Be aware that price comparison does not give a real result: the hotel offers "economic" rooms without bedlinen and towels. If you are at the hostel desk, you discover that the total price is lifted with 10 to 20 euro for the rent of multiple linen sets. In total, other hotels are cheaper and in fact better rated.

Stayed one night, working-visit to Karlstad. Very happy all in all. ||Everything one needs, for a very good price, plus breakfast also at the best of prices!||Nice lady in the reception.||||It could not be more central, close to the railway station, shops and right in the shopping district. Close to supermarket, McDonalds, many cafees and restaurants, and other hotels, and also cinema.||||The famous Sandgrund Lars Lerin gallery within a short walk, with Sweden's most famous and extremely talented watercolur-artist. Do go! Lovely location at the river. Spacious and a real experience for all culturally interested persons. Small coffeeshop too.||||Happy with the cleanliness of the rooms (always taking a close look, especially at the matress... don't want bugs...). Clean and neat, though very cold (March), so bring a sleeping cardigan or similar.||||Will be back again next week, for a new working-event. Very happy.

A very short walk from the train station, only about two blocks on the right, then up four floors of stairs OR into the TINY elevator !! Very basic room and tiny bathroom according to North American standards...but....we are in Sweden, more than adequate. Internet was a bit slow to hook up to. Breakfast was fantastic !! What a great way to start the morning, such a large selection !!! Were able to leave our bags at reception while we wandered the city until our train departure.

Carlstad City Hostel has a very favourable location in the city center of Karlstad. Situated only a few minutes walk from the railway station (no taxi needed) and only a few minutes walk from the central square of the city this is a good option for the budget traveller to stay. ||||It is cheap alternative but it is good. The hotel/hostel is situated on the 4th floor of an apartment building. There is traffic outside but you cannot hear a thing. The hotel/hostel has 24 rooms and as there is one bunk bed in each room you can either choose to rent it as a single or for two people. You can rent the room with just the bed and bring sheets and towels yourself or rent them for SEK 70 per night. Cost for bed making will be added if you rent sheets and towels. There will be an additional cost for breakfast and the total cost for a night including sheets, towels and breakfast is SEK 520.||||The rooms are small but the size is enough if you are only going to sleep there. There are two simple chairs, a table and a wardobe. You sleep quite all right in the bunk bed. The combined shower toilet is minimal and the floor will not get dry for some time after a shower. Socks will sure get wet! There is a TV with quite a lot of channels and free internet.||||The breakfast costs SEK 50 and is quite OK. You cannot get an English breakfast but a Continental.||||The staff is very friendly and helpful.||||10 meters to the right when you get out of the building you will find an excellent Italian restaurant, Fontana di Trevi. 10 meters to the the right from the main entrance you will find a nice coffee shop.

We booked a three persons hostel room which costed 750 SEK. Wooden beds, decent mattresses. Extremely small shower combined with toilet, separated by curtain. View on the street, not too noisy though. Be aware that hostel charges 70 SEK for the bedsheets and towels per person, which does not make it such a cheap option if you travel in company. Breakfast is paid for separately too. Ok option for a short stay. Location is very central

Rooms were clean an came with a tv. There was a kitchen upstairs to store our own food and the hostel is in a good location! However in the morning the staff were moody and unhelpful. The breakfast was a poor selection with almost nothing available for vegans. When I asked if they had anything they pretty much grunted at me and handed me half a carton of almond milk. More care could have been put into this given the price of the hostel.

At reception was a young man, Mokhtar, who received us ( we were a large group in many rooms ) and explained everything kindly and with patience. he gave us the code to the door so we could come up later in the evening. Don't forget to ring and get the code if you will be late because the reception is not open all night. he recommended a great pizzeria and we had a perfect stay. One room has a small shower, but all the other rooms had large showers and were very comfortable. the breakfast was VERY Very good. yogurts, all kinds of breads and cereals and cheese and ham etc. We were very pleased!

The room was great, except a really small bathroom but the beds we're good and the room clean. However you need to pay 70 per person if you want towels and bedsheets. You have access to a kitchen where you can cook and eat, everything is available. 75€ for one night for 3 so the price is reasonable.
