This is a very pretty plaza with nice sitting areas in the atrium. We were able to park on the bottom floor garage and it has a bathroom on the top floor. The shops are very high-end.

Google
Carmel Plaza is a unique outdoor shopping center. They have three levels with high end retail shops, wine tasting, restaurants, various types of stores including Links Club sports bar & entertainment center where you can play simulator golf or practice golf. Latest update, we attended Party at the Plaza on 5/30/25 and my wife and I had a great time! We bought VIP tickets so we got to enter 25 minutes early. There were really good food to try from multiple restaurants as well as various wines to try. The VIP Lounge was nice and had a really huge Chacuteri to eat and it was very good. It got pretty crowded, and it was hard at times to walk around. There was live music and also a Mariachi band, and both were excellent.

Oh, the fall of the of " The best part of waking up" beer was beautiful. Nice stop. Unfortunately, diners at a different table had and obnoxious barking dog. After the third bark they should have been asked to leave.

Google
I love visiting the Carmel Plaza. Location is perfect which is right in the middle of Downtown Carmel. It has a lot of seats which is very convenient and comfortable while feasting on our drinks as we rested from shopping. The lovely plaza on the ground floor is definitely instagrammable.

Nice and cozy mall with free restrooms and cozy seats around

Google
Such a charming plaza in Carmel! We enjoyed strolling around, exploring the unique shops, and admiring the cute village vibes. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Google
We ate it Jeju kitchen. It was casual dining on the patio with our dogs. Great place to meet up with friends. The plaza had other restaurants that were great choices for dinner as well

Jimmy Phung

Google
Great place for dogs to come here and very friendly for pets. If you have pets come here and enjoy your time here, especially the maddog bike shop you can rent one and take your furry friend on a ride to the beach or around the boardwalk. I wouldn't mind coming here again with our furry friend

Yelp
Ocean Ave in Carmel by the sea, complete your vacation. You can't walk on this street, eat, shopping and laugh and leave. Even we end up staying at Lobos lodge and enjoy thoroughly

Yelp
This shopping center is so lovely and beautiful. They have a great selection of mid to high end shopping, and on the lower end a great food selection. There is a burger bar, brewery, small cafe, and even a wine bar. I love how open everything is, and there is tons of comfy seating to accommodate. Also, dog friendly!
google avatar

Yelp
This is a pretty cool shopping plaza. Had a reasonable amount of shops and was fairly festive for Christmas. Grabbed a few drinks and donuts from nearby restaurants. Parking sucks though and we had to park nearby the beach plus walk 15 minutes to this shopping center.
google avatar

Michael J.

Yelp
Pleasant shopping plaza. Numerous interesting restaurants and shops. Paid parking garage beneath, street parking can be challenging during peak periods.
google avatar

Yelp
The Carmel Plaza Shopping Center is a bi-level outdoor pedestrian marketplace offering many possibilities for eating, drinking, and shopping. From Tiffany's jewelry to Bottega Veneta's handcrafted leather goods and everyday essentials, from burgers to seafood, from boba teas to wine tasting, artistic gifts to home decor goods, the Carmel Plaza has something for everyone. There are plenty of public seating options throughout the first level to sit, relax, and enjoy.
google avatar

Alejandra D.

Yelp
This is an outdoor shopping center on the main street of Carmel. You'll find a wine bar, coffee shop, restaurant, and a cheese shop that hubby and I enjoy stopping at. Also shopping like Anthropologie and others. Nice to walk around, public restrooms, and open seating to just chillax. My mom particularly enjoys the store Cole Haan that's located here so we always have to stop here when we come to Carmel.
google avatar

Sean M.

Yelp
Very nice plaza with restaurants, cheese shop, a few wine tasting rooms and a mix of other shops and stores.

Stephen F.

Yelp
Carmel Plaza appears to specifically target high-end customers. Walked entire shopping center. It appears some of the current business owners that cater to mid-level are being pushed out when their leases are ready for renewal.
google avatar

Shehzein K.

Yelp
Really nice place with restaurants and shopping. It's easily walkable and has a lot of seating if you want to stop and grab a bite.

Yelp
This place is always so beautiful, one of a kind, no matter which angle you are looking at. It's always a beautiful and gorgeous day here. Photogenic spots for selfies are everywhere. Very walkable area with great views. Colorful, bright, pleasant, and positive vibes throughout the shopping plaza here. There are elevators or you can use the beautiful stairs to go up or down. I like that you can do fashion shopping for clothes and handbags here, as well as get to the cafe/bakeries, and restaurants. There's not much to dislike here. Public garage is nearby. It's really the landmark or gem of Carmel, California. Local park is right across the street/Ocean Ave. They have a public restroom over there too. Lots of tourist groups and tour guides come here as their buses drop them off on side streets. It really puts all visitors into good moods and you can feel the energy. Everyone takes lots of photos here. Glad to see the spot still thriving during these times. Not many customers outside these days in the lovely open patio areas, but tourists are very obvious to spot. We need more of these kinds of shopping plazas in Northern California. Appreciate the benefits of having one to go to. Great place to catch up, relax, and/or shop. Must love.

Yelp
Feeling boujee? Then this is the place to shop! Honestly the shops here a bit too expensive for my budget. BUT. It's a nice place to window shop. Also plenty of tables where you can grab something to-go from near by & enjoy the open air.
google avatar

Neen M.

Yelp
Honestly I'm not that big of a shopper anymore but love the vibe of this center. In particular how everything hovers around the main courtyard makes it quaint and inviting. I appreciate the various sitting areas for those who like to simply enjoy time and space but there are are plenty great shops around for those who love that part too. Wish there were more restaurants in this center but it's pretty small so I'm sure they have to divy up between dining/shopping/etc.
google avatar

Tiffany D.

Yelp
Nice addition to the main central street of Carmel for shopping! I adore the collaboration of small businesses displaying boutique and gourmet goods in one of these shops. We stopped by a wine tasting corner venue too. It was a leisurely time there. Other than that, lovely area to be.

Yelp
If you're feeling bad and boujeee this is the place to be in Carmel lol! Carmel plaza is elegant with a mix of casual. It's a three story open air mall with a great vibe on the Main Street ! It's nestled in the heart of downtown Carmel, with a mix of specialized brands, gourmet restaurants, fancy shops, wine tasting rooms and more! Think Kate Spade, Bottega Venneta, Anthropologie, Cole Hahn, Tiffany & Co , Pure Barre etc There's plenty to do and great dining here ! Highly recommend if you're in the area plus they do have special events throughout the year !

Yelp
Love the place! Love the stores and the restos! A great way to spend a quiet afternoon to shop and dine.

Yelp
We came here on our San Jose/Monterey trip in the fall. After walking the beach at Carmel, we walked the shops here a bit. Pricey. They just wanted to walk and check it out. We did for 20 minutes or so. Many shops tucked in this area. 2 levels. Fun little walk to pass the time. Worth a peek.
google avatar

Yelp
Quaint and cozy shopping. Everywhere is dog friendly and the people are super friendly as well
google avatar

Yelp
Nice shopping center in Carmel. They have some good stores to shop at, a few restaurants and in a pretty decent location. The third floor has good and clean public restrooms. A good place to start a visit to Carmel.

Chad W.

Yelp
Carmel Plaza has a lot of shopping centers and restaurants. It's hard to find parking but if you can, it's pretty cool to look around that area.. it's on the pricey end.

Sheener P.

Yelp
Beautiful area with fun stores and great restaurants. Wear comfortable shoes and be patient when looking for parking.
google avatar

Yelp
Nice little multi-level outdoor shopping area with boutiques such as Vineyard Vines which was our only destination. Ample street parking throughout the few blocks of shops, it definitely feels like a place to hang out/shop for the day if that's your thing. With the exotic car show happening this weekend, there were cool cars to be seen all around. This alone made it a more enjoyable visit for me.
google avatar

Henry L.

Yelp
We have visited this place a handful of times. Currently even on the weekends it does it get very busy. You will have to find street parking and then walk into the plaza. The first floor is mostly wine tasting and dining. Second floor has some very unique clothing shops, as well as a Jane and Jack, and Anthropologie. The third floor has a yoga studio but not sure if it is still in operation. If this is your first visit to Carmel I recommend this plaza and the surrounding shops too.
google avatar

Erika D.

Yelp
I wandered here with my friend while we were visiting and being tourists. We were looking for the information center and walked around the plaza for a bit, which was super cute. There were some random shops and some better-known stores like Anthropologie, Cole Haan, Bottega Veneta, and Kate Spade. There were also some restaurants and, of course way, a lot more options in the surrounding areas. Parking is easy too, although we did visit on a chilly Thursday afternoon. This whole area is definitely a must if you're visiting and being a tourist, like we were :)
google avatar

David D.

Yelp
Such a great open air mall with lots of great shopping and many fine restaurants to dine at. Located at the start of the street so you can shop here and make your way down the street. A great variety of shops. Close to the beach too.

Yelp
Such a great little plaza to do shopping at in the heart of Carmel! I love this place

Yelp
When you're visiting a new town, what's one of the things you are always inching to do? Shopping! Come on, don't pretend and say you've never had it come across your mind. Even I, a staunch advocate of "no-nonsense traveling" (a.k.a. travel for experience, not shopping!), fall into this trap every once and a while. So let me be the first to say that if you are adventuring into the Carmel, you might want to check out the Carmel Plaza Shopping Center! My girlfriend and I took a quick walk around here when we drove in and thought it was a lovely window into this gorgeous coastal town. The Carmel Plaza Shopping Center is located in the heart of Carmel on the corner of Ocean Avenue and Mission Street. I really dig this spot for a couple reasons. For one, it's SO EASY to travel here because you can get to the shopping center within 5 minutes of Highway 1 by taking the Ocean Avenue exit and following it all the way there; Carmel Plaza is literally the first destination you'll come across in this town. Furthermore, parking actually isn't that bad despite Carmel being such a huge tourist destination; there's PLENTY of street parking EVERYWHERE, and most spots are free for two hours (at least on weekends)! If you plan on coming, I recommend checking out the shopping center when they finish renovating the first floor so you can get the full experience. What I really enjoy about the Carmel Plaza Shopping Center is that it truly embodies the spirit of the town: It's very quaint, cute, and aesthetically pleasing. From the first to the third floor, every inch of the shopping center is absolutely gorgeous; the architecture really gives off that old-town vibe. As you can see from the pictures on Yelp, the best time to go is definitely during winter afternoons when Christmas decorations are up and lights illuminate the entire plaza. Besides the ambiance, I find that the variety of local shops is another reason for visiting the shopping center. In this plaza, you will find art galleries, clothing stores, and even a cheese shop! My favorite was probably Carmel Coffee and Cocoa Bar, a nice little shop that had delicious Belgian Waffles (https://www.yelp.com/biz/carmel-coffee-and-cocoa-bar-carmel). If you only care about brands, don't worry because they even have an Anthropologie. Unfortunately, the best feature about the Carmel Plaza Shopping Center is also its worst. Because the shopping center is very cute, cozy, and tiny, you are not going to find a large list of stores. Even though the map/guide notes that there are 33 different shops, you probably won't care to visit many of them. Despite the fact that I dislike shopping during my travels, I really encourage visitors to walk around the Carmel Plaza Shopping Center. It's a really chill and peaceful place that's perfect for a morning stroll. Even though the Shopping Center is quite small, it's a great symbol of the beauty you will find at Carmel. Oh yeah, and they also have an elevator (yay ADA accessible) + NICE BATHROOMS! Thus, I give this place a "nice-su, you can take your parents here and they'll be happy" rating. Shop well and prosper,

Yelp
Great new shops and restaurants! Very cool place to hang out for a hour or two. That Cheese shop is crazy good. Must stop by at Sur La Table. Nice Cole Haan store! A couple wine tasting venues. Plenty of seats by the fire-pits! Most interesting of businesses assortment!
google avatar

Yelp
Since 2015, whenever I visit Carmel and I need to make a bathroom stop, I come here. In the past, I didn't really shop here, but I love walking through it and taking pictures, I did try the cheese at that shop, highly recommend if you like cheese. Anyway, now that I have 2 little ones in tow, the most recent visit we only come here to use the restroom. lol. We're walking around on Ocean and Dolores and all of a sudden, toddler says "diaper" so my smart husband remembers that the Carmel Plaza has a clean bathroom on the third floor. I probably spent 15-25 min just changing diapers and their clothes. If this sounds familiar, come to Carmel Plaza for a clean spacious changing table and bathroom. So we needless to say, we didn't shop here. I like that it's outdoors and we can enjoy the nice weather we had in November. We also took pictures in front of the tree after the diaper change.

Yelp
I LOVE this shopping center. the white lights at night are so inviting. It entices you to window shop. I love all the boutique shops as well. The public bathrooms in the shopping center on the third floor above Anthropologie are so NICE! They are always clean and very comfortable great counter space and very well maintained. Beautiful shopping center in Carmel.
google avatar

Yelp
We go here every time we come to Carmel. The only thing we have not enjoyed is the constant construction. However, the improvements have been outstanding. This is a very nice shopping center with some great shops.
google avatar

Kristina R.

Yelp
It's a cute outdoor mall mostly geared towards tourists. But when I was a local here, I admit I shopped at the Plaza stores. They used to have a very cool I. Magnin. Alas, they did away with all of the Magnin stores a while back. They've got quite a few high-end store packed into this smallish mall, including Louis Vuitton, Saks, Cole Haan and Tiffany's. But they've also kept their yuppie stores, like Banana Republic and Ann Taylor. J. Crew and Wilkes Bashford are coming soon, if they haven't already opened it already. Mixed in are several snackeries and restaurants, a lovely cheese shop and some souvenir shops that sell things that are made out of shells and say "CARMEL" on them. If your in Carmel and want to avoid being smushed by the crowds on Ocean Avenue, you may want to wander around this mall for a couple of hours. It's rarely that crowded, and I believe you can enjoy a frogurt while you're there.
google avatar

Lambert P.

Yelp
This is a nice outdoor style mall in the busy commercial area of Carmel. There's an Anthropologie here so of course my wife had to pay her respects. The mall itself is not that large but it is on multiple levels but one thing I did notice is they have really nice landscaping which is nice because it is mostly outdoors. Parking around this entire area can be a challenge. Each time we've gone to Carmel we eventually find parking on the street but it's never easy. There's also a Sur La Table here as well as several restaurants and cafes.

Michelle S.

Yelp
Really cute 2 level shopping center , it was nice to see what stores were there that we don't have back home . nicely landscaped , they even have seating downstairs with firepits to keep you warm while people watching :)
google avatar

Matt H.

Yelp
We love Carmel and love coming here when we visit. It's a very nice and secluded environment that has a lot of options for shopping and eating.
google avatar

Vicky T.

Yelp
I would normally give this place three stars...but Wilkes Bashford is my dad's next door neighbor here in Carmel.. what can I say the guy makes some mean peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and has GORGEOUS assistants..seriously though Wilkes is one of the few down to earth nice folks in the industry... and he carries to die for shoes that are the equivalent of one months pay check in his store. Totally geared towards tourists and rich people. I think the only thing I can really afford here is the coffee and Banana Republic. It is a fun place to browse and realize how much folks will spend on clothing that was made for 2 bucks in Indonesia. Their Tiffany's store is so much more relaxed compared to going to Valley Fair or the city. The customer service there is stellar. Good luck finding parking (salutes)
google avatar

Terri N.

Yelp
3 floors of shopping and restaurants! Some entire towns don't have this many awesome offerings within their city limits, and here is just one center in Carmel where they cram the greatness in every corner. A beautiful place to sip a coffee and soak up some sunshine to recharge those shopping batteries. Fun sights around every corner too, so keep your camera ready - hunt down The Fountain of Woof! While I haven't explored every shop in here yet, The Cheese Shop is definitely a highlight on the ground floor. I also haven't tried it yet, but signs posted around the center point out that they offer underground unlimited parking. If you know Carmel, you know the parking spot thing is part of the mayhem adventure. Even if it costs, having a safe long-term place to leave your car while you spend the day exploring is a deal I will not pass up again.
google avatar

Kimberly C.

Yelp
Such a beautiful outdoor mall. I love the outdoor lights that add a little sparkle amongst the buildings. There are various stores from Anthropologie to J. Crew. I wish that the stores were open later in the evening, but most places do close early in Carmel.
google avatar

Jennifer M.

Yelp
Great plaza. I like the Fountain of Woof and the coffee shop on the first floor. I like starting off my visit to Carmel by getting a cup of coffee and letting my pooch drink out of the Fountain of Woof. Check out my Yelp list for more dog-centric spots, http://www.yelp.com/list/chewys-dog-friendly-hangouts-sunnyvale-3

Linda H.

Yelp
Went to the Sugar Farms Marketplace. Cute place with hot sauce, soap bars, massage oil and various items. Lot of items are made locally. Great place for souvenir and to walk around!
google avatar

Kristie E.

Yelp
Under construction in some parts of the building.. very pretty outdoor seating and decor. Parking easy to get in and out.. great location to other restaurants and shops in the area. Some of the staff at Anthropologie was rude!
google avatar

Teresa Y.

Yelp
An adorable mall that we accidentally discovered while looking for a cute cafe. The whole area is darling. It's a great place to come, relax, and do a little shopping. You can do wine tastings at Wrath and the Cheese Shop. Carmel Coffee and Cocoa bar has food and beverages. There's also outdoor seating available on the bottom floor.
google avatar

Crystal J.

Yelp
Even if you don't purchase anything here, it's a beautiful area and worth a stroll. Parking in the garage nearby is $3/hr; if you get lucky, you could probably just parallel park on the nearby streets. Lots of designer shops (i.e. Kate Spade, Anthropologie, J. Crew), food specialty stores (cheese, patisseries, dessert), and lovely landscaping make this little plaza adorable and a must-see while in Carmel. It's also really dog-friendly, which made me just want to steal someone's dog and take it home with me.
google avatar

Betty C.

Yelp
Great little shopping mall in downtown Carmel with a variety of stores-everything from J.Crew and Anthropologie to Tommy Bahamas. We love the indoor/outdoor feel of the shopping mall and it's actually quite beautiful since it's a tri-level. We enjoyed walking around all the shops-many of the shop associates were super friendly towards our pooch and even gave her treats while we were shopping. There are also a few patio restaurants on the bottom floor that are very reasonably priced and of course pooch friendly. We chose the Italian restaurant and it was a great place to enjoy the gorgeous weather in Carmel.
google avatar

Amanda W.

Yelp
This place is every store you need, from anthropologie to vineyard vines! LOVE it. Super cute string lights too, great for a photo!
google avatar

E S.

Yelp
Cute shopping center. There's a really cool cheese store here. When you walk in, the guys that work there greet you with samples on cheese slicers. They pull chunk after chunk after chunk and before you know it you smell awful and are pulling out your wallet. There was no snobbiness as I would've predicted to be in a cheese store, and even more in carmel. Also went to the local cafe where the girl working explained that Starbuck's are "not allowed" in carmel. pretty cool if you ask me. Anthropologie is an upscale boutique that has girly, expensive cute clothes for women. Some things for the house as well. All inthe spirit of carmel.. we walked in after going to the beach. Shopped for an hour, and was really impressed with the clean and warm atmosphere of the plaza. Bathrooms 8/10 for cleanliness, but a really pretty place overall.
google avatar

Amanda L.

Yelp
It's an outdoor shopping center and some of the stores allow you to bring your dogs inside. Ironically, the park just across this shopping center doesn't allow dogs. Carmel plaza has the ambiance of a cosy cottage which houses high-end boutiques like Kate Spade, Tiffany & Co and J Crew. I recommend treating yourself to a nice cup of caramel latte at Carmel Coffee & Cocoa bar after a shopping spree! You'll find tons of owners and their furry K9 friends chilling at the outdoor dining options on Level 1.
google avatar

Giao T.

Yelp
Compliments on their courtyard and beautifully manicured gardens. Nice place to stroll and window shop to see how those on "other side" side live. And by that I mean those who can afford LV, Tiffany's and Sak's. But no bashing here... I did get a couple of Tommy Bahama shirts from the wife during our visit to this plaza and Carmel. Such a lovely community. Must be nice. Ahhh, one day...
google avatar

Sarah C.

Yelp
Fun cute little plaza with cute lawn chairs for you to just chit chat with your friends. More mainstream stores than little boutiques. First floor has restaurants and some cute little shops like The cheese shop and this wine tasting bar. It is cute but most of the stores are more high end.
google avatar

Cathy K.

Yelp
This is just another mall, but the reason I like it is because it is home of the cheese shop! Secondly, they have a nice courtyard and some great benches and furniture throughout the place, so it is a nice place to park for a glass of wine or cup of coffee and watch the tourists go by. My favorite store in this mall is a toss-up between Cole Hahn and Sur La Table, outside of the Cheese Shop, of course. Check out the third floor for a number of galleries.
