This is a modern and recently updated hotel in Singapore's Chinatown. Only 1 1/2 short blocks away from the subway, the Tanjong Pagar MRT Station, so it's very easy to get around on public transportation from here. Within a 10 minute or so walk from the Maxwell Food Centre. But it may be hot and humid, so getting around in a taxi is another option. Also, the hotel is close to a variety of eateries, from the inexpensive, to bars and nicer restaurants. Some very quaint streets with traditional architecture and hip places to shop and eat. Including some nice bookstores. And there are also convenience stores and neighborhood shops nearby, where the locals frequent. A block over is a modern mini shopping center with more eateries. You can get your morning kaya toast and kopi and runny eggs there in the air conditioned building, while planning out your day's activities.
The basic room we stayed in has high ceilings and comfortable beds. So good to come back to a room with air conditioning and shade from the heat and humidity. The bathroom has a standalone shower which has a handheld shower head plus a rain shower. It's high enough for the really tall guests. There is also a bathtub which has a window into the bedroom, but don't worry, you can pull down the shade. A good sized room for 2 guests. There's also a ledge against the window to sit on or place your bags on. Always good to have the extra space for your travel gear.
We didn't opt for the higher floor, and thereby higher priced room. I believe higher floor rooms have access to a lounge, too. No views, but we aren't here on our first visit to Singapore to stay in the room. So much to see and food to eat during a short stay. The rooms are reasonably priced, you can book them through travel search engines to compare prices. Very nice service at the front desk, too. A nice place to stay in Singapore if you don't need to be close to somewhere else otherwise.
