The 13 Best Hotels in Amsterdam Offer a Chance at Canalside Living | Vogue

"This 17th-century townhouse-turned-guesthouse is a soulful three-suite homestay by Dutch entrepreneurs Carmen Atiyah de Baets and chef Joris ter Meulen Swijtink, inspired by intimate lodgings like Enrique Olvera’s B&B. Spread across two historic canal houses once owned by Swijtink’s grandmother and linked by a serene private garden, it hosts glamorous soirées beneath wisteria pergolas and encourages guests to settle in—spin records in the lounge, linger in the garden, or savor French toast with salted espresso cream at the all-day café. Thoughtful touches run to complimentary kitchen snacks and Aesop toiletries, plus a boutique curated with pieces from labels like Pien Studios and Flore Flore by Florian van Zuilen." - Siobhan Reid

I had such a lovely lunch at Carmen; ordered the soup with toast (which consisted of some of the best bruschette with salt and olive oil that I’ve eaten) and everything was fresh, delicious, and heartwarming. The dining room is so peaceful and cozy, will definitely be coming back !

A very quiet place with friendly staff. We got a lovely table near the window. Our plates was simple, but everything was delicious and high-quality. We'll be back to try other items on the menu and their pastries

Stayed here a few times now on short trips to Amsterdam. Rooms are very cozy, great beds, linens, and toiletries! Large size rooms and bathrooms. Love that the breakfast in the cafe is now included in the room, the food is excellent and probably where I would go eat in Amsterdam anyway. Love the service at the boutique, the salespeople are lovely and huge changing rooms. Could easily spend a whole day here! Wonderful place to start with a long brunch with friends, then do a bit shopping, and end it with a slice of cake at the bar, and if you're staying in the rooms - then curl up with a book and a record in one of the shared living rooms or if the weather is nice, a drink in the garden. They are also always organising small events like talks, dinners, etc. so there is always something interesting going on. The last time we were there, they had invited a guest chef and we had a great night at an outdoors dinner! It's also in an incredible location, just a short walk from all the museums and galleries, 10 min from the train station. Really wouldn't stay anywhere if you want a luxurious but discreet, indie, experience.

It was on my list to visit. I loved their outside seating. First we were sat inside at the bar but asked if we could sit outside. When a table freed up, the waitress sat us outside. The dishes were good! I loved their coffee. I didn’t look at the clothing store but the items seemed very trendy and nice.

Lovely staff & service, very nice curation of the shop as well as the menu of the kitchen. All delicious, simple and seasonal and the atmosphere of the kitchen (inside and the garden) sparkles vacation feeling in a warm and quiet way. A hidden gem in Amsterdam.

Went here for the cafe. Coffee was really good. My friend also really likes their chocolate cake so we tried that as well, it was paired with a sour cream side i am not sure exactly what the mixture is. However in my opinion the cake was very dry, and the side cream was not so tasty. Space was nice. Nice staff as well.

I went there for the food, and it did not disappoint. The food was delicious and the service amazing. The two dishes were chicken and fish, so nothing vegetarian. Only additional thing is that is was quite hyped up, so expect it to be a bit loud (a group of girls was blasting instagram reels right next to us).

We went to the café for breakfast and reserved a table by paying 10 euros in advance. The location was nice, but we were disappointed to learn that the coffee machine was broken only after receiving the menu. If we had known earlier, we probably would have left. We also asked for a dessert, but nothing from the list was available. Additionally, they were out of salmon. The yogurt and granola were good, but the bread and butter were burnt. Overall, it was expensive, and I wouldn’t come back.
