We came for lunch and stayed for the wine. Both were fantastic! The food was soooo good and super reasonable. The service was fast and food came out quickly. Atmosphere was quaint and it looked like a place locals go as some of the customers knew each other. After lunch, we did the wine tasting. Rhonda was so awesome. She explained how the owner refuses to increase prices on the wine because that’s not why he’s doing this. ❤️ I thought the prices were per glass. It’s per bottle! Crazy! Thank you so much!!! You won’t find this wine anywhere else because they only sell the wine to the restaurant on site and nowhere else. You can only find these beautiful wines from the property, which makes it even that much more special!

OMG, this is a hidden gem! Not an exaggeration in the least bit. I really don't want to leave this review because I'm afraid the word will eventually get out as to how good the food is here and, before you know it, there will be a 2 week waiting list for a reservation. I had the schnitzel sandwich with aioli dressing with a blue cheese, pear, fig, and walnut salad. My wife had the same but with a beet, goat cheese, pickled onions, and walnut salad. If I was blindfolded and served, I would think I'm at a Michelin star restaurant. The amazing food is only surpassed by the incredible staff. Thank you Christine. Like the restaurant, you're a gem. UPDATE Came back here the next day on our way home. Had the chicken teriyaki poutine and shrimp tacos. Did not disappoint. Consistently good. It's ashame they are not open for dinner. Will definitely be back.

Food and atmosphere was PHENOMENAL. *I had the shrimp tacos and fries and everything was amazinggg. The baked brie was also to die for! The prices were very reasonable for the qualityThe wine tasting was $5 for 4 glasses and the fee gets waived if you buy at least one bottle, which wasn’t a problem for us since we got 6 bottles! Highly recommend.

We had the burger, shrimp taco, chicken sandwich, and beef dip French sandwich. Everything was tasty and well-prepared. The service was excellent and the staff were all very kind and helpful, which made the experience enjoyable. If I had to mention a couple of small points, the vegetables could have been a bit fresher and the meat could use just a touch more spice for extra flavor. Overall, though, it was a great meal and I would definitely recommend Caroline Cellars.

This was our first time at the Caroline Cellars restaurant, and we really liked it. The restaurant was very busy, so we had to make a reservation two days in advance. Everything we tried was very tasty, but the highlights were the shrimp tacos and the trout—both were absolutely amazing. We also enjoyed the wine; they had a good selection of wines by the glass, and the ones we chose were excellent. The service was good, the prices reasonable, and we will certainly be back next time we’re in NOTL.

Caroline Cellars made our visit unforgettable. We enjoyed a wine flight and a birthday lunch that was out of this world. The wines were beautifully balanced, and the food was fresh, flavourful, and generous. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, making it the perfect spot for a celebration. I can’t recommend it highly enough, an absolute must visit!

This was the first stop on our wine tour, and it ended up being our absolute favourite! 🍷 The selection of wines was fantastic, but what truly made the experience unforgettable was the incredible service from Doug Johnston. He took the time to learn our individual preferences and made personalized recommendations that we all loved. We could’ve easily spent the whole day chatting with him about our lives! We’ll definitely be coming back in the summertime — can’t wait!

An absolutely wonderful spot in the heart of Ontario! The wine is outstanding — rich, aromatic, and truly delightful. The food is delicious, with portions that are huge and more than expected. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, and the service is warm and attentive. A perfect place for anyone who appreciates local products, genuine flavors, and a homely touch. We will definitely be coming back! 🍷✨

It's a Good local, comfort food option, been here a few times over the years and it's a good lunch spot. Doesn't exceed expectations when it comes to flavors and ingredients but it's a reliable go-to.

We booked a week in advance since we were planning on coming here on a Saturday, otherwise we wouldn't be able to dine here. The patio and indoors tables were packed when we arrived and we had to wait until our table was ready. The good thing is you can buy a bottle of wine from the store and kill the time. The service is rather slow and it took them a while to come and take our order and serve the food. The quality of food was moderate; some of the vegetables in our garden salad were rotten and the fries weren't fully cooked.

Came here for some wine and apps and had a great experience. It was raining while I was there so unfortunately I didn't really get to see their outdoor area but I sat in the covered portion and it was very cozy in the rain. Definitely a more casual vibe than some of the other wineries in Niagara on the Lake. The flatbread and creme brûlée were both delicious and the wine was also a lot more affordable than other wineries we went to that day. Will be back next time I'm in the area.

I've been going here on and off for years and recently visited during Canada Day weekend. My latest revisit just solidified this as my favourite winery! Tasting is $5 a flight of 4 glasses. If you purchase a bottle the $5 goes towards your purchase. I wish it was available at LCBO but you can only get it there or their website and pay $15 shipping fee. I have done both before. If you enjoy fruit forward wines with soft tannins, and low acidity. I definitely recommend the following: 2020 Foch VQA - Residual Sugar: 14.3 g/L. Notes of ripe red plums, blueberry, raspberry and a hint of tobacco. One of my favourites! Pinot Cherry - New Release in May 2023. Residual Sugar: 23.2 g/L. Blend of Pinot Noir and Cherry wine. This wine is very fruit forward and juicy. Loving the new release! Prior wasn't as much of a fan but this one is a winner. 2022 Vidal VQA - Residual Sugar: 22.2 g/L. Fruity and crisp with notes of peach, pineapple and melon. Refreshing and light, perfect for a summer day. Service: Staff have always been very friendly and patient. Giving good advice on recommendations. Interior: Standing tastings only, no seats. Interior is a bit dark with wooden paneling all over but it keeps with tradition as the rustic decor has not changed for years if ever. Overall, I will absolutely come back again and again as I have the previous years. I have tried many of their wines and my recommendations above are my favourite go to's. If you prefer something more medium bodied, maybe try their Baco Noir, Cabernet-Merlot or Farmers Red.

Nice Winery with many tasty options.Weathet you want ice, fruit, dessert, white, rose or red you will not be disappointed. Plus you can grab a bite in the farmhouse cafe.I really enjoyed the plum fruit wine I received with fast and friendly service. Plenty of parking on the premises.

This Winery has lots of parking on site.With speedy service and a smile I tried the plum fruit wine which was refreshing and I enjoyed.Lots of options here from red, white to fruit and ice wines.You can also grab something to eat in the farmhouse cafe.

This winery was recommended to me as a low-key winery with reasonable prices for tasting and wine, and it did not disappoint! Apparently they've been growing grapes for awhile but only recently started making their own wine. There are options to taste indoors or outdoors. Tastings are only $5 to try 4 wines, and if you buy a bottle, then the wine tasting becomes free. Sounds like a win win to me! They do recommend reservations on the weekends, and I understand why since this place was hopping on a Saturday afternoon. Don't forget to taste the ice wine! It's super sweet, but it's a unique wine you can only get from these far north wineries. (The grapes can only be harvested when the weather is super cool so that the grape juice is more concentrated.)

Driving from Toronto to Niagara Falls and wanted to stop at a winery or two. We chose Caroline Cellars and so happy we did! This was an "independent winery" in that they were not part of LBCO. This means their wines are not sold but from the vineyard. You get 4 tastings for $5 with no pressure to buy. Our tasting service was excellent. She directed us to wines that we might like according to our known tastes. She also educated us Americans on the LBCO (regulatory rather than a liquor store as we thought!) We were able to purchase a couple of bottles of wine and sit with our food on their outdoor patio. Very nice area.

I love Caroline Cellars and Farmhouse Cafe. The wines are good and inexpensive. Farmhouse Cafe has a covered outdoor patio that is cute - as well as indoor dining. It's a rustic place, very casual and unpretentious. Any time I'm in NOTL, first thing I do is book patio lunch here. I bring all my family and friends here to experience it and they all love it. My favourites on the menu: Sirloin burger Chicken sandwich Shrimp tacos The service is great!! Give it a try and thank me later

Great country vibe! Very true to the farmhouse feel! Food is great, especially the steak sandwich! The poutine is a must as a side! Lemonade is excellent! Great place for family and friends!

I've been to Niagara for wine tours many times and somehow missed this gem! I was at a winery near by so we decided to stop in and what an awesome choice that was. Their wines were all fantastic and very reasonably priced. Some of the best priced wine in the area. The place has quite a rustic vibe so you might not think much of it from the photos online, but I highly recommend popping in. You wont regret it. We loved it so much we bought six bottles!

Nice little wineery and restaurant. The wine tasting was great. We had a very helpful tender who did a great job talkinG us throuugh their many options. For the tasting they offer you four different samples each. Great thing is that with ttes of us we got to try eight of their wines. She walked us through the whites, we sampled four of them. We enjoyed the Farmer's Chardonnay the most, although the Riesling was also tasty. The two Red's we enjoyed the most were the Farmer's Red, a blend and their Cab-Merlot. Both were excellent. We stopped in to the restaurant for a quick snack. The overall menu looked very good, but we settled on the Charcuterie Plate. Good selection at a good price.

Reservations are a must and we know why! The food is amazing, great value and great service. We enjoyed a lunch special, fresh ingredients, portion are sizeable and each meal is perfect marriage of flavour, texture and beauty!

Rib eye and fried chicken sandwiches were delicious. Plenty of covered, outside seating on a nice day. Would definitely recommend stopping here during a day of wine tours!

There are so many vineyards here and many have their own focus on what segment of the market they are trying to attract. I probably came here for the first time in 2004? From what I can recall, they had won several awards and yet, it was quiet, not too many people tasting and the service was unpretentious and excellent. I thought, wow, this place is geared for the locals and everyone who wants to come in and have a taste (you get 4 per person). Fast forward to 2018 and it's still that way, kind hearted staff, really great wine and ice wine and now - a restaurant (which I haven't tried yet). To my dismay, it's more popular now, with tour buses and more people. Which I guess, are all signs of their success but a bummer if you want a peaceful experience. I would recommend that you pick up several bottles of ice wine here, as you won't be able to find this label at any Binny's.

I contemplated the fourth star but decided they deserved if I'm rating solely on food, which was great! Meh wine, but not expensive at all so it balances there, atmosphere was very nice, sitting outside on the patio near vineyards, very friendly service (sat as just 15 min before close) and their price point is really good for Niagara on the Lake. They are only open for lunch (some varying dinner hours) though so plan ahead for that. We ordered a special "taco poutine" which was awesome! Only like $11 for a huge plate of thick fries with gravy, cheese and taco toppings. We also got a $14 charcuterie board which was good too but wish there was more cheese. Overall a really nice experience and would probably go back but there are also so many great places to try in NOTL!

We had the rib-eye sandwich with an upgrade to the poutine and the buttermilk chicken sandwich wih and upgrade to the beet salad. Both were excellent! Hot and well seasoned.

If you want a great glass of wine and something yummy to eat, you must stop at Caroline Cellars. Knowing that I was on a wine tour, I didn't want to fill up on food because I wanted to save more room for drinks. With that being said, we just shared an appetizer which was the arancini (handmade mozzarella stuffed risotto balls). This was my first time having arancini and I'm so glad I did. They were like little bites of Italian heaven. My husband also got the Butternut Squash Brie Soup and he enjoyed it as well. We were on a tour with a group and we were seated with another couple. The only downside was that all of our meals came out at separate times and the one guy almost didn't have enough time to finish his meal because it came out so late. The waitress was very apologetic, I just don't know if they are able to handle so much business at one time. It also took extremely long to get cashed out because they only have one card machine. The actual building itself is crafted with beautiful wood and it really gives you an authentic farm feel. My favorite wine was the rosé - need I say more?!

I went here on a wine tour and tried 4 of their wines. The Riesling, orange, plum, & white ice. I like 3 of 4 but am not an orange wine fan so that was probably the ideal experience for me. Andrea was also very personable. We really enjoyed her helping us.

Free wine tasting = 5*s in my book! Tasting room atmosphere is very casual, so it's less intimidating for people who are new to wines. Caroline Cellars is known for their fruit wines and, of course, their attached restaurant, Farmhouse Café. Rob was very helpful and asked whether or not I preferred drier/sweeter wines and he poured accordingly...generously. Even though I like sweeter wines, I actually didn't really like the taste of their plum or blueberry wines. I ended up getting one of their Reislings and was happy with that! I finally knocked this place off my Bookmarks and will have to come back to Farmhouse (& another wine tasting) in the near future! Highly recommended. :)

Keeping the 5 star streak! This is our FAVORITE vineyard in Niagara and we love the Farmhouse Cafe as well!! The wines are superb and the staff is so very friendly!! The Pinot Cherry is our favorite!! Great gift shop here as well! You have to stop by if you are in this area!! Worth the trip!

Friendly staff that has excellent knowledge of the winery and history. Wine tasting only costs $5 for 4, but if you buy after, it will be waived. Highly recommended the wines here. They are unique and they don't sell it to LCBO. Superb quality as well. The restaurant is also fantastic. Ordered ribs that come with fresh coleslaw and fries. Finger licking delicious and it only costs $14! All the prices are fairly reasonable. On top of that quality is outstanding and staff are excellent.

The wine, food, and hospitality were all fantastic! We were on a wine tour, and Caroline Cellars was our second stop, where we enjoyed both a wine tasting and lunch. From the moment we walked in, the staff was warm and welcoming. We were lucky enough to talk to Jaclyn for a bit. She was so friendly and fun, and we later found out that she is the granddaughter of THE Caroline. To this day, the family is still very involved in the winery and restaurant which is pretty cool. The wines are delicious, and they provided four complimentary tastings. You could also order a glass of wine with your lunch for only $5. I ordered the turkey pot pie and a cup of chicken rice soup. Both were served quickly and piping hot, and everything was so delicious! We also had a buffalo chicken poutine and charcuterie board for the table - these were large, shareable portions and equally tasty.

A few years ago we found Caroline Cellars on YELP - we have found this to be our favorite lunch spot (complete with wines) in Niagara on the Lake ! Great service , beautiful venue and delicious foods and wine !

I came to Caroline Cellars as a bonus stop on a wine tour and I'm so glad we made this special stop. The staff here was fabulous! They were so knowledgeable and passionate about their wine, it truly showed. It's a family owned & operated winery and Caroline's granddaughter was one of the people talking to our group. She gave us some valuable tips with wine tasting that I've carried with me, was very helpful and very nice. The tasting is all wood as is the dining area which gave the whole place a very cozy, homey, very Canadian if I may say so, feel. They gave us a double sided sheet with 31 choices of samples and let us pick three to taste. The sheet gave us detailed information about each wine, including what it would pair well with. They had the BEST ice wine I've ever had! I neeeeed a bottle - award winning 2008 Riesling Icewine. It was so rich, sweet, and fruity yet balanced, like a dessert in a bottle. They looked to have some very tasty choices for lunches as well. I highly recommend Caroline Cellars as a stop while in Niagara - you won't regret it!

Amazing food and wines! One of the best cost benefit wines! The food is very good too! I had a schnitzel and my family had sandwiches! They were all very very good! Duck poutine is awesome!

3.5 Star If you are into Fruit wines, Caroline Cellars is a MUST visit winery if you are in NOTL. Blueberries, Plum, Cranberries? I hope they are loaded with antioxidants. The good thing is that they are not overwhelming sweet! Extra half star for FREE wine tasting! Ok! Even if I am not into fruit wines, I will be back! Maybe to drink them like desserts?

Unlike most wineries in the area, Caroline Cellars looks way more modest and casual. However, it's been on our wine tasting itinerary for years. Free tasting, great wines (be sure to try their plum wine...it's bomb!), very friendly and helpful staff (shout out to Leanne - she made our last visit). If you're hungry, they have an awesome cafe on premises with delicious food. Overall, a truly well-run place.

We were starving having driven from Columbus, OH and landed at Caroline's as they were serving lunch right next door. Grilled Cheese with bacon and what tasted like a jelly inside with a massive amount of fries. YAS! Just what we all needed. Each of us a glass of red and white. Really good service, great little establishment with great service. Would def go back!

Our host at the B&B we stayed at highly recommended this winery. Though not being on our Wine and Chocolate weekend tour, we took the time to check it out - and I am glad we did! Located on an old farm, we walked inside the building and one of the first things we noticed was the large picture hanging on the wall - it was Caroline, in whom the winery was named after. The woman who helped us provided some history of the farm and business. Caroline was the mother of the current owner, who also farmed the surrounding land. She helped her son purchase the vineyard and after years of work and following the passing of Caroline, the winery, only a vision at the time, became a reality. This was another unique winery for the region. They had a lot of varieties to offer, ranging from dry to semi's to sweets to icewine. They had a selection of dessert fruit wines that we did not see offered at any other winery in the area. I sampled the Cranberry, Plum, and Late Harvest Riesling. I came home with the Plum as it was so unlike any other wine I have had before - a very sweet beginning with a very tart ending that provided a nice "zing" on the palate. I thoroughly enjoyed this place. The employee who helped us - she provided a wonderful history of the place, exceptional wine descriptions, and overall enhanced our experience. The wines were unique with an option for everyone and the prices were reasonable. I would not think twice about returning here!

So happy I stopped at this winery. The employees are very nice and welcoming. The wine was so good, loved the cab franc. They also have a room to the side where lunch is served. I have the sirloin burger with fries. The burger was cooked perfectly and fries were fresh. Can't wait to come back!

Came here for a tasting on a bike tour. I've never been to a tasting that had over 30 options. I was overwhelmed when the tasting menu had 2 sides. They offered us 4 samples, but since I had to drive later, I only tasted 2. They had a type I'd never heard of, Fosh. It was pretty good! I'd like to try Fosh from another winery to compare. I also tried their unoaked chardonnay. Tasty! Besides wine, this place is known for their killer restaurant. Sadly, I didn't get a chance to try it while I was in town. I hear it's amazing!

This is my favourite winery in NOTL for past 4 years. I am hooked to their Farmers white, plum, cranberry, rose & many more :P I have been to over hundreds of wineries in NOTL and many other wineries in Eastern Township and Prince Edward county, but this one remains on top. The tasting portion is generous and FREE even for their Icewines . I and my hubby share the tasting and still get drunk by the end, hehe. We taste every wine on the list and they certainly enjoy pouring the wines. Suzanne has been our server since our first visit and she knows our taste and she remembers us, kudos! I love it more because of their fruity but not sugary wines, all their wines have a subtle taste. Their wines are just delicious! They serve lunch on the premises and they a pretty big dining area. All their wines are generally priced between 9- 12$ and totally worth it. Every time I pay a visit here, I end up buying 6- 8 bottles which I have never regret. The best part is they are passionate about their wines and love to share their knowledge but do not push you to buy from them.

5 stars every time. We usually go there for wine tastings and get a couple of bottles (The Plum Wine and Cranberry Wines are amazing). We always make a point to eat in the restaurant when we go, it's usually our go to for lunch in NOTL. Everyday they have a different poutine on the menu, it's big enough for a meal on it's own. The fried chicken sandwich is also unbelievable. Huge portions, great service and really nice homey/outdoorsy atmosphere. We love this place!

I went on a bicycle winery tour with a group of friends and this was our second last stop. Needless to say, we were STARVING by the time we got here. We were so thankful there was a restaurant attached to the winery. The menu isn't expansive but I'm sure everyone can find something to eat. I had the buttermilk chicken sandwich and I had no complaints. It was good, not great, but definitely satisfactory. I almost ordered the salad but I'm glad I changed my order to their fries. They're really good! The winery was one of the less expensive ones on our tour. I loved the feel of the place - very casual and attentive bartenders. Their wines are pretty good and they even have really good juice!

Came here for lunch on the groupon tour. Great service and wine tasting! The portions are big for the price and the food is great too! Love their walnut beets salad!

I've been to this amazing rustic winery twice in the last few weeks and love it. Last time, we tried the restaurant before our tasting and the food was delicious. I had cauliflower and pear soup and a veggie frittata. The veggies were fresh and tasty and everything was well priced. We also did a wine tasting. Unlike a lot of other places in NOTL, you can taste up to 4 wines for free. I'm sure most people end up purchasing wine anyway because its very good and well priced, but it's still a nice gesture. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable, can't wait to come back! I would highly recommend checking out Caroline's cellars if you like cozy, non pretentious places with friendly staff and great wine.

This winery has a great laid back and easy going vibe. They offer free tastings and their wine is quite affordable. They also have a restaurant which I believe only serves lunch. The food is good. Their arancini is delicious. Their fried pickerel is good but the salad that came with it could be better. Lunch also offers $5 wine by glass. Can't go wrong with that.

Great food. Ordered the arincini, crab cakes, beet salad and fish tacos. Food was fresh, delicious and tasted great. Service was disappointing. Extremely slow, staff was rushed and did not seem they were paying much attention.

Came for lunch, where we had a reasonably priced lunch of frittata and a steak & mushroom pot pie. Found the food to be a little on the bland side, but it was overall alright. Service was quick and we had our dishes within about 10 minutes of ordering. I had heard rave reviews before coming and had expected a bit more, but maybe come in with checked expectations and it will be OK!

Adorable local winery! They have a restaurant/patio area to eat and drink. We dropped by around 2-3PM and it looked like people were eating brunch! We came to do a wine tasting for our friend's wedding. They have a large selection of wines available for tasting. Four tastings per person. Certain wines have a tasting fee, for example the sparkling wines or the pricier ones. I'm not sure if regular tasting had a fee, because we ended up buying a bottle anyways, so it was waived. They have about 8 wines with promotional discounts. We liked the dry white wines (eg. the Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay). Our friends decided on the Oaked Chardonnay for their wedding. This place was packed when we were doing the tasting. I think it's a hidden gem. Try it out!

We found this place from reading reviews on Trip Advisor and so glad we did!! Tastings are free and Rob was a delight to talk to about all things wine. He even talked us into trying the ice wines (we aren't into sweet!) and I really liked the plum wine. Wine was very reasonable so we left with several bottles. If you are hungry, there is a restaurant attached to the tasting room. Make sure you include Caroline's on your tour.

Suzanne at Caroline gave us an awesome experience. We were so delighted to have her introduce us to many types of wines. Located in the Niagara reagion Carole's wines are exclusive and not sold at the LCBO. Upon entering the venue, the main focus area is the long bar counters that are filled with many patrons trying out different wines. Overall selection is excellent to accommodate all tastes. They've got an easy step-by-step list of various wines and in some cases they can provide recommendations based on your preference. Glad we came here as a group!

My girlfriend and I wanted to hit up a winery while she was in town and we were doing the Niagara thing. A friend suggested this winery as you can't buy their wine at the LCBO and said that it was great value. Upon our arrival mid-day the place was packed. Their tasting room has a nice rustic feel, but is well maintained. Even with the place being full, the staff still squeezed us in at the end of the bar so we could get down to business. Now I'm a red drinker and my lady friend a white, so while the staff suggested that we try each other's selections, it didn't really matter. The one tasting that really stood out to me was the Marechal Foch. It has a very dark, earthy flavour. I had never tried one before and though Cabernet Sauvignon will stay at my go-to the Marechal Foch is something I want to try more of. With the staff running around like crazy getting everyone their tastings, they still took the time to talk about each wine and answer any questions we had. The only drawback was that sometimes it took a little while to get the next tasting poured. After the tasting we figured out what we wanted to buy. They had a few sales going on which mostly consisted of getting the larger bottles for the price of the smaller. I picked up a few bottles as did my girlfriend. My friend who recommended the winery asked me to phone him so that I could pick some up for him. He wanted two cases. The staff were great at getting his large order together and were willing to take his credit card info over the phone so that I didn't have to hassle with getting cash from him. I would highly suggest putting this winery on your list if you're exploring the area or going on a tour.
