Carrefour Market SXM

Favorite supermarket on the island. Amazing variety and freshness. They have great beef and hard to find cuts like beef tongue, and goat meat, fresh chicken, salmon, sea bass. Great variety of Dutch, French and Italian cheese. Very fresh vegetables including unusual varieties of potato, taro, heirloom tomatoes. Fruits such as passion fruit, key limes. Good parking and a nice restaurant nearby (marks place) if you tire yourself out food shopping.

We shopped here almost daily during our stay. The produce is always fresh and plentiful. Prices are reasonable and plenty of staff on hand to help locate items. Be sure to keep a few dollars on hand at checkout as the person bagging your groceries will appreciate the tip. Parking can be a challenge but a few laps around the lot usually results in an open spot.

Carrefour has largest selection of food on the island. There’s one store which we like a bit more because they carry more gluten free / dairy free items, but Carrefour is the place where we get the majority of our shopping while on vacation here.

Good market with plenty of fresh produce. As an American, the prices were reasonable, in my opinion. Imported goods are more expensive as expected. They do accept USD cash and card. I liked the bakery section. Lots of fun things to try.

Carrefour is the biggest grocery store on the Dutch side. They have 4 locations, I believe. Bush rd, Cole bay, Jordan village, and cupecoy. When it comes to their fresh produce, the organic selection is very small and never really looks fresh. Always thoroughly check packaged fruits and vegetables as there is often mold growing. Also, if a price tag shows a deal price, you have to make sure it is honored at the register as it seems like some of those item's prices have not been updated in the system. Also, you need to make sure that the item price is for the item you're looking at as sometimes the items above the price are not always for that item. In this case you can match the barcode on the product with the barcode on the price to make sure. They also have scanners to check the item price if you can't find it, although they only work half the time. They have a nice section of gluten-free items and a very tiny and inconsistent section of dairy free items. If you need dairy free items, the best place is Fairway market. The pet food is pretty limited, there is a large space for alcohol of all kinds, they even recently started carrying gluten free beer. Personal care aisle has almost everything one would need (nothing natural though), baby section is also decent. Meats are generally pretty good, but not top of the line. If you're in need of high quality meats, then go to the butcher shop in Cole bay. The international section is Indian dominant with some Thai and Chinese. If you need a good place to get Indian items, I would go to Kams food world. Carrefour has its ups and downs, but overall it is the best option if you want to make one stop. (Photo refrence): pirq golden vanilla plant protein costs $50 in Carrefour, and on the official pirq website it is regularly $30 but they frequently have sales. It costs $7 to ship this item here, so I don't know what kinda deal Carrefour has with them, but they're either screwing over the public or being screwed over themselves, and I doubt it is the latter. Om mushroom protien, $24 online, and in Carrefour you have the smaller size for $122 and the larger size (just by 1oz) for $44... Just another example of the lack of attention to detail and potential ways the customer gets shafted if blindly shopping.

Fantastic VEGAN selection at this store!!!! The best we have come across at a grocery store yet. They have bathrooms and WiFi, get at customer service. They have a tech store if you need a SIM card. Parking is compact, but free. Super helpful and friendly staff and clean facility. They take credit cards or cash. Highly recommend. Cheers

Surprising number of US brands in this store, up to you if that is good or bad. Also, the prices are all listed in USD, which is so convenient as to be disconcerting.

Huge grocery store, very clean. Gigantic selection. Staff was very helpful and pleasant to help me locate items quickly on vacation.
