Carmine Street Beers

Easily one of my favorite beer stops in the city. The draft list was stacked—thoughtfully curated with a ton of range across styles and a really strong mix of producers. Everything I saw on tap felt intentional, with quality and freshness clearly prioritized. I didn’t take any cans or bottles home this time, but the to-go selection still caught my eye: a deep bench of well-chosen options, including some especially intriguing picks from local breweries and standout East Coast producers. And if you’re a stout fan, don’t miss it—the stout lineup was absolutely dialed in, from rich, roasty classics to more decadent, pastry-leaning pours. A must-visit for anyone who appreciates a well-run program and a genuinely great beer lineup. The owner was super friendly and easy to chat up.

Carmine Street Beer is the kind of spot that makes you want to slow down and actually look at what you are drinking. It is a small, family owned bottle shop and bar that has been holding down Carmine since 2013, and it still feels personal in the best way. You walk in and it is shelves on shelves of smart picks, from local NYC favorites to classic European styles, plus a tight draft lineup that changes often so there is always something new to try.  What really seals it is the staff. They are the kind of beer nerds who are happy to meet you where you are, whether you want a familiar lager, something funky, or a let me try something weird moment. You can grab a pour, sip while you browse, and they will genuinely help you land on a bottle or can that fits your mood. The space is cozy with a small bar and a handful of seats, more of a relaxed neighborhood hang than a scene, which makes it easy to pop in solo or with a friend.  No food, no fluff, just a seriously curated wall of beer and a vibe that says you are in good hands. If you care about variety beyond the usual hazy IPA parade, this place is a yes every time. 

Great craft beer store and bar. The family that owns the place is great. Always great beers on draft, ton of cans and bottles to choose from on the shelves too. Def stop by if you're thirsty.

Owner is a cool dude and you can pretty much guarantee there is at least one phenomenal beer on tap at all times. Excellent spot!

This hidden gem is a must-visit for any beer enthusiast. They have a wide selection of beers on tap as well as an extensive selection of cans and bottles of you're just looking to buy some to bring home. Their menu is fully integrated with Untappd, which is an added bonus if you use the app. The bartender was knowledgeable and seemed like an overall great guy. I will definitely come again.

I recently visited a craft beer bar that really stood out for its selection of cans and bottles. Their array of choices caters to all sorts of craft beer aficionados. A personal highlight was the Hop Butcher on tap. The service here deserves mention - not only were the staff friendly, but also knowledgeable, adding to the overall experience. Additionally, the glasses provided for the beer were perfect, enhancing the drinking experience. This bar is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates good craft beer.

The owner will not throw out a pizza box for a customer who buys 2 draft beers and 4 to go and tips 10% on the total of the 6. Good new selection. Could fill in bourbon county collections

Solid selection of beer with about a dozen on tap too! Wide variety of beer, including a selection of local cans too. I do wish they had the prices a bit more clear for the cans, since I didn't see them posted anywhere. Regardless, I will return in the future to try more of their selection!

Small but mighty spot for beer. There are about 14 beers on tap. I was surprised by how much stout representation there was on a summer day. Some of the beers are quite pricey, so be sure to check the prices, which are well labeled. You'll see some special craft names, including some locals. What I don't understand is while there are lots of cans for purchase, most are not refrigerated. My favorite type of beers should really be refrigerated, so I didn't end up buying anything, not knowing how long those beers were on the shelf.

Stopped in meandering through the West Village. Great people, great beer, cool little joint when you're thirsty. Stay thirsty!

Great little spot for a nice cold beer in the village. The key to this place is Steve, who now took over as the King of Carmine Street. This dude told me and my buddy things about beer, stouts & ales that we never know. However, when we saw the way he cleans the glasses and hoses them down before he pours your beer, it's mesmerizing. Oh and be prepared to drink your beer in a wine glass. Magic!

Best beer shop in the West Village. Excellent to go options and well as 14 killer draft options for on-site consumption. Dean and the family are awesome and very kind people. I would highly recommend this joint for locals and visitors alike !!

Carmine Street is a fantastic spot to grab a pour or two and/or fill up on craft bottles and cans for takeaway. The selection here is amazing. They bring in a lot of local and non-local offerings and many different styles. This place is a chill neighborhood hangout with friendly staff. Next time I'm in the city and need a craft beer, I can count on Carmine Street for some excellent beer.

Very cool spot. I was looking for a particular local brew before catching a flight home, and they happily had what I was looking for. It's a not a giant place, but their selection is well-curated. They had some nice taps that I wish I could have taken advantage of were I not headed to the airport. It's a cozy and welcoming place with a friendly and helpful proprietor.

Small beer bar. Seats inside and out. Excellent draft list. 14 taps. All were craft and a focus on local and regional beers. Options from Grimm, Barrier, Sloop, Monkish, and other great breweries at the time of my visit. Pricey at $10 for a pint of a Pilsner. Bar was quiet at the time, so service was super quick.

We stumbled upon this bar. We were looking for a bar that was like a brewery. I had a wheat beer from Colorado. The beer was great. The ambience was great and so was the service.

Here you'll find a place that has many selections of beer for sale and a tap in the front for people to order from. It's a nice little bar that's always changing their beer in rotation. They have a little bar top in the front and maybe another 20 seats throughout the store. It's not a bad place to grab a quick beer with a few friends but this is not fit for those bigger happy hours and that's ok.

Look, as craft beer stores go in the city, there are only 2-3 i'll frequent to pick stuff up, and this is one of them. Difficult to get your hands on, they'll have it (if it wasnt scooped up by someone else), large selection yup, prices are good, and the family that owns and runs the place is great. The draft list is always pretty darn good too.

We discovered this place when visited two weeks ago and it is fantastic. In the heart of the West Village on Carmine. Amazing selection of beers and the proprietor was so knowledgeable and made some excellent suggestions. My wife loves IPA beers and the Acute Angle from Beer Tree Brew and Phase Three F Stop were perfect we are going to see if we can find them up in Western Mass. I am a fan of darker beers and ales and the Zero Gravity Stout and Bierstadt Oktoberfest were perfect. The bar area is in the front when you enter. It is small and was packed that night with a youthful crowd. They have a small table area in the rear as well. If you are looking for a friendly place to share some tasty brews this is a must.

The guy on a Sat afternoon was such a jerk to us for no reason. My boyfriend tipped well, was super polite and friendly but this guy looked and acted like he was miserable. And was super nasty when we asked a few basic questions. Maybe he was having a bad day but it was so over the top we will Spend our money elsewhere

Good beer but I can only give 3 stars as they don't let you taste the draft beers to see which one you want to order. Most craft beer places do.

MMMMMMM. Beer. Homer would love this place. Anyone who likes beer would love this place. Untapped fans.... get your self here. Many, highly rated options. What appears to be a father and son establishment has an incredible tap list and a decent amount of space to enjoy your pint. They also have cans galore to take with you. These cool little beer bars are popping up everywhere. This one was definitely a favorite!

Great selection. Friendly service. A bit small but they make it work. Extremely knowledgeable staff that is an absolute pleasure to talk to over some craft beers.

Came here mid afternoon to try out a couple of beers and to see what this spot has to offer. Small bar/stools up front and then a long narrow walkway of bottled beer which leads you to a seating area at the end. Draft list is a variety of fourteen beers with single and growler prices listed. Prices are definitely high, especially considering a bunch come in 10oz or 8oz glasses. Settled on a couple of 16oz options ($18 total) as I wanted to get my money's worth. Also, while looking at the bottle selection there weren't prices listed on many of them - not a fan of that. Yelp checkin offers a 10% discount on a 6-pack, so they have that going for them. It's an option to try something new if you're around.

The Quick: Great selection of foreign beers and spirits. Plenty of seasonal options that are very pricey. We enjoyed that you can make your own mixed cases, or decide to buy just one large bottle. The Details: I'm not a beer drinker, however my boyfriend and friends love this spot. They carry beverages from all over the world and display them in a way that is easy to navigate. IPAs, small batches, seasonal flavors... You name it they likely have it. The Damage: The beverages are much pricier than your average Budweiser, but you get what you pay for I suppose.

An excellent example of the price-gouging shitshow that plagues craft beer in NYC. This is a small hole in the wall beer distributor in a really good location. Walked here the other day for a basic DFH 6pack. Rang up for $20 where other stores tops out at $16 max.Another I went in for a single bottle of a special release that sells for around $4. Here it's $6. Years ago Carmine Street was still overpriced, but never to this degree. Apparently they think their recent minor renovation entitles them to something. Other than that, the sheer smugness of the attendants working here is maddening. Everyone has an attitude (God forbid you ask a question), and they seem obsessed with watching customers as they browse. You own a beer store, not a bank. Hit Good Beer, Top Hops, New Beer Distributors or any of the many places in Manhattan and Brooklyn that actually care about the breweries and beer drinkers. These guys are just trying to make a cheap buck. It really sucks, as I work around the corner from here.

Solid beer bar with wide variance of all beers from around the world. When I went there the indoor seating was a bit dicey but that was before Covid. Looks like they are killing the outdoor situation though so get around them.

This place is legit! Such a great little spot in the west village. It caught my attention from the street because I was looking for a bottle shop with great local brews and I was not disappointed! I enjoyed a small sour beer while I browsed the selection. Everything I needed, I got. The guys behind the bar took the time to help me find my selections and offered their advice. I appreciated that effort, I'm sure they had more important things to do but they took care of me. Tap selection was diverse. I'm pretty loyal to sour beers and they had a couple. I wish i would've had the time to sit and chill for a while. Maybe next time in the city! Thanks guys!

I wandered in here one day with my sister after enjoying a delicious dinner next door at Fatty Cues'. Upon leaving and simply deciding to walk around the neighborhood to burn off the calories we inhaled with their brisket, pork buns and tater tot poutine (yes, that's correct - MOTHERCLUCKIN' TATER TOT POUTINE!!) I literally stumbled on to Carmine Street Beers and my eyes filled up with happy tears. I found a beer mecca that wasn't in carajo land alphabet city and closer to my Queens trains. EUREEKA and HUZZAHHHHH!!! SO, SO, SO many beers here. From all over! Local, upstate, other states, other countries, other continents - all under one roof. THEY EVEN SELL GOYA PRODUCTS UP FRONT. BEER AND GOYA PRODUCTS ARE TWO OF MY FAVORITE FOOD GROUPS!!! I found mermaid beers (Colorado Mermaid Brewing Co.?! WHAT?!??), Smuttynose Mermaid Ale, Coney Island Mermaid (I've had both, but still - nice to see em!) and some Albitas I had never seen before - MY GOODNESS!! IF I COULD MOVE IN HERE I WOULD. The second time I came here I brought Ingrid S., my only other friend who enjoys craft beers as much as I do. Seems like everyone else is wine/liquor or bust or has grown out of beers. Whatevs. I enjoy a well-crafted cocktail or a nice glass of vino just like anyone, but there's a soft spot in my liver - I mean heart - for interestingly brewed beers. Plus Carmine's let's you create your own 6 packs (with 10% off!) and they also have plenty of cans, tall boys, 40s and growlers. Beer has so much history, is delicious, refreshing, warm, comforting and rich in nutritional value...me thinks, lol. Beer doesn't get me too hungover, drunk or feeling as if I got run over multiple times by a monster truck. Plus beer gets you full so it can also be used as a meal replacement...don't quote me there, lol. This is on the same epic level as Good Beer amazingness. The selection here is BREATH-TAKING. I may love beer . . . . a little too much. But I swam in the selection on the shelves for about ten minutes while one of my friends looked on in annoyance (hee) and my other (Steph P. that insisted she show me one of her favorite beer stores in the city) pulled an Abita christmas seasonal ale off the shelf. It was going to happen. I feel everything is reasonably priced as well. They even had a sign offering 10% off a mix & match your own six-pack! Hot dog!

It's nice that this exists but I assume if you're here you're either a) A Tourist, b) Rich or c) Both. Prices are crazy even for craft draughts in the city and if you try to get around it by buying a can there's like a 5 dollar "corkage" fee (lol), although the server will insist you're getting a fair price for what you're buying, you nube-y dumdum. Do your research, you can get just as good a buzz off just as good beers in the area for almost half the price and a quarter of the attitude.

I came in the middle of the day because a date I had didn't work out. The owner was working the bar (I found out later) and recommended to me two really great beers. I talked to him to some degree and he told me they only started serving tap on 1 Feb and didn't have flights of beer yet but really wanted to but didn't have the room. I talked to him about how I order my flights one at a time and he actually recommended another craft beer bar to me! That was pretty awesome. I have to say I really liked him and he's a really good guy. Told him I'd write him up a great review as I was leaving the place.

Was searching for a specific beer that is hard to find in stores and I found it here!! The selection looks pretty good and I'm just happy that I found what I needed here. Everyone was super nice. They were able to let me purchase it through the phone and pick it up later. The price was pretty high for it, but it was pretty hard to even find it, so gotta pay up?

Carmine Street is a homely little beer bar and bottle shop with an amazing selection and discounts on mixed packs. I already know they're gonna get a steady chunk of my paycheck from here on out. Cheers!

People behind the bar know their beers. Offer 5 oz pours and got some more rare kegs on tap. But right walk-in area, loud, no samples, and no corkage available so what you buy is togo only. With that being said, not a horrible option to get a craft beer while waiting for a reservation elsewhere but not the best beer store in town for drinking. Selection of cans to buy is quite good as is 4 packs. Prices fine for bulk, but no prices marked on individual so the process to scan the barcode to give you a price on each beer is juts miserable. Need to start adding prices to individual bottles and commit to their bottle shop mentality. Then and only then can this spot be a 5 star destination.

14 curated taps including a fair amount of NY beers + growler fills. Large selection of cans and bottles to go. Knowledgeable, friendly staff. Not too busy but it really should be. A great destination for a few beers before a night out.

Amazing place for beer to take away and to stay! The variety they have is without a doubt one of the best in NYC. I could live in that place. The owners are incredibly friendly and really care about what they are doing. I go as often as possible. If you happen to walk by step in for a quick drink you will not regret it.

For a small place, they a really nice selection. I was able to find the Ommegang I was searching for and found they carried Kona as well. It may be my new spot for craft brews.

Stopped here on our way to the hotel. Found this on UNTAPPD through Shane. They have a great selection of local, national, and international beers. They had some of what I was looking for. Really great place.

These guys have an amazing selection of craft beers. Best in the village in my opinion!! They also have a great selection of craft beers on tap and some seating out the back if you want to sit and enjoy a few on site.

I've come to Carmine Street Beers quite a few times at this point, mostly because it's one of the few beer shops I have felt pretty confident would source the latest Game of Thrones beer releases by Ommegang in a timely fashion. The shop itself also carries a solid selection of other beers, and I feel like it tends to have a little bit of a broader selection than some of the other craft beer shops that I have encountered in Manhattan. While it's not huge - the store is on the narrow side and doesn't have a ton of space - there is still ample variety stocked on the shelves on each side. There's also a small-ish bar at the front, where there are a little more than a dozen beers on tap, where you can have a pint (or smaller, for the stronger ales) or have a growler get filled. I usually don't stop in for a beer there, but I did try a beer on tap and enjoyed hopping on a stool and hanging out for a little bit before heading out. I'm not entirely sure how knowledgeable the staff is, as I usually haven't spoken to them beyond paying for whatever I have picked up, but the folks seem friendly enough. It's a little bit of a hidden spot, being off the hustle and bustle of Bleecker Street between 6th and 7th Avenue, but its convenience to the subway (it's less than 5 minutes from the West 4th stop) and having the beers that I am usually looking for means that it'll continue to be a spot that I will go to when I'm looking for something a little off the beaten path.

They present Brewers you rarely see in Manhattan and those brewers produce extremely small quantities. They have racks and racks of beer displayed which is warm, effectively killing a beautiful craft product and a labor of love for these brewers. Brewers, pay attention to where distributors are placing you!

Stopped by this charming shop today. Selection is vast (better than Top Hops and Good Beer imo) and merchandise was displayed in an organized and attractive fashion. It felt more like a beer library than anything else. Wish I lived closer.

Awesome beer selection. Growlers are a good price. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Wish they had the prices on the beers listed though for the make your own six-packs. They even stock a few snacks and much needed essentials. Great one stop shop on the way to a party, etc. so glad it's in the neighborhood!

Carmine Street Beers is a cool little bottle shop that we stumbled upon near a friends apartment. They had a great selection of craft beer in bottles that you can buy individually or build your own six pack. Most of the bottles are unchilled, but they do have two small refrigerators towards the back with some local and regional favorites if you want to enjoy your beer right away. In addition to the bottles, it looks like they have some taps up front if you want to pick up a growler. Everyone inside was friendly, although I felt like the one guy was hovering around a bit much as a tried to shop. Cool shop.

Great new beer store, and an alternative to Whole Foods for growler runs now that Growler Station has been shuttered (RIP). These guys have very good taste and impressive geographic reach on distribution deals (I got a 6-pack of Uinta from Utah!). Hopefully they will stick around.

Great new spot! Excellent selection, especially for craft and international beers. If you want to avoid the frat house bars and enjoy good beer in a sleek, pleasant environment like an adult, this is the place. My pick for beer week this year.

Top notch list of unique and hard to find drafts along with a killer bottle/can selection. Friendly and knowledgeable service. Highly recommended.

This place is WONDERFUL! And I love the parents - the mom and dad who are often there. It's probable that these folks have to pay a ridiculous rent, but they still carry the groovy Village old school vibe. And it leads me and my friends to go out of our neighborhoods to patronize them. Fresh beer in growler bottles! What could be better, I wanna ask?

This is an excellent store. The staff is friendly and are huge beer fans, and they can always point you to something you'll like amongst the vast selection. There are also tables in the window so you can sip prime suds and people-watch the passing parade on Carmine Street. Bonus points for always playing cool music in the store. I live in the neighborhood and go out of my way to buy my beer at this place rather than at the local supermarket. It's a great local business and deserves a lot of support.

I've never seen a selection of beers like they have. A really awesome vibe in there, all beer people who know their shit as far as customers and the workers. Fair prices for what they have on tap and a great spot to stop and get a beer or the occasional glass of wine after work.
