"Carmelo Patti Winery in Mendoza Visit Carmelo Patti’s eponymous boutique winery. He’s often referred to as the most passionate winemaker in Mendoza . Patti has been making wine out of his garage for almost forty years and has developed a cult-like following. He gives personal tours (in Spanish) relaying animated anecdotes and interesting lessons on how to make and drink wine. There’s nothing flashy about this winery, and that’s part of its charm. Patti puts his time and energy into sourcing the best grapes and making his signature cabernet sauvignons, which you can sample from the barrel. This winery produces wonderful wine and the tour is very interesting and enjoyable. Often the owner, Carmelo, leads the tour but the day we visited he was busy driving a forklift as bottling operations were in progress. Instead his daughter led the tour, and her passion and knowledge of the subject were quite impressive. The winery itself is physically not very nice. It is built for production not beauty, however the quality of the wine far exceeds the visual appeal of the location.

Start your Mendoza wine day here, it’s a small family run winery with a high level of dedication to detail and perfecting their craft. Quality over quantity seems to be their MO and it shows in the exceptional taste of their wines. Can’t recommend the tour/tasting at Carmelo Patti enough.

We called into Carmello Patti late in the day and enjoyed a wine tasting with him. He was very friendly and taught us alot about wines in particular storing/cellaring wines. It was agreat experience and I would recommend it highly.

This small winery is special because the winemaker himself gives the tour and is so rightfully proud of the wines and their whole process. It was a really enjoyable and educational tour with a tasting at the end of very good wines!

Do not be discouraged because of the size or initially difficulty in finding the winery! It doesn’t have sprawling vineyards and is situated in a working warehouse, but none of that matters. What you’re here for is the experience and there is no better introduction to wines in the region than a meeting with the one and only Carmelo Patti. The founder and owner himself will greet you and take you through the methods of winemaking / bottling. Of course there is a wine tasting as well which is fantastic, the Cabernet Sauvignon was by far our favorite. Enjoy your time here, it’s well worth a visit!

Great wine! Carmelo delivers the story personally. It's mostly in Spanish, but he does try to speak English. His wives are fantastic!!

Of all the bodega we had been to on this tour, this was not as luxurious. However, the family history behind it is incredible. Our tour guide was the daughter of the Italian immigrant who started the vineyard. The tastings themselves were interesting, especially the blend between the Malbec and 2 cabernets. It was not an in depth tasting but still enjoyed it.

Yelp
This boutique, family owned Bodega was one of my favorite stops during my Lujun de Cuyo wine tasting experience. This 1 man operation is run by Carmelo Patti, who makes and sells all of his own wine. With Sicilian roots, Carmelo has an old school style to winemaking and doesn't apologize for it either. He is a great storyteller and his wines, all aged a minimum of 6 years before release, are a throwback to the old school. Do yourself a favor and visit Carmelo at his Bodega while visiting Lujan.
