey black beans. The birria should be crispy but since its delivery, it still kinda was... it came with a 2 ounce consume which was good enough for one taco, but for a charge they got an 8 ounce if you're extra like that haha The birria meat was generous in portion but a bit dry for my liking, so0o I just eventually soaked it in the consume while I discovered I was all about the brisket taco! Wowiesss... the brisket was generous, JUICY, smokey & sweet absolutely fantabulously made BBQ-- in a taco! Amazing. This was suprisingly the highlight rather than the birria. Smokey black beans were truly smokey & a delish side, another good rec here. Will deff return!

I am so happy my friend and I stumbled upon this place. We were able to have an in depth convo about tacos with the owner (I wish I got his name ) which honestly made the experience so much better. I ordered every taco except the fish on the menu. Albeit to my surprise he ended up giving me a fish taco to try out l since I explained that I didn't like fish tacos. I super appreciate his confidence because he was right and I definitely like them now! The restaurant is small and clearly has a lot of takeout/pickup orders but there are also 2 small tables and 2 stools at the food area to eat inside. I want to tell ya'll how amazing each taco is but literally it wouldn't be enough. All of the meats are smoked-- the brisket being the longest, at 14 hours. Whew it is 14 hours well spent. I cannot wait to come back. From the flavor of the meats to the tender texture, each bite was delicious. Usually I take pictures but I was so into them that I forgot. I cannot wait to come back for more.

So the Yelpers nailed it again, this meal was great. I am a super picky brisket eater and overall I thought it was really solid brisket. Good Smokey flavor, solid flavor, nothing fancy, just really tasty. The rice was INSANE! What great flavor. I added the Black Beans, great decision, great addition. I also ordered a side of chips, which are homemade. Great crunch and flavor! I also got the churros, they are small two biters, that left me wanting more. The filling was a great compliment to the churro. I will definitely be back for more!

Still serving top notch TexMex. The Birria tacos are outstanding and we always have the Elotie (Street Corn) I also love the Quesotacos (tacos with melted cheese on the top and around the fillings) Super quick pick up too. The only downside is that they are only open Thursday thru Saturday.

Welcome Carlito's to Lyndhurst! So glad we decided to give them a try today! We ordered the brisket and pulled pork platos sans the beans, a chicken taco, Mexican grilled corn, and a pineapple agua fresca to go. Everything was moist and smoky and the additional sauces and cilantro onion mix put it all over the top! The Mexican street corn was a favorite of the whole family - you definitely need to add that on! The pineapple agua fresca was lightly sweet with a smooth pineapple flavor- not acidic at all. Very refreshing! Staff was super friendly too! Loaded with flavor you must give them a try!

A must stop, one of the most delicious barbecues I've ever had. Shared the smoked brisket, smoked. Chicken and smoke pork tacos. They were all bursting with flavors, great smoke taste also tried the Mexican street corn also fantastic. Super friendly staff and great service. Highly recommended

How dare you Carlitos??? I was in total bliss with the quality of tacos I was having in life and then you go and completely destroy my understand of tacos. What's wrong with you people? How could you do this to me? I just wanted some tacos for lunch and what you gave me is beyond any other taco I've ever had in my life. This is so wrong. Now I can never go back to eating tacos anywhere else ever again. I mean serious how do you expect me to eat anything but your tacos. If you want to live in your happy world of Taqueria Los gueros, Tacoria or Surf Taco fine do that and you'll be happy, just don't go here. This place will upend your taco palate and have you wanting, craving, yearning more Carlitos. You'll be dreaming about it in your sleep. You might even want to protest other taco shops, out of spite. If you're into that type of thing fine by all means go and enjoy. Please don't tell me later you haven't been warned. Got 3 taco deal for $10 brisket, pork and chicken. All epic. The Agua Fresca although it was $4 for pina I got it anyway and man did that thing live up to the price tag. They gave my daughter some complimentary chocolate churros and again bliss filled fried sticks stuffed with chocolate. I'll miss you churros... Until next time.

I'm really picky about my Mexican food because I'm from California but the chicken tacos I tried from smorgasburg were absolutely delicious! Definitely recommend to anybody looking for a solid taco.

So glad these folks are open again. I had discovered them on Yelp only after they had closed temporarily. I was in the neighborhood and decided to pick up an order of BBQ tacos on the way through. Scheduled a pickup order through their website (use restaurant ordering systems or call in directly as much as you can!!) for myself and a friend. 6 tacos - brisket, pork, fish, and 3x pork quesotacos. The fried fish taco was my favorite, followed by the brisket. The pork tacos are not spectacular but they are elevated by the salsa and other accoutrement they give you in separate containers. Also ordered the churros because how could you not finish these fantastic tacos with chocolate and dulce de leche filled churros.

Quesataco: a taco, but with queso, get it? We got ours with pulled pork, and a healthy amount of filling at that! No skimping on the meats here! Everything about this taco was amazing, from the fresh pressed tortillas made to order, the smokiness of the pulled pork, the queso menonita, and all its toppings... I could literally eat those tortillas plain! I really want to go back and try their elote, and both the chicken and sweet plantain quesatacos too. The guys working here are so kind and energetic-- and organized too. A must try.

They took over where a great little pizzeria, Francesca's, once stood and it's cool that the new occupants are also knocking out some next-level delicious grub. You walk in and it smells great - that BBQ is working hard to develop those proteins into smokey and delicious good eats. Their "plato" (that's 'plate' in English - you would've never guessed I failed high-school Spanish in the mid-80's, huh?) is very similar to Chipotle but with just so much more depth and flavor. (And since I've given Chipotle four-stars in the past, you can see how Carlito's got a perfect rating.) Of course they would've earned it because the Mrs. made sure to let the family know after every other bite how much she loved their brisket (and afterwards that it was "phenomenal" and the best meal she's eaten in a long time). And Carlito's would've also earned a fiver because their churros (man, I'm a sucker for them) might be the very best I ever had before. They're pequeño (who needs high school Spanish when there's Google Translate?!) and filled (chocolate or dulce de leche) and warm and cozy and I wish I ate them a bit slower to savor them longer. We had the brisket, pork and chicken and thought they were all stellar. (The rice and fried plantains and all the various condiments that came with our meals were all just fresh and awesome as well.) More than fairly-priced for the portion size. The two guys behind the counter could not have been any cooler and they were working their tails off. I hope they can find success here in our small town.

Last night, we decided to go south of the border. I happened to come across Carlito's, so I figured, why not. I was slightly nervous with the fact that they were in a mall and then went storefront because of mall closures. But I've learned, never judge a book until you've read it yourself. Thr special last night was ribs. Holy tequila. It had a dry rub and they were smoked. I can't even put into words how good they were. HUMONGOUS, meaty, tasteful and the aroma filled the house for hours. We got a full rack and still have half for today. I also got the quesotaco. I got the brisket and my wife got a chicken one. Brisket was SOOOOOOO tender and packed with smoky flavor. Came with onions, cilantro and guac on the side to add as desired. Fits in the palm of your hand but packs a punch of flavor that'll make that taco Tuesday 3 for $10 special VERY appealing come Tuesday. Lastly, we got the Mexican street corn. Grilled corn on the cob, with cheese and spices. Who knew vegetables were this good?????? I know I can't, but I'm going to try to replicate this baby on my grill this summer. These guys got it down pat. If you're in the area and doing tacos. Don't pass this place up. Specials change, so keep an eye out!!

I don't know what I expected a "quesataco" to be, but it wasn't this. I received four, two with beans and two with cheese. There was hardly any cheese jnside (see photo). When I selected "add beans", I didn't think I'd receive two plain bean quesatacos. Not terrible, but not very appetizing....why not combine the cheese and beans? The guacamole and plantains were very good, which is why I'm giving three stars.

Their food is 5 stars but the lack of clarity on when they are open loses a star. We have ordered via a delivery app and the store is closed. Forget about nice weather season as it's impossible to tell if they will be open. Please be more accurate about your being open. That being said the food is great. We order from here a lot. The brisket nachos are so great and filling, even with my wife taking some. We love the quesatacos as well. The brisket and pork are great. The tacos are stuffed and all of the add ones are fresh. Roasted jalapeños are delicious on the tacos and nachos but hot.

Highly recommended! Got the birria taco, birria sauce on the side, and brisket. Everything was juicy and flavorful. As soon as you open the brisket - you smell the smoke! I'll definitely be back to try the pulled pork

I honestly think that Carlito's has the best chicken tacos. It's so tender and juicy!!! Whenever I see the truck, that's what I have to get. It's so good!!

Carlito's is excellent! The first time I saw them was at the garden state plaza, and the smell was amazing. Then their food truck came to my building, and I had their Birria Quesa-Tacos, which is a tortilla grilled on top of cheese, which melts it and sticks to the tortilla. Yum! But then, what cemented my love for them, and took them from a 4 star, to a 5 star was going to their location which had things which their good truck didn't... i.e. NACHOS! OMG, their brisket nachos are quite possibly one of the best things I've ever had! I don't say that lightly, and I almost never give a 5 star rating! The brisket nachos alone make them worthy of the 5 stars... And then add all of the other quality offerings... All I can say is yum!

Love their food but continuously disappointed when we try to go to the original Lyndhurst location. Says its open online on google and Yelp and also announced their opening on their own website. Tried to stop in at 4:30 when it says they close at 8. Lights are on in the store but no one inside and no answer when we called.

These tacos are drugs. I may soon just buy them in like super bulk so I can start dealing them to the streets. Literally every item is good... I am definitely going to start selling these on the corner. Call me Pablo Tacobar.

Great spot to check out! The carnitas tacos are very flavorful but the beef brisket was a miss for me although still good I felt like it lacked some flavor. Definitely MUST try the Elote, very well seasoned and gives you that authentic Mexican street food taste. Also, if you also want to quench your sweet tooth I recommend the stuffed churros! So yummy!

Discovered this gem from two of my fellow Yelp Elite. They have some of the best tacos we've ever eaten and more specifically, some of the best barbecue beef brisket we've ever had. Smoked for 16 hours and served on a hand-pressed corn tortilla, the Beef Brisket Taco is definitely worth the trip. We also tried another one of their specialties, the Smoked Chicken Quesataco, their popular chicken taco with seared menonita cheese. The chicken is smoked low and slow for 2 hours and tasted amazing. The seared cheese in the tortilla just gave it an added kick of flavor. For dessert we finished with the Dulce de Leche Filled Churros and what a way to end. Sweet cream filled deliciousness. This place is a keeper and we will definitely be back here again and again.

Ordered 2 brisket tacos, 1 smoked chicken quesataco and guacamole with chips. I'm in love. I don't remember having brisket meat this good in Jersey. Very moist. The smoked chicken quesataco has a seared cheese on it that's a flavor bomb. The tortillas were perfect and didn't break apart. Guac and chips were very good too. Love that I can actually taste the ingredients and not just salt. Support this place people!

I can eat here every single day of the week and not get tired of the food! The spicy fish tacos are really good! My standard order is rotation of the brisket or chicken burrito bowl with baked beans added. Also recommend the jalapeño if you're up for a little heat! Everything, so delicious and the right amount of flavor!! This is one of my favorite Mexican places in this area.

Delicious food and a warm atmosphere. Some of the best Tacos ever. They smoke the meat in house and if your adventurous you have to try the plantain.

I've tried a lot of taco spots in NE NJ and these are definitely in my top 5. It was easy to order and the food arrived to us quickly. There's not much seating so you'll most likely have to pick up.

Service was friendly and quick. The place is very clean. Ingredients were good quality. Loved the homemade tortillas on the tacos. Guacamole and chips were very fresh and tasty. The tacos birria were the best ones, we thought, and we would return for them. (They are a bit greasy, however.) We tried all the other tacos-- the chicken, pork, brisket, carne asada and plantain. We didn't love any of them. Good quality meat, but too smoky for us. Meat was cold which was weird. The pork was dry. The asada was not smoky, but it was rather flavorless; we added salt. We felt the pieces of carne asada were too big and chewy, too. The plantain taco was pretty okay. We also got the chocolate churros. There are only two in the serving; they were pretty good. Wish they had plain ones, though. So, overall, mixed feelings. We will return for the birria tacos, guac and chips.

INCREDIBLE. Everything on their menu is delicious! Homemade, cooked to perfection, everything on their menu is great. I first tried their tacos at smorgasborg in jersey city ! After that, I've been at their other locations . Highly recommend the brisket and get the melted cheese option. If your looking for a taco spot, look no further!!!

AMAZING the fact that they take smoked meats and combined that with handmade tortillas genius! When you pull up to Carlito's you smell the smokers making deliciousness happen before you even walk in to order. I've had their brisket pork, chicken, guacamole and chips this is a gem in NJ happy I don't live far from either location and even if I wasn't close by I travel for food. Our late takeout lunch was fantastic!! Everything was so yummy, it had me doing the happy dance. The best part to me was that they gave you most toppings on the side. You get to decide what you want, how much you want and if you want it at all. Spices were on point with just the right amount of kick. Flavorful and fulfilling what more could you ask for?!?! Worth every penny!!!

First time ordering and the food came quick, was hot, and everything was correct! I even asked if they could put my sides on the side and they did it. They didn't cheap out on the amount of food either. I'm definitely ordering again and I highly recommend!

This is my go to spot for when I dont feel like spending time looking for a place to eat. I have been there twice so far and have had the brisket, chicken, pork, and fish tacos. Each time the food was fresh and delicious. I am now the office champion for this Taco Spot.

Surprised this place only has 24 reviews because their food is out of this world! This goes for takeout: it's very straight forward with flavor when it comes to how they present things when it comes to the pork bowl; BBQ pork with a subtle hint of smokiness ontop of cilantro lime rice (that isn't over powered by lime or cilantro) with 2 perfectly prepared plantains. And it's been consistent over the 5+ times I've gotten carlitos for lunch! they came with sides of cliantro&onion, pickled onions, pico de gallo, and this green sauce. It's nicely presented, i'm already considering getting it for lunch again today just thinking about their food!

So tasty and so fast to innovate and adapt to so many changes while keeping consistency and deliciousness. Brisket taco and the Maduro {Sweet Plantain} taco are bomb. We ordered inside and got everything perfectly warm, garnishes on the side, and with a smile (behind the mask).

Brand new place for me -- and I'm intensely glad I found them. The food was amazingly flavorful. I had the pulled pork taco and the brisket taco. I mean, WOW. Really fantastic. The Dulce de Leche Churros were also ridiculously good. I like the packaging and the look and feel of the logo. I did take a star off for portion sizes: pretty small for the money. It's not a deal breaker, but expect to order more than you think the price indicates. Each taco is the size of a standard small corn tortilla, so you will go through them quickly. I finished the entire meal in less than 5 minutes. Overall, fantastic experience. Delivery was early and pleasant. Can't wait to order some different things from them to give it a try.

Amazing and fresh tacos can be found here. As you approach the establishment, you can smell the scent of the grill--it's the real deal. It is arguably overpriced for the size of the tacos and the quantity you are receiving, but if you are willing to spend for the great flavor then there's that.

I could not say enough good things about Carlitos! I first had them for the first time last year in the Garden State Mall and I am SO happy they opened this Lyndhurst location. The Brisket is to die for! I am yet to have anything I didn't love here!

Found Carlito's on Seamless through my company lunches, I now order from here on average twice a week. My favorite dishes are the brisket Plato and the fish tacos. The brisket is out of this world, cooked perfectly and very tasty every order. So far I have been trying something new each time I order and I am happy every time. Pros: -The toppings are amazing -I the fact that when you add toppings they put each one on the side for you. -I have ordered around 6 items on the menu and have never been disappointed -Portion is a good size -Price is spot on I would even say on the cheaper side Cons: I have had two orders messed up but they have always made up for it and are very nice about it. But also I have ordered around 30 times so 2 mess ups I'm completely okay with especially in these times.

Absolutely the most delicious. Their tortillas are phenomenal and fresh. Their fish tacos (also so fresh- I guess everything's really fresh?) are delicious. I had a fish taco, chicken quesataco, and the chips and guacamole, and I was delighted by all of it. Wonderful meal!!

How did I not know about this place earlier?! Every bite of food was out of this world. The plantain quesataco is my new favorite meal and I'm already planning on bringing everyone there.

So happy Carlito's is a hit. I happened to be walking by earlier in the pandemic right after they opened. Kid working inside said they already had the lease so they went forward. Menu very sparse then due to limits at that time but they had pork... I'm cool. Since then we've walked 3/4 mile (no car) and ordered just about everything on menu. Some things never made it home, we go into the park al fresco.... always people outside waiting. It's all good. Nice to see a new quality food establishment do well in this time.... I hope.

These are some of the best tacos I've ever had. The taco-bbq fusion is very creative. My favorite taco was the birria with its consome dipping soup. The dulce de leche churros were spectacular.
