Share disappointment. Went for dinner yesterday. Must mention 18:15 arrival and a Monday. So was near empty. The dismissive behaviour of staff was extreme. So no lack of staff. Just ignored. Besides taken to a table and then offered some cocktail upsale . I said no thanks I would prefer some wine . Waited for someone to take my drink order . 10 minutes later someone decided to actually deal with. That was to be my experience throughout the night . Ignored, dismissed and completely a lack of any service and even the so called rotation of meats, seemed to ignored me. After 20 min finally got my drink a bottle of wine . I had asked for some ice / ice bucket with . Ignored, had to ask 2 x and on last time had to find a staff member. The starter ( soup)while nice ( only 1 of 2 ) was near cold .
The following after ... ribs , chicken skewers and pork sausages. Were so over cooked they were practically inedible. The chicken skewer and no lie was like rubber and one could of used as a squash ball or bouncy ball. The meatballs were somewhat ok but undercooked. ( i cant comment on pap and sauce as I did not want ) The eland and rice curry was inedible, rice had been left out so was hard . ( dry ) . The ribs , sausage were cold and well over cooked . The samoosa the 1st one was OK but on next serving clearly had been left under a heat lamp or warming draw . Soggy luke warm and chewy.
The lazy Suzanne was somewhat impressed, but on closer inspection was not. Very little sauce. The salads bland and besides the sweetcorn and pineapple salad, were a disappointment . What made it worse was that I spent most of my meal chasing flys off.. Seriously you have a major fly issue . I will and agree and as per news there is a issue. BUT. There were no visible controls for . A electric uv light box or citronella candles. I repeatedly asked for a candle and told you have . Took 30 min for.
The main course ( the highlight? ) Besides repeatedly being ignored and at times 15 minutes between and having to ask for . Was utterly unacceptable. Well overcooked, to the point of leather. Besides the 1st offer of impala, which was quite nice. The rest was inedible..yes I could not eat . My plate became and had no space on ( full ), due to the meat being inedible. I had to ask for a new plate. Not once throughout the night was my wine topped up or asked . Only once did my waiter come pass and asked if was OK.
Pudding..mmm had to wait 20 min after Finnished main for service to even ask for . Was edable. ( cheese cake ) Not fresh or not stored correctly... base was sopping wet. Too thin. Served in a square, so stand to be corrected...made in a bamarie , cut into squares and stored in a fridge for days.
Very very disappointing. I would have given a 1 star as belive that was it. But as I was eating alone , maybe the experience might have been tolerable if had company.. so given a 2 star.
I would like to mention, I live in the estate behind/ next to (avianto) . Have been and enjoyed your gin bar , a number of times . This carnivore restaurant was , a huge disappointment and sorry to say would never go / recommend . I actually would would tell people not to .
