This was the best lagoon beach I have ever been on my many Hawaiian trips. It is a public park, with restrooms, with no fees. Parking spaces seem to be enough for the human load. My wife and I with our 12 and 14 y/o son and daughter went at the end of November, around 10am. (Thanks Giving) Ended up staying all day long. It was a lot of fun. The lagoons had crystal clear water, up to about waist line. Water shoes for feet protection are highly recommended, although the bottom is mostly sandy. Sharp rocks and urchins are present in some part. It was sufficiently warm that we could stay in for hours. There were 2 giant turtles in the lagoons, hanging out, and we could see/examine them really close. (You are not allowed to go closer than 2 meters to them in Hawaii, unless they come to you, which will not happen :)). There was a swing rope, that we used and had a lot of fun.
We also explored through the tropical shore forest line, which was unique too. Overall, highly recommended. If the weather is good make it a “no rush through destination” and give yourself sufficient time to explore.
