TLDR: BED BUGS. Do NOT stay here!
Two weekends ago, I stayed one night in this place (third floor) and woke up covered in bites all over my neck, face, chest and arms - one quick google search and now I know exactly what bed bug bites look like. What's worse (almost) is the way the hotel treated me. I calmly and discretely told the front desk staff and then the manager about it, and asked for plastic bags to put all of my belongings in since everything that had been in the room now potentially could be carrying bugs or eggs and asked for a refund. They gave me both, and when I asked about the couple of items that I knew would have to be thrown away (again, google) they assured me that their insurance would cover that and just to follow up with them. So I checked out, cancelled all of my plans (so as not to transfer the bed bugs to another hotel) and spent the next 24 hours treating all of my clothing, bags, books, car seats, getting all the beds in our house checked, etc. - instead of a relaxing weekend I had a weekend of chores and cleaning. After all that, I had to email and call the manager repeatedly to ask about reimbursement for the couple of things that I couldn't treat in any of the recommended ways - a heating pad, for example, all totaling under $100 - and to let them know that they definitely had bugs and should treat the room. She told me the room had been inspected and there were no bed bugs - so I guess the classic bites with white in the center, super itchy, turning hard over time were all in my imagination - and that their insurance co would reach out. 10 days later I get a letter in the mail asking me for documentation from a medical doctor to prove these were bed bugs bites - something I gladly would have gotten if they had told me to do so but honestly WHY WOULD I HAVE TO DO THAT? I wasn't asking for medical expenses or compensation for a ruined trip, hours of labor and stress, or even the cost of a new suitcase or shoes or some of the more expensive and much harder to treat items because ultimately I found a way to treat them. But on top of it all, I'm now down $100 for staying there.
I sincerely wish I had made a scene so that at least other guests would know that there was an infestation, because I'm sure they just rented that same room out the same day and who knows how it's spread by now. This is what I get for being a logical, reasonable human being who trusts in the decency of other people.
DO NOT STAY HERE.
