Cuban was very good. Service a little slow. Sandwich was very hot. Onion rings I would have loved to tasted hot. They were cold.

A business associate took me here after a nice smoke down the street. I am a big Cuban sandwich fan so this is the place. The beer was very cold and plentiful. Had the sausage appetizer suggested and was very pleased. The black beans and rice with some Cristal’s hot sauce was a great selection. The sandwich did not knock me over as expected. I imagine my anticipation was unreachable. Thin on the ingredients. Expected more meat and cheese so the bread was overwhelming. I’ll come back. 👍

Google
I thought the Tampa Cuban sandwich was going to be small based off the picture I saw here but it was bigger than I expected it to be and tasted great. My wife enjoyed her chicken caesar salad.

Google
The onion rings were the best, followed by my oysters. The Cuban sandwich was average. They missed one of the dishes. I had to remove a star as when I got the check they charged for the ice and the crackers for the oysters. That wasn’t on the menu and they removed it from the check. Then they tried to add a credit card fee, even though I was paying cash. Double check your receipt everyone.

Google
I mean the service is fast usually around 6-7pm. The options are good. Pasta, pizza, Cuban sandwiches. The Ziti is fine, the meat sauce isn’t the best. The fries are amazing, Cuban sandwich looks okay. But overall, food is good for its price. The atmosphere is more on the quiet side, not a lot of people there, and seating was very good, good lighting and views of Ybor downtown restaurants. I’d recommend you to try this.

Google
Food was ok, a bit over priced but the portions were huge. My biggest complaint though was the wine pour. I even asked the server if that was a normal pour, he said "yes, 6 ounces". No way that was even close. The picture is how much was poured before I took a drink. The shrimp and crab tasted off, enough so that I didn't eat half of it and left it on the table. Otherwise, great service. I won't be back anytime soon.

Google
I had an excellent dining experience at Carmine’s Restaurant! I ordered the chopped steak, and let me just say—it was seasoned perfectly and cooked to absolute perfection. Every bite was full of flavor and truly satisfying. My lady ordered an American hamburger with American cheese, and it was just as impressive—simple, classic, and done exactly right. The fries were just how we like them—not too wet or greasy, with a nice crisp. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, making it a comfortable place to enjoy a great meal. Our waitress was fantastic—very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our visit. If you're looking for good food and even better service, Carmine’s is definitely worth checking out!

The Cuban sandwich was awesome. Deviled crab was very tasty. Happy hour margarita was excellent. We will be back. Also loved the French fries.

Yelp
When Ybor City you gotta have a Cuban Sandwich! We found Carmine's. The place has history. Is huge with a comfortable bar. We bellied up starving and thirsty. We waited and waited. Finally the bartender stopped by and dropped menus turned on his heels and he was off to win the came to continue a conversation with bar patrons. No offer of drinks just menus. So we waited again.. finally another stop. We each ordered local beers and then he forgot to pour as he was off to see the bar patrons. A glance caused him to remember.. finally beers. Seizing the moment we each ordered their famous Cuban Sandwich. The sandwich arrived and did not disappoint however the prep time was long and our beers were getting low. The bar patrons were getting louder and the bartender was an instigator. So no 2nd beers for us. 3 stars for food 1 star for food runner 0stars for bartender

Yelp
What's going on? it seems that every year Carmine is getting worse. I usually pick up devil crabs During my birthday and noticed The service and food quality is going down to 0, and paying more than premium? The sad part that even when they messed up my order, the manager or supervisor thats was there ( short lady) did not step up and done anything for the inconvenience. I can only pray that you guys do better and it would be sad to let go of something that was really good once.

Yelp
If there were six stars I would give it that! I tried the Cuban sandwich and the fried green tomatoes. The Cuban sandwich was delicious and the portion sizes for the price were great. The service was great and the atmosphere was great! If I ever hear of anyone going to Tampa I will gladly recomm

Yelp
Beautiful inside! We came here specifically to try the Deviled Crabs, recommended to us by a local. It was very tasty, different than anything crab we get in WA! We also had the Italian sausage appetizer which was really good! Our waitress was awesome, so attentive and friendly!

Yelp
Service was great. We came for a late lunch and were seated promptly. Order the deviled crab, mini size. This was the highlight of our meal - highly recommend. Came for the Cuban sandwich and black beans and rice. The Cuban sandwich was not good, it was like they gave up halfway through making it. The meat was not hot, the cheese was not melted - cold inside. The beans are not what I expect of traditional Cuban black beans. No flavor. Come for the deviled crab, have no other expectations.

Yelp
Atmosphere - Nothing special. Which is a shame because all other aspects of the dining experience were very good. The chairs and tables are nothing special and the bar and it's patrons tend to dominate the dining area Service - Very Good. Our server was pleasant and attentive. Food - Very Good. I ordered the lasagna, which came with a side salad. The lasagna was delicious. It was served hot and the portion was ample. I chose the Italian salad, which was very good as well. Overall Value - Very Good. The menu is huge with lots of variety. Good food and service combined with a good portion size and reasonable prices make for a very good value.

Yelp
We stopped for lunch and were one of the first patrons so we got a nice window seat. Our server was quick to take our drink order and I like that they give you a pitcher of iced tea for your table. The menu has a nice variety of apps, salads, sandwiches and meals. My lunch was going to be my dinner, so I went for a baked rigatoni, which came with a choice of a side salad and I chose Caesar. The salad was a nice size and had a good flavor. The rigatoni came out very quick and was steaming hot. The sauce was good and there was plenty of cheese, so overall it was a good meal. I remember when restaurants gave you bread, but now you have to pay for it. I also didn't like the 4% charge for using a credit card. Atmosphere is ok.

Yelp
Carmines Ybor shout out to Alexandra and the other staff! The deviled crab and calamari were superb

Yelp
I've loved Carmine's for years and went to lunch recently with mom to get my deviled cream fix. Great service, vibe and window watching of the crowds on 7th. Ybor's party pandemic Gentrification is on full display and at Carmine's it feels like the prices are much higher than they used to be. Plantain chips, a Cuban, salad and a side of rice and beans came to over $80 with tip! 4 stars because wtf.
google avatar

Sunil R.

Yelp
I got the Cuban sandwich which they said is their specialty and it was good. It looked very inviting from the outside and the decor was nice. Our waiter was friendly but the food took a while to get out.

Yelp
Great place to stop in for a drink if on seventh Avenue in Ybor City. Great bar for great drinking, friendly staff. Jenga & connect four available for the competitive spirits! Awesome ambiance, enjoy a drink in the cool breeze Tampa bay offers! Carmine's is a great spot to give a try if you are in the area!

Yelp
Carmine's in Ybor boasts a beautiful location right on 7th Avenue, making it a prime spot for dining in the heart of Ybor City. I visited on a quiet Tuesday evening, which provided a peaceful dining experience. However, it's worth noting that on weekend nights, Ybor transforms into a bustling hub of club hoppers and partygoers, so be prepared to navigate through some foot traffic to get in. The charm of Carmine's hits you the moment you walk in, with its inviting ambiance and historic feel. However, my initial impression was slightly dampened when I noticed an appetizer plate at my booth that hadn't been thoroughly washed, still bearing remnants of pasta sauce. I placed it at the edge of the table, and while the server took it away promptly, there was no apology or acknowledgment, which I found a bit unsettling. Later, I ordered a mojito, and halfway through, I discovered a random piece of food in the glass. I discreetly removed it and placed it in a glass of water at the edge of the booth. Again, the server took it away without comment but quickly brought me a fresh drink. The lack of attention to detail with the cleanliness and the absence of an apology from the server were disappointing. Despite these hiccups, the quality of the food and drinks more than compensated. The Ybor Margarita and mojito were both delicious, with generous pours that perfectly complemented the vibrant atmosphere. I ended the night with a Cinnamon Toast Crunch shot, which was delightful and ranks as my second favorite in Tampa. The highlight of my meal was the Grouper Piccata. Unlike the usual baked Chicken Piccata, this dish was floured and fried to perfection. The angel hair pasta that accompanied it was perfectly cooked, making every bite a delight. The portion was substantial, so much so that I couldn't finish it at the table. However, it was so irresistible that I found myself reaching for it again at 1 AM, savoring the leftovers straight from the fridge. In summary, Carmine's in Ybor is a gem for anyone seeking delicious food and a vibrant dining experience. While the service and cleanliness could use some improvement, the incredible flavors and generous portions make it worth a visit. Whether you're a local or just passing through, Carmine's offers a taste of Ybor's rich culinary scene in a setting that's as charming as it is historic. Just be prepared for a lively crowd if you decide to visit on a weekend night!

Yelp
Came for a quick lunch to what I was told is a Great local place for Cuban style sandwiches. Our group of 3 had no reservation but the restaurant wasn't full so were seated after a short wait to confirm other than visually u the open floor plan they weren't in a "rush"-Yeah it made no sense to us either. Our waitress was pleasant and took our drink and lunch orders of two deviled crabs, a Tampa Cuban, a Cuban roast pork sandwich, a side of rice and black beans, a Washington Apple cocktail with no sours, an Arnold Palmer and a soft drink. Drinks came out fast, positive comments about the cocktail. Lunch came out in pieces the soup and 1 deviled crab, then a wait, then the 2 sandwiches and a wait, and the second deviled crab and side of black beans and yellow rice never came out. After the sandwiches the waitress asked if everything had arrived - all hadn't but she said she'd check -but never came back with the missing items. The food was good, but not so exceptional that the service lapses can be overlooked. We had an appointment so we made sure the missing items had weren't on our bill, paid, tipped and left.

Yelp
Love the spaciousness and high ceilings. Service is excellent! Staff is wonderful and accommodating.
google avatar

Yelp
Cuban sandwich was just ham no pork. The Arnold palmer tasted like instant tea with a little lemon
google avatar

Yelp
Little shady not accepting Apple Pay and then charging an extra fee to use a credit card !!! Always loved Carmine's - been coming since late 80's...you guys are better than that. Come on.
google avatar

Wit E.

Yelp
They have removed all the fish items from the menu along with other things and have consistently gone downhill over the last year. I should have known where things were heading when they changed the Devil Crab lettering on the exterior to say Deviled Crab. I no longer recommend this as a food spot in Ybor.
google avatar

Denise W.

Yelp
Carmines is a staple in Ybor City.. it's well known for their great food, deviled crabs and fantastic Cuban Sandwiches if you ask me. The consistency is refreshing that no matter the time or day you're always gonna have hot delicious food. I can't hit Ybor without stopping in her for just what you see. They will always do me right. Drinks are always good and the service as well.
google avatar

Brittney A.

Yelp
DAMN GOOD CUBAN we stumbled upon Carmines this weekend for dinner and so happy we did. It was a really great experience and our bartender, whose name we failed to catch, was very nice and made excellent drinks. the Cuban sandwich was surprisingly so good. Cubans are so hit or miss for me and this HITTT. Great roast pork and I recommend getting it extra pressed. Fries were yummy! then we had to try their Deviled Crabs (which honestly it's more of a Scotch Egg but crab instead of egg and sausage) and really happy we did. Absolutely delicious and unique - use the Hot Sauce to amp it up. Moderately priced and really great menu - will go back!

Yelp
Unfortunately I can't say too much positive about the eponymous restaurant of Ybor. There's way better places in Tampa for Cuban and Italian food especially for the value. After a 20 minute wait, we were seated and greeted by server who didn't really exude a desire to be here. But we'll get past that because it's a tough job dealing with people. The ginger ale ordered was flat and lacked any zing to start, but the server said they'd check with the manager. But really the Cuban Roast Pork was flavorless. Surely the kitchen can try making a roast pork equally as good as some hole-in-the-wall or cafeteria instead of going through the motions. Meat was dry and lackluster. The Cuban Sandwich was not pressed, not a hoagie as someone else reviewed, but rather a baked warmed sandwich with sliced meats on Cuban bread without flavor. Faedo, Spain Restaurant, West Tampa Sandwich are just some that make a great sandwich at lesser prices. Definitely more of a place for tourists who don't know any better. And they do have an up charge to use your card. Good luck. YMMV.

Yelp
Very diverse menu where you can experience authentic Cuban recipes, Italian inspired dishes, traditional Floridian seafood fare and many other options for any palette. The Cuban dishes were generous and flavorful! We also experienced the shrimp piccata and Caesar salad which were also very good! Nina was wonderful, she got to us after a service mix up and offered us dessert to make up for it! You really can't go wrong when there is an espresso martini on the menu along with a dirty martini plus blue cheese olives which were both absolutely amazing! Industrial modern vibe. We enjoyed it very much.

Yelp
Loud on a Friday not too crowded. 20% gratuity for parties of 6 or more. The crab cakes say world famous but aren't good. Like at all. What you see pictured is what was left on the table. I don't feel like this place is true authentic Italian food. But we also didn't try recommended selections. You will need to add seasoning to it. Service was good. Lasagna was hot and cheesy. Order the ybor margarita with anejo (you're Welcome)
google avatar

Dave D.

Yelp
Bloody Mary. Good. Aperol Spritz good Italian sausage starter good. Homemade sausage in a garlic butter sauce. Onion rings. Good batter but only fair. Tampa Cuban sandwich seemed like a good size sandwich for the price. Good Spanish bean soup. Good nothing over the too. Good flavors. Black bean soup. Wife thought it was just a side of beans. Not good. Side of cuban bread. I have had better. Seemed more italian then cuban. Bar staff was really good. Very busy and she maintained her pace. Worse part is no where does it mention 4% add for credit cards. Poor service staff. Raise food prices dont take sneak a fee in there.
google avatar

Aimee J.

Yelp
Stopped in after a walk down the waterfront to Ybor. It was that weird time between lunch and dinner, so they weren't super busy, but steady. Service was ok, a little delayed and it seemed like my table hadn't been wiped down before I was seated. Had to locate my own silverware and napkin. I ordered the mini deviled crab. It was full if crab, tasty, maybe a little dry but good. The Tampa mojito was nice and refreshing! I ordered the lunch special, 1/2 a cuban + rice and beans or soup. I went with the Spanish soup. It was absolutely delicious! It did have a piece of bone it it, thankfully I didn't bite down or my teeth would have been damaged. So please use care. The cuban was good.
google avatar

Justin M.

Yelp
The food was okay, the drinks were okay, the server was great. But they added a 4% credit card fee to the bill which was never mentioned, and isn't noted on the menu. I don't mind paying for a meal out, but accepting credit cards is a necessary cost of doing business. If you want to pass that cost on to me simply because I'm spending $350 at your restaurant I'll simply dine elsewhere in the future. Hope the $10 was worth losing a customer over.
google avatar

Yelp
I'm so sad to write this review, as this was my go-to spot in Ybor City 30 years ago. I'm visiting family and decided to visit my old favorite. The food was mediocre at best, and the service was not good. Our Cuban sandwich was meh, the plantains were cold and the crab cake was flavorless and cold. I'm told the Spanish bean soup was pretty good. What happened Carmines? Your founders would be so disappointed. I won't be back.

Kaitlynn P.

Yelp
Gale was wonderful!!! Will definitely be back again! Definitely try Gales Mojito if you're feeling a delicious and refreshing drink :)
google avatar

James T.

Yelp
This place really hit the spot for me. It can be hard to choose a restaurant when in Ybor, but Carmines really impressed and I wouldn't hesitate to go again. In fact would probably go out of my way! Got the traditional Cuban mojo pork with rice and beans and it was fantastic! The dinner salad it was served with was one of the tastiest salads I've had in a long time. Further, the restaurant wasn't very crowded so I got to sit at the window by request and received great service. The pricing of the food is reasonable as well. Definitely hits all the right spots for me, I will be back!
google avatar

Debra F.

Yelp
Carmine's really set the bar for us. We happened upon it when we were walking the street, exploring Ybor. We could not figure out what to get because all the food on the menu sounded so good to choose from. The server made some suggestions and it flowed from there. Sitting at the window, we got a great view of the passersby. The inside temperature was agreeable and the atmosphere was comfortable, with an eclectic customer base and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. There were groups and solo diners...that was nice to see, for me. It was a good indicator that this was comfort food at its finest. As we were being seated, we peeped at others' plates and was instantly sold in the Spanish bean soup. The steak was tender and all the food paired well with each other. They enriched each other's flavors and the soup was a nice touch to the cultural cuisine. With the drinks, our bellies were too full for dessert but that's more reason to return!
google avatar

Joel N.

Yelp
Wish I could give this zero stars. Trash food and even worse service. Had to send 2 plates back. The management was useless. I have never written a bad review... ever. But i need to make sure everyone knows to stay away from this joke of a restaurant. BE WARNED
google avatar

Jeremy O.

Yelp
Food was really good and service was fast - I had an amazing lunch combo and the meatball appetizer.

Dave T.

Yelp
Always a wonderful meal. Deviled crab is the best, chicken parm is fantastic. Great service, always friendly and prompt. A Tampa institution that has stood the test of time and I can only hope continues for many years to come.
google avatar

Paula F.

Yelp
I have been here many years ago and it was amazing. We went back today and definitely not satisfied with the meals that we wanted we asked for the escape they didn't have it. They had no types of steak at all. The pork with the rice and beans was so dry. They poured liquid over it to try to make it a little more moist, but it was not good. Rice had no flavor and the beans also had no flavor. I'm very used to cooking Cuban food. I came to Miami, and this was definitely not on the Cuban side at all. I did complain and they gave me the meal for free. I also had the crab and I've had that numerous times before and today it was just not all that so I'll leave the rest up to you all was a little bit rude also
google avatar

Yelp
My friends and I had a reservation for 1:30pm on Saturday afternoon. We were sat precisely at that time and tended to immediately by a waitress. She was very attentive, informative and diligent. We ordered: Toasted Cuban Bread - 5/5- can't ever go wrong there. It was freshly pressed and delicious. Calamari- 4/5- it was a bit under cooked and the sauce included was not warm. Cuban sandwich- 5/5- No complaints. A standard cuban. The bread crunchy and delicious . Shrimp fettuccine Alfredo- 5/5- Again no complaints. It was creamy, cheesy goodness. Steak Milanese- 4/5- The steak was cooked perfectly, however the rice and beans it came with lacked in flavor. I added salt and pepper and hot sauce to give it a little something. Chicken Marsala- 5/5- The entire table wished they ordered this. We all had tasted a bit of each plate and agreed this was the winner. The sauce was perfection and the side of angel hair topped with the Marsala sauce was amazing. Will definitely be returning to have this dish again.

Yelp
This is an Ybor institution with a long history serving the Tampa community. The combination of mostly Cuban/Italian food has many hidden gems. A wide variety of moderately good to excellent dishes dot their menu. Years ago when our wharehouse was located on 39th St. it was commom to hear the words, "We're going to Carmine's". The Crab Enchilada, Cuban, Deviled Crab, Lasagna, Palomilla, Sandwich and Beans Combo and long list of appetizers turned us in to regulars. Right on 7th Ave, in Ybor, for us it was a lunch spot with decent food priced right. There is also a long bar that gets very busy selling cocktail specials. These days the foods more pricey, the menu seems larger and I saw at the bar a nice list of draft beers including my favorite Peroni. It's a great place to go in a group or with family and put the feed bag on. Parking was much easier and free back then, now all parking is metered, in charged lots or owned by the Colombia Restaurant.
google avatar

Amber R.

Yelp
I'd give zero stars if I could. No idea if the food is as good as it used to be or if they know how to make a proper cocktail. Sat at the bar for 15 minutes with zero acknowledgment from either of the bartenders. Restaurant was fairly empty and there were open seats at the bar. We left. I'll let you know how Barterhouse is...
google avatar

Maria G.

Yelp
This place is a Tampa staple. We brought our Canadian cousins here for lunch to taste the authentic Tampa flavors of Cuban sandwiches and deviled crabs.
google avatar

Breck T.

Yelp
The Cuban's here are the best anywhere. They offered the non pressed but that's not what we got. Haha I brought my daughter from Denver who that they were first from Miami. I set her straight. It's all Tampa baby. The plantains were awesome, the black beans were awsome and the ambiance were all AWSOME. The service was right on point and the food came out as it should, not to soon or to long. Perfect meal is all I have left to say. Thanks guys
google avatar

Sharon V.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious. I had the Gales Way Mojito, meatballs and the sautéed Italiana with Chicken. My waitress was fabulous. Thank you Daija!
google avatar

Kay M.

Yelp
It was a nice time. The lasagna & chicken Alfredo was great. Huge portions ! Mozzarella sticks were ok light breading .. got a sangria with it ..yum

Yelp
3 is average and I think this place was average. From the food to the service it was as expected. The atmosphere js lively, and the view of 7th street adds some interest to your dining experience. Probably won't go back, but it worked out Ok for a late Saturday decision to find a place to eat in Ybor City. As others have mentioned, they do tack on a 4% credit card fee to the bill automatically. Ask to have that removed if you pay with cash (if they accept that - I didn't try).
google avatar

Melanie P.

Yelp
Came in on a Sunday afternoon and had the best experience. My friend and I sat at the bar and were greeted immediately. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable. It was very nicely decorated and had a great vibe to it. We got an Italian coffee which tasted absolutely amazing! Definitely coming back to work my way down the menu
google avatar

Dana M.

Yelp
Great happy hour margarita. Beautiful interior. Quality food but spendy. Waitress was friendly but service was slow. Wasn't busy that day but took awhile to get seated. Had the grouper fish fillet and fries ($24)--tasty but fish fillet was very small--half size of bun. Jumbo crab cake was good.

Alexis M.

Yelp
The order shrimp Alfredo and shrimp angel pasta they ran out of shrimp and chicken. We were seated quickly and the waiter was nice. The ambiance is an old school eatery but the bathroom is in a dark alley of the restaurant and needs better lighting. I also don't get the Cuban Italian theme. Overall I would not recommend.
google avatar

Shawnda L.

Yelp
This is my 2nd review, the first time we came I had a limited diet I couldn't really eat but this time it was all open! I ordered the chicken Alfredo and my boyfriend ordered the chicken Parmesan we both assumed that we would be taking home leftovers and that was incorrect. We ate everything along with toasted keto bread it was delicious. We also ordered the Ybor city margarita and the Mojito. Now I love margaritas but didn't love this one the Mojito on the other hand was very good. I was not disappointed and will definitely come back. We did visit on a Friday night and we got to sit in front of the window so we could enjoy people watching in Ybor, which if you're familiar with Ybor you know that it's on entertainment. It was a good night and I love my city for the fact that you can step out for a couple hours have a good drink a good meal and enjoy what Ybor has the offer.
google avatar

Sarah B.

Yelp
Out Server Sebastian was very nice and friendly. Portions are a average size and we ended with a couple to go boxes. I had the chicken piccata and it was cooked nicely. My only complaint is the piccata sauce was a little bland. Overall a decent restaurant worth average prices. I believe the piccata was $22. The restaurant is split with a dining room and a large bar with a couple tables on the other end.
google avatar

Yelp
Unexpectedly ended up dining in this restaurant last night while on a walk in Ybor. My boyfriend and I were so pleasantly surprised by how amazing our dinner ended up being! We ordered the onion rings and mozzarella sticks to start off, which were both so good! It's hard to find fried food that isn't too greasy, which both items were not and tasted fresh. For an entree I ordered the Baked Ziti with Ricotta & Meat Sauce... mouth watering! The ricotta is extra, but SO worth it. As for dessert we indulged in their Flan, which was to die for! Sweet, creamy, and just the right amount of sauce. Lastly, our server Liz was very kind and friendly. She helped me with picking out my entree and giving her opinion on menu items. Thank you Liz & Carmines for a tasty and overall great dinner service! Can't wait to be back

Yelp
Best Cuban sandwich around! I love this place because it is full of culture, delicious food and has a great staff.

A bit of Ybor City history on 7th street. Service was good and for a Wednesday afternoon very busy. Lunch menu was slightly off from their on line choices but there were enough to choose from. They did allow us an a order of eggplant parmigiana that wasn't on the lunch specials. Food was good and portions decent size with pricing average.
