Caro Hotel, a Design Boutique Hotel Valencia, Spain

"The unique Caro Hotel is housed in a 19th-century palace in central Valencia, just 200 metres from Valencia Cathedral. Combining historical features with modern design, it has an outdoor pool open all year round. Designed by Francesc Rifé, each of the elegant rooms in the Caro is totally individual, with exquisite touches of minimalist design. All have a flat-screen satellite TV, air-conditioning and a free minibar. The bathrooms include Bvlgari toiletries, a bathrobe and slippers. The hotel’s Alma del Temple restaurant serves traditional Mediterranean food with a modern twist. There is also a bar with a quiet terrace, where you can enjoy a drink in the sun. Gluten-free menus are also available on prior request. Architecturally unique, parts of Caro Hotel date from up to 2000 years ago. Original features include a 2nd-century Roman mosaic, part of the 13th-century Arabic city walls and Gothic arches. The façade dates from the 19th century. Plaza de la Virgen and Valencia's basilica are within 5 minutes’ walk of the hotel. La Lonja de la Seda, the medieval market and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a 10-minute walk away." - My Boutique Hotel (en)

Caro Hotel (Valencia, Spain) 3 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Valencia’s Old Town has some fine historic hotels, but perhaps none as notable as this one, set in a 14th-century Gothic palace that served as the private mansion of the Marquis de Caro. It’s the city’s only historical monument hotel, and Caro Hotel leans into the official designation, proudly showcasing a 12-century Arabic wall in its restaurant and medieval coffered ceilings and Moorish archways in the guest rooms. The otherwise modern and minimalist design, with monochromatic decor and sophisticated lighting, evokes the stage-like atmosphere of a contemporary art gallery — all the better to let the building’s historical elements shine. The chic library and multiple outdoor terraces, one with a plunge pool, add to the appeal, as does Alma del Temple, a striking restaurant where both the design and the cuisine take inspiration from the city’s Roman, Arabic, and Christian roots." - Tablet Hotels

This hotel was recommended to us by friends and it certainly did not disappoint. We had a 3 night stay for a citybreak holiday in Valencia and this hotel was absolutely perfect. The location is excellent - quiet but right in the old town and close to all main attractions. Our room (22) was quiet spacious modern and spotlessly clean with all amenities and good quality toiletries. Breakfast was very good with hot dishes served individually and there is a small outside area next to the bar for evening drinks. The staff were without exception absolutely excellent - friendly professional and helpful and made us feel so welcome. We will definitely return here when staying in Valencia again.

A beautiful building in an ideal location. You are a few steps away from the old town of Valencia but it is so quiet you cold be in the countryside.||All the big pluses:|Friendly, helpful and attentive staff.|Chic, trendy reception/ bar area, with touches of antiquity!|Spacious, elegant rooms and a very comfortable bed. Room was a bit dark.|An actual top sheet!! Most hotels have forgotten they exist. And a lighter doona (duvet) that doesn’t necessitate you turn the aircon to arctic temperatures. ✔️|A bottle of fizz and some delicious morsels on arrival.|A mini bar (sans alcohol) that is refreshed daily.|Showers that are straightforward to operate, yes! Lights too.✔️|Lovely large fluffy towels and bathrobes. And a real bath, which I know some people love.||Some small negatives |Could we have some conditioner in the shower?|A waste paper basket in the room would be very helpful.|Good quality toilet paper please, not the same as you’d find in public conveniences. You’d soon recover the cost in the amount being used!|I know all the kind staff will bring to your room any beverage you desire , at the press of a telephone button, but actually first thing of a morning, I want to make my own. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room, please.||Overall, a great place to stay. Highly recommended.||However, DO NOT use the transfer services which the hotel will recommend to you via an email before you arrive, particularly if you are arriving by train. I was left stranded at the station because my train was late. And, even worse, I was not given a refund.. The taxi I got instead was less than half the price. You live and learn!

Stayed here for 3 nights. Fab hotel in a great location. So central to old town but so quiet too! Best of both worlds. Clean and very modern hotel. Alejandro was super attentive. He provided a warm welcome and provided an overview of the city on arrival, with a complimentary drink. He also helped us with booking reservations at restaurants. We got upgraded on arrival to the attic room. Lovely room, however the lighting wasn’t that effective, so doing hair/make up and generally trying to get ready was a challenge with not much light. We did mention at reception and they said they’d provide an extra lamp, but it didn’t arrive. I would definitely stay here again though, overall a brilliant stay.

We stayed here as part of our honeymoon trip. The hotel is absolutely perfect. It’s impeccably clean. The staff are wonderful! They cannot do enough for you. They are all so kind, helpful and welcoming. It’s clear to see they value their work and enjoy what they do. From welcome drinks, showing us the best spots on the map to restaurant recommendations - they really went over and above. The hotel itself is beautiful. The library is a lovely place to relax and have some quiet, the bar is lovely and the area by the pool is relaxing. The rooms are stunning and so unique. We absolutely loved our stay and will definitely be back. Thank you to everyone at hotel Caro for the extra honeymoon treats and our whole stay. |Emma + Richard xXx

Beautiful hotel with fantastic staff who were very professional. The little touches like a card on your bed each night telling you the weather for the next few days with a treat, the coffee brought to your room, lovely comfortable beds and pillows set the hotel apart. It’s clean and has a beautiful fresh fragrance throughout the hotel. It’s air conditioned during the hot days so you walk into a nice cool room. Valet parking is so helpful in the Old Town you just arrive and they park your car. The Roman ruins throughout the building are incredible. Would highly recommend the hotel.

From our first introduction we felt the staff was above and beyond any other hotel we have visited recently. They immediately asked us if they could assist us in any way to make our stay wonderful. They acted right away with suggestions based on our wants for the visit to Valencia. There were two employees on the staff that were just exceptional, Alejandro and Ine's.

Beautiful hotel in the old city with tons of character and charm. The staff is UNBELIEVABLY friendly and helpful. Alejandro stood out at providing us with such a warm greeting and orientation of the city and restaurants. We loved our stay here and highly recommend it.

This is a great hotel. The service was impeccable. Alejandro was amazing and greeted us by mapping out things to do and see in the city. The front desk ladies and the ladies serving breakfast were helpful and courteous. The location is central and we walked everywhere. The only meals we had there were breakfast and it was delicious. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Valencia.

Yelp
Really nice, like living in a castle, which this actually is. Phenomenal decor, like a museum -- they have a piece of the Roman Circus in the lobby, for example. Rooms are spacious, modern, luxurious. Worst thing I can say is that the mini-bar contained no alcohol, that the tub had the faucet in the middle, and that the attached restaurant had no written menus listing the things they were going to serve you prix fixe. Otherwise, just amazing. Would stay there again happily.
