Great value for money. Lovely castle and the tunnel was an added treat! Absolutely love that health and safety hasn't ruined the experience by putting barriers and fences up at every danger point. It actually felt real. The cost wasn't high and the chap in the ticket booth was very friendly and helpful. A lovely little walk around the castle (that's free) The little cafe and shop is also nice. Although the handwritten signs forbidding you from using the toilet unless you're a customer feels harsh and unfriendly to visitors.

So so beautiful!! Popped here this afternoon no walking gear I may add and it was stunning the roads to the castle are very tight and narrow but it’s so worth it. There’s a decent sized car park and a cafe at the bottom. Lovely walk up I did with my dog as its dog friendly and only £7 entry for an adult well worth it for the castle and the beautiful views

The druve to the castle was really picturesque. The car park had plenty of space and the cafe was very nice with good staff, and great views. The walk up to the entry point for the castle was a nice steady incline. The entry fee was worth the rest of the visit yo the castle, again great views and places in the castle yo explore. Also a visit into the cave was well worth it. It is a very steep steps and slope descent down and back up if you have the legs snd footwear for it.

My favourite castle since childhood, it never fails to inspire me with its breathtaking views, fairytale charm and its awe inspiring cave. A hidden gem that thankfully isn’t an overrun tourist trap means that you can enjoy the castle and its surrounding areas in peace and quiet and truly soak up the atmosphere. The castle of course is atop a stunning cliff edge which means it’s a bit of a hike, with plenty of steps in the castle and some very steep ones going down into the cave it is of course one to take on only if you feel you are mobile enough. Wheelchair users and those with pushchairs would find it impossible as access from the ticket box to the castle has no path, up a steep hill and entry into the castle is via steps. The castle is surrounded by quintessential beautiful Welsh nature, including some very friendly neighbours, a herd of sheep who are free to roam about around the castle. So there is of course plenty of their droppings, so make sure you bring wellies or hiking boots that you’re happy to get a bit messy. You don’t want to navigate the mine field in your best trainers! All in all I have never found any negatives when it comes to Carreg Cennen castle, it is the most beautiful and charming castle to me, I always love approaching the castle and seeing it emerge on the horizon atop the cliff edge like something out of a fairytale book. It deserves more attention, but at the same time in some ways I hope it never gets discovered by any “influencers” and becomes overrun. The peace of Carreg Cennen is part of its charm, there’s nothing like sitting atop the cliff after exploring the castle and just looking out over the breathtaking view, in the quiet and surrounded by nature and just feeling a wonderful sense of peace.

The most picturesque castle I have ever seen. If you enjoy visiting castles, this must be top of your bucket list. A short uphill but beautiful walk to the Castle with Red Kites circling above and a plethora of bronze age burial chambers onto of the opposite ridge, the area is dripping in pre-history. Take a torch with you and you will be able to explore the mysterious ancient cavern beneath the castle. I would recommend a quick refresh on medieval Welsh history before you visit to fully contextualise the castle.

Amazing castle, full of information. Very friendly staff selling tickets, yummy cakes and drinks. Would definitely recommend buying a ticket to see the castle and the 50m walk into the passageway and cave. Lovely day out in beautiful countryside. Well recommended.

Nice castle on top of a hill. The views from there are so beautiful and is very peaceful. The only dowside is the price, £7 per adult is quite high to the some ruins

As I live in the area, I have visited Carreg Cennen a number of times over the years. Originally, it was free to visit, but now costs £7. There is a free car park with a cafe/restaurant (The Barn). It appears to be a very popular attraction these days, and the structure has been well maintained. It's a nice brisk walk up, and you are rewarded with spectacular views all around. Don't miss the cave in the depths of the castle, but watch your head and it can be slippery underfoot (you will need a mobile phone torch 🔦). Well worth a visit.

These ruins aren't as fancy as other castles in the region, but they are much calmer and much less crowded, which makes it a perfect place for a picnic. Enjoy the silence, where you can hear only birds and sheep and cows on the hills around. If you are adventurous, bring a torch and go explore the natural caves under the castle - but be careful, it's really slippery down there!
