We had a room on the first floor which was perfect. The access to the lake is great, they have everything you need (kayaks, vests, etc) provided for the guests for free. Rooms are well-maintained, clean, and the bed is so comfy. The restaurant has decent food, reasonably priced, but service is a bit hit and miss sometimes. We also preordered breakfast for 7:30 and the manager assured us it will be ready by then. Sadly it wasn’t, we had to wait for the food to be cooked and ended up asking for it to be packed to go. We were late for our boat tour and had to eat our eggs etc with hand as no cutlery was included. Overall this was good value for money. The lakefront area of the restaurant needs a net or some sort of tarp for rain and cover - rain, leaves, insects and bird poop will eventually season your food unexpectedly.

Absolutely a gem of a place. The staff is super sweet and attentive. I felt taken care of which was important since I was traveling alone as a woman. Edgar was the best host. The room was very nice. I thought the design of the shower was amazing. The bed was comfy and it was a great stay.

Hotel Carolina ….. Wish we didn’t have to leave. If you’re looking for accommodations close central and on the water this is your place ! A boutique style resort with amazing staff! From the moment we stepped onto the grounds you could tell the staff enjoyed their jobs and took great pride in what the hotel has to offer their guests. The staffs attention to detail ensuring customers needs were met was truly appreciated! Shout out to Juan !! There is an onsite bar and restaurant with very reasonable prices! Don’t forget to make use of the complimentary kayaks and paddle boards that are available for their guests. When we return to Bacalar, Carolina will be at the top of our list to say at.

This is a place you should avoid, we checked in and realized we made a mistake as soon as we see the property. We went back to the front desk and asked if we could get a refund for 2 out of the 3 nights and it was rudy declined, which we left without any money returned. Property details, -the waiter at the bar is helpful -admin/front desk very rude -cleaning products are unbearable -the pool is the smallest I have ever seen -the shoreline has weeds/lily pads, can't see anyone swimming there -the pictures on the web are not current -smell of sewer

Amazing place to stay. All the staff members helpful and with good mood. Restaurant was delicious and food, fresh. Perhaps too big rations, but our neighbors of the north love massive rations and burgers; We don’t. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED PLACE TO STAY!

The rooms were nice but a bit on the small side. We recommend avoiding rooms too close to the shore, as they can be noisier. We selected a Lagoon View room, which was the first one available. Unfortunately, it was very close to the bar, making it quite noisy, especially at night. Additionally, the old refrigerators in the bar area outside of the room made an intolerable amount of noise, and there was no mini fridge to keep water cold.||After complaining, the hotel offered to move us to a different room. While this was a good solution, it was inconvenient since we had already unpacked. We decided to endure the overnight noise rather than repack and move.||We also experienced difficulty obtaining coffee pods for the coffee machine, as the hotel only provided one pod per person per day. |Despite these issues, the staff was super friendly and eager to help.||Overall, the room was adequate, but the noise issues and lack of amenities detracted from our stay. We suggest the hotel upgrade the refrigerators, ensure rooms near the bar are better soundproofed, and provide more coffee pods. Overall value for the money is five out of ten.

The facilities are nice and comfortable environment. Staff very helpful. The room is nice and spacious It was great to have access to SUP boards and kayaks right are the hotel. I would highly recommend the organic repellent sold there. |The complementary breakfast is a joke though. We asked for another tablespoon of yogurt (given they brought a small portion for 3 persons) and were told it would be extra charge. Finally spoke to another waiter and no issue. The dishes offered at the breakfast menu (additional price) where very good.

Really nice hotel. Great staff, nice rooms, tasty food and delicious drinks. View of the lagoon is beautiful. Kayaks and paddle boards available. Life jackets provided. Reasonably priced. Parking on site. Easy walk to centre of town. Highly recommend.
