Food was delicious. Very flavorful BBQ which we loved. I ordered via DoorDash didn’t receive my corn bread since they were out but they sent a note along with a complimentary pecan pie slice which is such a nice gesture. Definitely would order again, or even dine-in next time.

I have passed by this many times while biking on the W&OD trail and it always smells delicious. So I stopped today and tried it. The brisket meat was tender and the portions with my two sides (potato salad and baked beans - I wanted more options like collards but no luck) were generous (more so with the sides than the meat, but I had plenty). I was disappointed that the meat wasn't more flavorful and the restaurant's own brand of sauces on the table were also bland to me. I do like spicy foods, and the "hot" sauce was way too mild for me. The other option was ok, but not great. Having been to Monks BBQ in Purceville, I had hoped for more. I might go back to try the pork and see if it's better. The service was friendly and I enjoyed the decor (the country music videos not so much, but maybe you will 🙂). Non- IPA beer choices were also limited.

I ordered ribs with 2 sides ( Mac cheese and green beans). Taste good and cp value not bad. Staff are nice and friendly I love to try brisket next time Environment is very country style setting and relax. Something new to try out.

Thankful for Carolina Brothers Pit Barbeque for existing here! After a long day of cycling on the W&OD and passing by Ashburn, this is a perfect stop. Around Mile marker 26 on the trail. They have affordable options for BBQ, the food is always good and they also have a bathroom. There are plenty of tables located outside and they also have bike racks. It is a local landmark. It is definitely a lifesaver when you are running low on energy and need a long break. I have tried the pork BBQ sandwich, mac and cheese here and they tasted delicious. They accept apple pay and other electronic payments.

Google
The restaurant is nice, and the staff were nice, but the menu is really quite boring (Choose a different kind of meat, and throw it on a sandwich, that's about it). My pork was rather dry, and my wife's beef bbq sandwich was also kinda flavorless. It's a shame since there aren't many American BBQ joints in the area, but this is definitely not on my list of places I'll go back to. I really miss good FL BBQ :(

Google
It's solid if not outstanding barbecue, of the pulled pork etc. variety. I love its location, just off the w&od trail. The food is better than average, and that means most local competition.

Hmmm… I’m sad because I had extremely high hopes given the reviews. It was not phenomenal but was at least priced accordingly. Although edible, the signature pulled pork sandwich with Mac and cheese as well as baked beans left a bit to be desired but satisfied my hunger. I couldn’t quite put my finger on it but every dish felt like it was missing something. The sauce on the side was not a savior. I can’t speak awfully of this experience because the gentleman that took my order was very kind and the lady that plated my food was courteous. Now those oatmeal butterscotch cookies were wonderfully nostalgic and were indeed the best part of the items I ate, which added a star. I’m sorry to disagree with the other reviews but if hit with a bbq craving this wouldn’t be my first choice.

Google
A hidden griller! Friendly staff, the Mac n cheese, baked beans (perfect kick of heat) were very good! The ribs were excellent quality and adequate flavoring (I prefer dry rub) So if I had the option I would give 5*s I highly recommend them and will be returning for sure! Thank you!

Yelp
This is definitely my favorite place to treat myself to an awesome lunch after a on hour bike ride on the W&OD trail from the Google building in Reston. The food is delicious. My choice is the 1/4 rack of BBQ ribs, macaroni and cheese, baked beans and a slice of corn bread. Plenty of fuel for the ride back home.

Tony C.

Yelp
The food isn't bad but the two times I've gotten it, both times it taste as if it was oven or crockpot ribs. First time I gave it the benefit of doubt because it was pouring rain. The next time I ordered on Uber Eats and it literally had 0 smoke flavor.

Yelp
We've had all of the BBQ sandwiches which are good. Not the best ever, but definitely solid. The pulled chicken is the most flavorful in my opinion, then the pulled pork. The pulled beef was ok, but a little dry. Drowned it in their signature sauce which is super tangy, sweet, and smokey and it got the job done! I prefer my bbq baked beans a little in the sweeter side, but still enjoyed theirs. Green beans and Mac are solid options also.

Yelp
Recent carry out order was excellent. Ribs were extremely meaty and cooked well. Portion sizes were generous. Sides and sauce were delicious.

Yelp
My bbq go-to place, just awesome! I definitely recommend this place, their crew is always friendly and the food is grea, what's not to love.

Bonnie H.

Yelp
I'm from NC and when I miss our BBQ I always come here. It's always good and fresh! Even when my parents visit they ask to visit here

Yelp
Decided to stop here for lunch after the lunch time rush. The staff was not extremely helpful in sharing what the options where or what they suggested. We had a basic platter and the pork was dry. The sides were excellent and would go there just for the Mac and cheese. We ate indoors and it had cute tables and a homey feel. Overall I would not go back unless I am craving the Mac and Cheese.

Yelp
I should have known when we pulled up and it did not smell like outdoor smoker or BBQ that we were in trouble. I have to believe that it is the trail walkers near by that keep this place open. Hubs ordered pulled pork sandwich. I will bet my entire paycheck that it was made in a crock pot. Not a bbq smoke flavor at all, Just sauce. I guess I'm confused as the sign said PIT BBQ. This was absolutely NOT PIT NOR BBQ. I ordered the ribs. These were definitely baked and finished on a griddle. The server even asked his coworker if he had grilled ribs. Ribs need to be slow cooked , smoked if it is BBQ. These were just a big NO. Zero smoke flavor not even charcoal flavor. Service was fine, but this is a one and done. We will go to black hog for delicious BBQ.

Yelp
Carolina Brothers provided catering (drop-off) for a birthday party I planned for my father with ~60 guests. Both the quality of the food and the quality of the service were superb. Frank reached out to me within a day of submitting an inquiry on their website, got everything together despite relatively short notice (less than two weeks before the party), was very flexible with our requests, proactively came up with helpful solutions to make sure the food would be served at the ideal temperature, and was very responsive to my communications in the lead-up to the event. The drop-off went perfectly; he showed up exactly on time. And most importantly, everyone loved the food, especially my dad (who was born and raised in North Carolina). I heard nothing but rave reviews. If I ever plan another big event with BBQ, I would hire Carolina Brothers again in a heartbeat. Highly recommended. Big thank you to Frank and to everyone at Carolina Brothers!

Yelp
Great service by Brook. Loved the sides - potato salad, coleslaw, macaroni. Pulled pork sandwich looked great. Tasty bbq sauce. Could use a vegetarian sandwich or offering (impossible burger? Impossible burger chili ?). Great location right on the bike path. Tasty root beer. Friendly owner / manager.

Yelp
Have been coming here for over 20 years. Lately the portions got so small it's ridiculous. The platter with two sides used to be a nice meal, now it's more like a few bites, and I don't like huge portions. They did this to me a few times now, not coming back. I understand food prices went up, but for $14 this is not worth it.
google avatar

Elizabeth M.

Yelp
Amazing food and my bbq beef sandwich + 2 sides was $12! Can't beat the price and the portion. We came as a party of 4 and we all enjoyed the ambiance of a local restaurant with rustic wooden chairs/tables. I think everything is made in-house and we really appreciate the guy at the counter coming to check-in on us during our meal.

Yelp
Best Barbecue in Ashburn and the service is always on point! Wish I still lived right down the street!

Yelp
I own an entertainment company and planned a surprise retirement party for my wife, who was retiring as an educator from Fairfax County Public Schools and needed a caterer to supply food for my 80 guests. The venue was in Ashburn and when visiting it for a meeting I passed by Carolina Brothers BBQ. They are right off the WO & D trail and we used to ride bikes on the trail and stop there for a bite to eat. So after my venue meeting I stopped by Carolina Bros and actually met the owner, Frank, who I shared my party plans with and I quickly realized that I hit the jackpot. BBQ was a perfect match for my "Picnic Chic" themed event, and Frank put together a menu (chicken, beef, pork and sides galore), which I absolutely loved, so I immediately secured his services. Leading up to the event I had several changes and Frank made adjustments accordingly with no problem. Fast forward to the event and his two staff members (Eddie and Connor) were on time, were professional, courteous, knowledgeable about the product and flexible in meeting all requests. They represented Carolina Brothers in an outstanding manner in my eyes and also in the eyes of my guests. The food was absolutely delicious ! I touched every table at the event and asked how the food was and everyone enjoyed it very much. I was so pleased with what Carolina Brothers contributed to my event that I tipped the staff and wrote a letter to Frank thanking him for the outstanding food and outstanding service that he provided. Carolina Brothers is now my Go To Caterer for my events ! I highly recommend that you consider them for your next event as well.

Yelp
Things are back to normal after COVID restrictions and the barbecue is as good as ever. This is a must-do stop when riding on the Washington & Old Dominion Rail Trail. There are ample bike racks next to the outdoor eating area and a for-pay tire inflator. The pulled pork is excellent. It is tender, moist, flavorful and served on a Martin's Potato roll. The potato salad is outstanding.

Yelp
I really like this place! They have great meats, they just don't have the best BBQ sauce in my opinion but that's because I'm not a fan of vinegar based sauces. I've gotten the brisket, the pork, and the shredded beef. My favorite is the brisket, then pork, then beef. If you like sweeter meats you'll love the shredded beef. I prefer more savory. You can only get brisket Sund & Weds and ribs finish fast! The cornbread is good my bf loves it! I personally have had better. The baked beans are bomb!!! And the Mac and cheese is creamy and delicious!! It doesn't taste oily Writing this review is making me want the food now lol Plenty of seating

Elaine B.

Yelp
I ordered the brisket available on Wed and Sat. It's great! Banana pudding is available on Sat., and it's enough to share with a friend. Service is prompt. Atmosphere is friendly and comfortable.

Lou M.

Yelp
Best bbq around best place to stop when biking and you need a quick bite. They've got all the sports drinks. You need. The pulled pork with their homemade sauce. Sauces are the best.
google avatar

Terri D.

Yelp
before it got too cold out, pit stop for bbq after a bike ride - a needed incentive :) easy, casual vibe - as most bbq places are, with friendly service. food was delish, lots of options for sides and dessert too. scarfed down, then it was back to the trail.

Joe A.

Yelp
Wasn't that great at all. Mission or Monk's is superior over this place. And they charged me twice on my credit card! Two different amounts! When I paid, the little credit card thing crapped out and I specifically said: "Make sure you get it right because if I get charged twice, I'll be irate." Well they screwed it up and now I have to call my credit card company and straighten it out. How do you "rerun the card" and add 5 more dollars to it? What's that racket all about? Never again.

Yelp
Kinda sad I have to leave this kinda review especially Beacuse I live for smaller establishments but was highly disappointed in this spot , their pricing is not bad however the food lacks flavor and quality, the Mac and cheese reminded me a boxed crafts max and cheese, the corn bread had absolutely no flavor if anything it tasted like the plastic it was wrapped in and the apple pie was cold and tasted just like the Walmart brand pies. The pulled pork wasent bad but I had a hard time enjoying it Beacuse the two sauces I was give I guess weren't closed pro and spilled all in the bag and all over my stuff. Def will not be back

Yelp
So we ended up heat after seeing there truck at the hooters in Chantilly. Thought okay let's give them a try. Very impressive BBQ. The food was awesome and the price point was pair for the area. They have one sauce which is very good but some may find that limited. This is a quick service style restaurant order at the bar get your food and sit down. Would love too see them add a bar with at least beer but liquor would be great. I really enjoyed my whole meal. And would recommend
google avatar

Skip W.

Yelp
outstanding pulled pork. . very moist and full of flavor. I had two sides. potato salad and baked beans. I would recommend both. My wife said the mac n cheese was the best she ever had. This is definitely going to be our #1 place for BBQ. I almost forgot, they have a great NC vinegar based sauce. As my grandmother used to say " ya done good "

Mary F.

Yelp
I had the chicken sandwich. It was a cafeteria quality hamburger bun with a pile of chicken on top. No seasoning, add your own sauce, nothing on the side for $12. Definitely not a good value and the food was average.
google avatar

Yelp
Just ordered one of their throw your own party packs for a birthday party at our house. Ordering via phone was quick and easy - we called afterward to add a few more items and it was no sweat! Ordered on Thursday for a Saturday morning pick up with absolutely zero issues. All of the food was perfectly prepared and our guests couldn't stop talking about how good it was! This was my second time ordering from them, and they are my definite go to for any other event I will plan moving forward. You can never go wrong with barbecue - especially when it's Carolina Brothers!

Bruce L.

Yelp
Ordered two sandwiches. One pulled beef one brisket with string beans as a side. Got home to find I got two brisket sandwiches with no side

Yelp
Roadside BBQ place right along the W&OD trail. Excellent stop for a lunch break if you are riding your bike/walking/driving by. The nice thing about it is that they accept card and apple pay. I am a fan of BBQ so I decided to stop by here after a ride back from Purcellville during the COVID-19 lockdown. The store was still open and accepting customers to come inside for orders. I walked in and quickly decided on what to get. I got the pulled pork sandwich with 2 sides (Mac & cheese and Col slaw). My buddy got the half rack and same sides. The food was all really good. I gulped it down in no time. They were generous with the portion for the cost of the food. I wish they had some brisket though. Glad to be supporting local businesses during this time.
google avatar

John K.

Yelp
Perfect food, perfect location, great people. This is definitely going to become a regular spot for bbq. They do Carolina style bbq so the sauces are a little bit less viscus but if you like those styles of sauces or bbq in general then this is a great place to go. This place is right next to the biking/hiking trail so it's great for a post run meal and a nice drink to relax The food was delicious, I got the brisket platter along with a piece of corn bread and my friend got the pork platter. It totaled out all together to be 27.33 so not that bad in terms of price at all In conclusion, I'm adding this to my bbq collection and will be coming back soon.

Yelp
Stopped by when BF and I were riding along the trail. Great food, and a spot to enjoy it outdoors in the shade. You can get a sandwich with or without sides, and BF and I shared one order of sides. The portions are quite generous. The barbecue was excellent, and I always look forward to a stop here!

Yelp
This tucked away gem is absolutely delicious. Their food is authentic southern and they top off the taste with great customer service!! Their pulled pork sandwich was delightfully paired with these amazing sides! The restaurant is always clean and they have outdoor seating. Be prepared to be warmly greeted upon entry and to walk away stuffed with great food! I found a news gem and I'm telling everyone about it!

Karla V.

Yelp
Today was my first time trying this place. I had a carry out order and everyone was friendly. The pulled pork was great! Sauce was tangy and had a bit of a kick! I didn't think it was bland or dry as some others have said. It does come with two packets of bbq sauce which I thought was sufficient. Macaroni and cheese lacked flavor so I had to add salt and pepper to it. Still good though. The baked beans were as sweet as can be. Just the way I like them. Lastly, the corn bread was crumbly, moist and sweet. Overall, it was a perfectly filling meal considering the price.

Virginia S.

Yelp
Absolutely outstanding! Our office had them cater our Memorial Day Staff Luncheon, and everyone was amazed how delicious the barbeque tasted, right down to the cornbread. This was our first time tasting their grub and I must say we will have to invite them again. We had the pork, chicken and beef BBQ, with all the sides to connect so correctly. Case in point, if you want Great BBQ, hire these guys, because they will keep you coming back for more.

Rob C.

Yelp
Nothing fake about it, or me trust me. Rather than dismiss the genuine feedback, your establishment should accept it and ask what you can do to improve. That's what truly hungry to improve businesses do. I returned, because as I said, it once provided fair value and prices. So I gave it time. But sure enough, things remained disappointingly lacking with staff obviously worrying that ooops we might place 1/2 ounce more than 1/4 pound on a sandwich. Now compare that to Willard's in Chantilly. They arent cheap; they put a good amount of Q on your bun and STILL charge a fair price. And regardless of reviews, I can tell you that many Ashburnites have echoed my same experiences. Watch pride- its a deadly sin!

Yelp
Showing you now the food of the Carolinas, it'll just make your mouth water , and mind excited . Slow cooking has been one of my favorite categories of food to eat. And when you add pork and beef in that mix, everything will just taste heaven. They are using a vinegar based sauce , which are typically used in bbq's in the Carolinas . The sour notes of the vinegar and the spices , makes the meat so great. Not only their meats were great, but also their sides. The baked beans , and their coleslaw?, it had textures and more of that sour notes from the vinegar. Every bite of the meat and sides , just makes you crave for more . That flavor that just coats your throat, will not only make you feel content but make your dopamine go up! Speaking of dopamine , we also tried several desserts , that a local sells in their restaurant. *blueberry pie *apple pie *pecan pie *banana bread pudding *corn bread *lemon cake They were not sweet , and you can taste the fruits , and corn that was used in their pies and bread that they made. Whether it's bbq or desserts, this place is a for sure go to, here in VA . I would drive 2 hours, just to eat here again.

Yelp
Really cool place, and I had high hopes. I'll start with the good and that's that the place has tons of character and the staff was very friendly. Rare these days to find someone working and seemingly enjoying their job. Greeted me as I walked in, and just nice guys so that was great. Additionally, the portion size was good, and for 11 bucks I thought it was a good value. The food itself wasn't bad, but not great, sadly. I had the pulled pork sandwich, coleslaw, and baked beans. Couldn't taste any smoke in the pork, it tasted more like it was done in the oven as opposed to on a pit. It was tender and moist for sure, but lacked the smoke flavor I expect from pit bbq. The beans were fine but nothing to write home about, and the coleslaw was slightly below average. Was also disappointed that there were no pickles added to the plate, and the sauce selection was limited. In fact, I only saw one type of sauce on the tables which was a Western Carolina style sauce.
google avatar

Greg O.

Yelp
A lot of the popularity of this place comes from the location. After a ride on the W&OD, it's a great place to stop for a bite and a rest, with plenty of bike parking available. They have a good size dining room and lots of outside tables with umbrellas. Service was friendly and fast. Their menu is very limited- basically pulled pork or chicken, ribs, and a few sides. The pork itself was decent, but a little under seasoned. I'm not a fan of vinegar based sauces but it at least had a little kick to it. The sides were ok, but also under seasoned. It's decent BBQ overall but there are better ones in the area, just none quite as convenient to the trail.
google avatar

Mimi M.

Yelp
Biking through the W&OD path, at mile 26ish we came upon this awesome BBQ joint. Inside is exactly how you would picture a bbq place. Wooden floors, pigs in all shapes and forms everywhere, nice friendly staff and good bbq. Not the greatest though, I've had better but pretty good. They have table outside so you can bring your plate at the picnic table or hang inside. Beware, weekends are a zoo!!! Packed with tourists, bikers, runners, walkers, families, you name it there are there. Weekdays is heaven!
google avatar

Richard W.

Yelp
As a huge fan of North Carolina barbecue, I decided to take a trip out to Ashburn, Va and give Carolina Brothers a try, boy am I glad I made the drive. The setting perfect for barbecue, adjacent to the W&OD trail, you can almost picture their building being in the same location when trains used to run by. The setting is very picturesque and you really have a small town feel, both outside and inside. The pork barbecue sandwich was delicious with a nice vinegery flavor, additional sauce and hot sauce was available. The coleslaw was fresh, just needed a little salt to bring out the flavor, green beans were good, as with the coleslaw they were under seasoned and required salt, pepper and dash of hot sauce. Portion size was good, especially for the very reasonable prices. Look forward to visiting again, just wish they were closer to home, but then again you cannot recreate the setting they have in Ashburn closer to DC.

Yelp
Good food, ambience, the sides and desserts are tops, pulled pork good, not the best burger ve had, but good

Joanna K.

Yelp
My husband and I moved to Ashburn about 2 months ago - and have been here twice. We are so glad we found this gem so close to our home. Great portion, price, and most importantly - the food tastes amazing. All the sides we've tried have been amazing as well. We definitely plan on getting food from here on the regular! I highly recommend this place!

Andrews E.

Yelp
The staff was friendly. The food was not very good at all in my opinion. We had the pulled chicken and pulled beef. The meats did not have flavor at all, adding the bbq sauce helps some. The Mac and cheese tastes like the boxed version served to kids. The cole slaw has no flavor and was really watery. The potato salad was heavy on the mayo. I felt robbed paying what I paid for food that none of us liked. Just my honest opinion of the menu items we tried.
google avatar

Chacha S.

Yelp
This is such a cute little local bbq spot that is right along the w&od trail. My family and I biked the trail and stopped by this spot for the first time a few days ago. We ordered "the Runt" which is a family meal that serves 6-8 people. We were a hungry party of 6 but we were still left with quite a bit of leftovers so it can definitely serve 8 people. Also! The pack comes with 3 pints of meat which you are able to choose from pork, beef and chicken (or a combination of all three). We chose to split it between pork and beef. We loved how you can substitute any sides as well - we substituted the beans with mac and cheese (which was really good). You can also add ribs on the side for $20 more, super worth it for us because we loved how tender and flavorful they work. We were also very pleased that our food also came out really quick, about 5 minutes or less.

Kailee F.

Yelp
We found Carolina Brothers through an internet search, and this place did not disappoint. Not only was the food delicious, but this was the cheapest I've ever paid for BBQ in the NoVa area. The staff was beyond welcoming and was helpful and honest when we were ordering. Would be eating here way more often if I lived closer, but would definitely recommend making the stop if you are ever in the Ashburn area!

Peter M.

Yelp
As a North Carolina native, it's always great to have a taste of home. Love coming here for their eastern NC bbq. The meat is flavorful and the sides are great. My daughter loved their banana pudding as well. They are conveniently on the WO&D bike trail and I've stopped by several times over the years as well. If you like NC bbq this is a great choice in northern Virginia.

Yelp
Checked Yelp for nearby restaurants after a facial and Carolina Brothers Pit BBQ popped up with a high rating so I decided to check them out. I ordered the 1/4 rib platter with max & cheese and potato salad with an order of brisket on the side. They are more reasonably priced than the bbq restaurants in my area, my total was $21, but the meal was pretty disappointing. The brisket was tough and shredded/pulled...I'm used to sliced brisket so it wasn't what I was expecting and I didn't particularly enjoy it. The mac & cheese had no flavor or seasoning and the elbow macaroni was too soft, I couldn't even tell what kind of cheese was used...but it tasted like a processed vs real cheese. The potato salad had boiled eggs in it, unexpected and different but not completely terrible. The ribs were probably the best tasting thing I got, but they were cold. Overall the meal wasn't satisfying and it's very unlikely that I would recommend them or go back.

Yelp
Cute BBQ place with a lot of history! Came across Carolina Brothers last weekend while jogging on the O&WD trail (just moved here 2 months ago from NC) and decided to come for a sandwich next time I came for a jog. Their pork BBQ sandwich was just like NCs and all the Texas Pete you could ever want. Mac and cheese was their own and even better with more Texas Pete lol, I definitely recommend trying Texas Pete with your Mac and cheese- instead of being spicy it's creamy and delicious. Also, their cole slaw was mayonnaise base but crunch which is a plus! The atmosphere is homey and can't wait to check this place out once it's warmer. Definitely give this place a try if visiting!

Michaelene M.

Yelp
Super nice staff and food was delicious! Brisket, Mac n cheese, Potato salad, corn bread....all good! Loved the spicy bbq sauce!

Kristine M.

Yelp
My husband and I got takeout order of ribs, bbq beef sandwich, potato salad, and baked beans. It was absolutely delicious! The meat was coming off the bone and it was tender. I love the potato salad. Next time, I think I'll try their coleslaw and see if that is good too. My husband liked his bbq beef sandwich. We appreciate that they separated the meat, bun, and bbq on our to-go platter so that the bun didn't get soggy on our way home. Overall, we enjoyed our meal. It was our first time trying the place and we are definitely going to be coming back.

Yelp
Location, location, location is probably the biggest reason this place is in business. It's a bbq place that only offers shredded bbq plus ribs (no brisket, etc), one bbq sauce, and has flavorless over cooked sides (how do you even overcook bbq sides!!??) Today the guy that took my order had a huge wad of food in his mouth as I approached the counter. He didn't take a moment and chew and then take my order. Nah, he shoved the food to his cheek and took my order while food was coming out on to his lip. Then after he turned to start making my food (still chewing) he wiped the food off his lip with his gloved hand before then putting his hand in the bag of Costco's finest buns. This place is repulsive. And the food tastes bad too. I don't get it. I feel like the owners have checked out or given up.
