Public Access Denied — Thanks to Local Elitism
This used to be a beautiful, public set of trails — a place for everyone to enjoy nature and local history. Now, a handful of residents living along the access road have decided they’re too important to share. They’ve blocked the road with an automated gate under the flimsiest excuse imaginable: a so-called “fire hazard.”
Let’s be honest — this is not about safety. It’s about privilege. A few people got tired of seeing anyone else near “their” neighborhood and decided to privatize public access. The result? A once-welcoming community space turned into a gated playground for the few.
You can still walk up, but the message is clear: regular people are no longer welcome. Disappointing, short-sighted, and a perfect example of how elitism erodes shared public goods.
