I recently found myself in here for a second time to look for a book for our beloved community manager's baby. I found an awesome book about a giraffe. I hope Neil and Emily's baby likes it.
People aren't a fan of this viewpoint, but I'm not a huge fan of bookstores. We live in the 21st century. A land where e-books, Kindles, and audiobooks rule the world. I do order books online every now and then. Most recently I had to order two books that would've cost me 50 dollars total... I found them through another bookstore(via Amazon) for 12 bucks.
Anyway... on to Carmichael's Kids. While I'm not a huge fan of bookstores, I do like that Carmichael's exists. If a physical copy is what you seek and they have it, why wouldn't you buy it from a local shop rather than waiting on shipping?
Carmichael's Kids is no different. It's geared towards children's books. The first time I visited, it was as a tag-along. I liked the initial look-around to see how they do things.
This store has everything that you'd want in a kid's section. Children's books. Plush animals. Limited toys. Knick-knacks. The employees are also helpful and they keep the store tidy. The prices also seem to be reasonable. Being in the Highlands in a busy area, I half expected the prices to be inflated a bit. Fortunately, I haven't had that issue yet.
The last thing to mention would be the gift wrapping. If you purchase a book, they'll gift wrap it for you free of charge. That's a nice perk. If you're on your way to a baby shower or children's birthday party, this is a must visit.
