The Carolina Club

Was there because of the Carolina Alumni Winter Concert. Let’s just say, compared to other parts of UNC, this is really luxurious though it might be a bit dated. If anything, this reminds me of Baiyoke Sky Hotel in terms of decor. Are the UNC Achordants and their acapella friends here to perform, or to check in? While I don’t remember the songs, at least I do know that they did get decent Christmas music to ‘kick off the holiday season.’ Refreshements are quite similar to the dining halls (I.e. OK, decent quality), but could have included eggnog. Then again, this is Carolina Alumni, NOT the Sheraton/Hilton/Whatever high class hotel you think of.

We love the Carolina Club!!! On campus, great food and fellowship, tailgating, pregame and special events, etc!! Membership price is really low but high value for what you get. Check them out, especially if you have a student at UNC, or just love to dine in Chapel Hill and/or visit the area / school. Ask for Kevin, the membership coordinator. You'll thank me later.

Hard to get in touch with them for meal reservations this past week, or general inquiries. Very little communication from the club in general. Member web page is not available to us. We seem to have missed some transition.

Very friendly members, especially the business builders group. An excellent value for a place to meet for a drink or to host an event for a few hundred of your closest friends (I did one for about 100 people not too long ago). The staff is friendly and well trained (many of them students).

Great food and great service. I really enjoyed our waitress, Annie!

First class from start to finish. Took my mom and the family for brunch. From the moment you're greeted, to the moment you leave, you're treated to great Tarheel hospitality. If you get the chance to go, hope you enjoy as much as we did. 👍🏾

I like going to the Carolina Club. The food is good and the atmosphere is very relaxing.

As a student I enrolled in their Tar Heel Advantage program basically is a buffet all you can eat but chef style from Tue to Fri. Great place great food (occasionally too salty). Also tried their dinner, with limited menu, the chef does nail the food --- judging from the steak I had, not surpassing the best steakhouse in triangle but definitely in top tier. Bit expensive but for those occasions, you should consider it.

I recently had the opportunity to attend a meeting at The Carolina Club. parking was easy, and clearly explained to me- park on the third story of the Rams Head deck, then follow the signs. The person who welcomed us at the entrance was helpful and we immediately found our clearly labeled room. The tables had been set beautifully for lunch and we were served our buffet right on time. We had amazingly delicious salmon and fried chicken (maybe pecan-encrusted?). The sides of salad, asparagus, roasted potatoes, and creamy tomato bisque were also all amazing. The desserts were also tasty- mini key lime pies and caramel pretzel brownies! The staff were so attentive with iced tea, water refills, and coffee. I was really impressed with the service. Besides that, everything went so smoothly! The speakers used the microphones and projectors without a hitch. I highly recommend this space for meetings and food!

I eat here as a member every weekday for breakfast and lunch. I have been thoroughly impressed. I'm my one month here they have never repeated the menu. The head chef, who you'll see every now and then at lunch, knows what he is doing. I'm also Impressed with the salad options here - there's generally spinach or kale mixed with other things that really make a salad that much better (fruit, walnuts, goat cheese). The deserts are tempting and often pretty good. Eating here is easily one of the highlights of my day.

This is a beautiful location and the lounge area where we ate was very nice and upscale. The service was a little slip shot and inconsistant. On the one hand we constantly had people coming to the table asking if we needed anything while on the other, it took nearly an hour for the table to get bread. This restaurant has a variety of choices and almost everything has an exotic twist to it. The food was good and the wait staff were very friendly. Overall, I would say if you know someone who is a member of this club, it is worth the visit.

I had a lunch meeting here and I can always say that The Carolina Club never disappoints! If you want a classy meal right in the middle of campus, come here! You have to either be invited by someone who is apart of the club, or become a member. This is my third time coming here and I have enjoyed my stay each time! The food is excellent and the service is top notch. Camille is amazing. She is great at setting up events for you at the club. You should come here for the dessert. The last time I was here, we had a chocolate caramel lava cake...... It melted in my mouth! I plan on becoming a member so I can eat the dessert! Make sure you dress up! This isn't the kind of place you roll up in shorts and a shirt. Nice jeans with a blouse or a dress is what fits the vibe of The Carolina Club. Make sure you go and experience part of the Carolina experience.

Bottom line: The Carolina Club offers an enjoyable campus alumni membership dinner club experience, especially in top line service and many different offerings for membership to participate in. Formal and casual dining offered with good meals. If you are UNC alum near Chapel Hill, look into checking this campus gem out for membership. The Deets: So I've had a membership here at The Carolina Club, the UNC-Chapel Hill alumni dinner club, since its start just after I graduated. After moving away from the Chapel Hill area I get to use its great service less frequently but I still think it is a very nice place to enjoy a good meal and some very unique events. The main dining areas are split between the formal dining room (gentlemen are expected to wear a jacket at least, it's definitely an upscale atmosphere) and the O'Herron Grille where it is more casual. I've dined at both and had great meals. In the formal dining room you are treated like royalty from start to completion of the meal. The Grille is great for a casual meal, apps and drinks after work, etc. Both are by reservation. I will admit that the meals can be for the most part a bit expensive, as well as maintaining membership itself. The most recent occasion I got to use the club is their latest installment of Classic Movie Night last Friday. They showed Psycho, and not only did they show the movie but also had commentary from campus/visiting faculty that were experts in film music and its impact. A three course meal was served during the movie which was very nice. I enjoyed the Herb Roasted Chicken Supreme served with Black Olive Polenta Cakes as the main course. There was also time for coffee and discussion after the movie, this part was a great experience as my two companions Jonathan E. and Carley W. had not ever seen Psycho until that showing...wonderful discussion followed! I have renewed interest in club events after this one and I look forward to other great times.

Had a wonderful experience here. We had breakfast, lunch, and dinner one day as we hosted a work group for a day of training. Service was great all the way around from the front desk to the meeting room attendants, the host to the wait and bar staff. For lunch we ate from the chef's table. It had a nice spread of salads, veggies, and a nice dessert. The entrees were all good, but they were all seafood. Several in our group do not eat seafood so that was unfortunate. A mix of entrees would be better. We had dinner in the grill and enjoyed several of their specials for the night. One included a side of bacon mac which was awesome! If you see it on the menu make sure you give it a whirl. Service was fantastic and the bar staff was very helpful with drink recommendations. As for the meeting space - the room was well appointed. We had the all day beverage service which was well managed. Will be back during football season!

I had lunch here as a guest while I attended a meeting held at the Carolina Club. The experience was ok. The service was great due, in part, to the fact that the students had just graduated so the campus was relatively empty, but the food was "so-so." I think our waiter was grateful for the business. I've been on an unstoppable hamburger kick so, when I saw it on the menu, I asked for one. Unfortunately, the burger had been a frozen patty only moments before it arrived on my plate. My colleagues who chose the lunch buffet and were far more richly rewarded than I. They described the Paella in glowing terms. And the soup du jour, they said, was quite tasty. If you don't know a member and can't get in, it's not the end of the world. If, on the other hand, you do get a chance to try it, it won't be an unpleasant experience. In short, it fits the definition of 3 stars.

We enjoyed the bar and think for apps and drinks it would be great-sadly our meal was mediocre at best-we had a gift certificate but if we hadn't I probably would've sent back my meal. Service at bar was great-table side was "ok" for the prices and reputation I would have expected more

The BEST customer service without a doubt. The food and drinks are excellent. The menus are always changing during the seasons which provides a great variety of choices. A great place to take anyone for a 5 star experience.

I was in a wedding at the Carolina club this past weekend. The food and service were fantastic. The event staff went above and beyond to help out. We needed antacid for the bride and the kitchen staff was able to procure some on the fly...so lovely. The passed appetizers were fantastic as was the plated meal. The best wedding food I have had in a long time. There were small issues with the wedding (like the bridal party rooms lacking snacks and beverages) but we adapted and made do. A great location for a chapel hill native to get married.

The Carolina Club is a members only restaurant serving members of the Triangle community. The prices are pretty high here, but well worth it. The portions are large and the menu changes frequently minus a few standard items (crab cakes, rack of lamb, etc). The servers are all professional, and thus the attire for the Carolina Club is formal (jacket required for guys). If the location was easier to get to, and more parking was available, I'd give it 5 stars.

My wife and I ate here last week. We parked on stadium Drive on the UNC campus, and walked a short distance to the George Watts Alumni Center. The restaurant is in the downstairs of the Alumni Center building. Beautiful building with old school charm. I wanted a romantic dinner for a special night, and the Carolina Club restaurant did nor disappoint. There is a choice of an informal grill type restaurant, or they also have a more upscale dining room called "Traditions.". We chose Traditions, and were very happy with our choice. The table settings were beautiful, the room was beautiful, and the atmosphere was sophisticated and upscale. We found our wait staff to be attentive and professional, but not so much as to be intrusive. My wife and I were able to enjoy the meal at a leisurely and unhurried pace, which is something we rarely get to do. We relaxed, and talked, and ate, and enjoyed. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. We both chose the Surf and Turf Special of the night. Overall the experience was excellent . . . even magical. If you want something a cut above the usual, I would recommend eating and/or entertaining here.

Loved brunch! Such a great setting. My only complaint is the price-- overpriced for the food selection
