Yelp
When I was young and first started traveling to new cities, I always wanted to see their libraries. Seattle's is amazing. Juneau's is nothing to write home about. University of Massachusetts's is indeed the tallest in America, but was also kind of disappointing, with nasty windows, a scary elevator, and a funky smell.
Today, is my first review of a library on Yelp. And this library is a good one!
If you're searching for a quiet place to study, or if you're nearby and have an hour to spare, check this place out.
To the right of the entrance is a neat little hallway with displays of really, really old manuscripts and maps. Among their collection is the Silver Bible, a bible translated to gothic, written in silver ink on purple parchment.
If you have a bit more time and feel like quietly exploring a library, you can drop off your bag and camera at the bag check. There are these three-story creaky spiral staircases that lead to a balcony that overlooks rows of desks were university students are studying. There's another room with these strange chairs whose backs are so large, they become cubicles.
And, always an important thing in Uppsala: free bathrooms.
