On the Grid : Carmelite Cafe

"Tucked away down a narrow passageway linking Grove Hall Park to Bow Road and attached to the Nunnery (a contemporary art gallery run by Bow Arts Trust), you'll find Carmelite Cafe, a hidden treasure for those hunting down the best coffee in the East End. The cafe serves up brunches and lunches from local suppliers including Pie Cart, Little Pedlar Bakery and the highlight - speciality roaster Nude Espresso coffee." - Adam Johnson

Lovely place for a bagel (or pie or quiche) and very relaxing for a bit of weekend down time. Quite an anomaly in the area, glad to have it

Great local cafe attached to an art gallery with a good atmosphere that is popular with locals. They serve lovely coffee and snacks. The lunch menu is very limited and often unsatisfying (although I have a good lamb stew there) so I would recommend this more as a place for a quick meet up rather than a proper meal. They used to have a decent selection of beers but seem to have reverted to only selling Becks which is disappointing.

Wonderful cafe attached to an art gallery. Fantastic staff, great coffee ☕ We visited yet again over the weekend and sadly said our goodbyes to Will, who is leaving the shores of England. Thanks Will, you are an incredible Barista! Perfect smooth and strong Piccolos with such artistic foam work, just to boot! Good luck in all your adventures. We love Carmelite cafe, always worth a visit. AJ and Michael also make perfect coffee and AJs food is delicious made on the spot always fresh and yummy. Highly recommended ☕

Top notch coffee, lovely food & great customer service. So basically perfect! Yes the menu is brief but I like that - means it's all fresh and seasonal. An excellent neighbourhood cafe.

Really lovely little cafe. They do great coffee and cake! Very friendly staff. I often go at weekends for a peaceful working spot. No wifi but I just tether from my phone.

Excellent home made food, very good coffee and lovely cakes. Charming tucked-away location. They Can become quite quickly over-run and sometimes you have to wait for food.

Great coffee and yumi cake. A cute cafe next to the gallery. The staff were so lovely and friendly even though the café was busy! Didn't try the cheese toasty but smelt delicious 😋

I placed an order tonight for Peppercorn's Grille dinner time. I found the food to be great! I ordered the Tortellini Matthew and the Chicken Broccoli Alfredo for my family member. Two sides were French Fries and 1/2 a loaf of bread. this came as a surprise since the main was very good.
