The former quarry reminded me of an ancient Egyptian monument. The multi media show is absolutely amazing. An immersive art installation taking you on a beautiful and magical journey. The creators have done an outstanding Art Show.

A magical immersive art experience inside a former quarry! The projections are stunning, the music perfectly matches the visuals, and the atmosphere is breathtaking. Easy parking, smooth organization, and enjoyable for all ages. Absolutely a must-visit in Provence!

We've seen the Van Gogh exhibition in St Petersburg and Klimpt in Phoenix. This exhibit outdors Klimpt by light years and is better than Van Gogh. Seating is limited but the space is gigantic in comparison. totally amazing!

We visited Carrieres des Lumieres on a day trip to Les Baux de Provence this week. It was very windy and quite hot so it was great to go into the cave and enjoy the art. Currently they have Monet and Rousseau exhibitions featured. It was very enjoyable to find a spot and enjoy the visuals. We stayed a little over an hour and that was good for us. I definitely recommend if you’re in the area. There is parking across the street and a bit further down that is convenient for the art and a short walk to town. Overall it was a great experience for us.

I personally do not like the show. it’s simply animating the paintings. Monet ones are okay, but Henri Rousseau drawings don’t look right. I appreciate the effort but I won’t recommend.

It is not as nice as people can think. But it is well executed, unique and absolutely worth a visit. Plus you are next to the "baux de Provence" so you can combine the visit. It is nice with children even of young age as they are free to move.

A must go to if you’re around this way, inside this quarry such an amazing feat, we had a couple of art displays from Monet and Rousseau in about an hour show, nearly as interesting as the lumieres show in Bordeaux at the submarine bunker I love the way they do this here in France the locations are fantastic

A unique and spectacular way of displaying art form in an amazing venue. You just have to go you won't be disappointed.

I love this venue and have been coming here every year since 2014. I really loved the Impressionists . The one this year was Van Gogh and Japan. Very beautiful and Mesmerizing.

What a fun show and particularly pleasing to be in a cave on such a hit afternoon. I enjoyed the art and very clever presentation via the unusual light show .

Hands down the best art installation I've ever been to. Unbelievably timed and edited video/graphics. The music was a combination of classical and contemporary. I was expecting typical Mozart type music with the Van Gogh artwork but instead it also contained music from Janis Joplin, Nina Simone and Moses Sumney. Also, the full video lasted about an hour (I was expecting a quick 10-15min reel). I was complete blown away from start to finish and will be an experience I will never forget. I can't recommend it enough!

We had visited the Atelier des Lumières when we were in Paris, and decided to go to this location as well while touring around Provence. We're glad we did because we enjoyed this one much better. We were smarter this time around about bringing our toddler and timed our visit with her nap so that she could be asleep in her carrier while we enjoyed the show. That worked, praise be! We were there for the Van Gogh/Japanese show, and it is a pretty majestic experience to watch the art being illuminated on these massive stone quarry walls. We liked that they turn the lights on after the show so that you can see/be reminded of the beautiful space that you're in. BUY YOUR TICKETS IN ADVANCE because this place will really fill up, especially in the high season. A quick shoutout to the very nice security folk who let us in a day early after we had explained that we stupidly bought tickets for the wrong day (really helps to speak French here). FYI, it also gets chilly in there, so plan accordingly. As we mentioned for the Atelier in Paris, this isn't "high art" by any means, but it's nice to experience it for what it is in an incredibly unique location.

So glad we made a day trip here from Avignon. The light show rotates every 4 or 6 months, and the show they had while we were here was Marc Chagall. Quite frankly I was thinking "light show for Marc Chagall?"....I have seen laser shows for Pink Floyd, and in my mind I was trying to relate how it might be done for Chagall. Suffice to say that this "light show" is nothing like a laser light show. Rather, they project the artist's work on the walls of this cave and sync it with music. Saying 'project' and 'sync' are overly simplistic terms (this is NOT a slide show), but I won't describe it any further for I feel that you should be surprised by the presentation in which you are literally immersed into the subject matter. NOTE: no matter what the temperature is outside, bring warm clothes with you because it can get quite chilly inside the cave (I think it was around 50-55 Fahrenheit in the cave). I put a microfleece on under my jacket, and a beanie on my head, and that kept me plenty warm. The show is a loop that lasts approximately 30-45 minutes, consisting of two shows (one of which was Marc Chagall). Both shows were fantastic, and we were extremely happy that we went. Should we find ourselves in the area again, we will definitely go back to see a new artist.

You don't have to be a museum person to enjoy this. Family friendly! My husband and I are not interested in museums in general. However, they were doing a Van Gogh special here and we thought it sounded lovely. This turned into one of the highlights of our trip. The museum is in a quarry! It is so beautiful and the town is also worth the visit to walk around. We loved it so much and highly recommend a visit.

Stopped here after visiting Les Baux. Exceeded expectations. Dynamic art show of light projected on the massive walls of a huge former limestone quarry located inside solid rock. Simply incredible. First various French artists' work was projected accompanied by appropriate music through an excellent sound system. Quite long. Followed by a short "Reves" projection. Even with over 100 people inside it would not be crowded. Parking is cramped, but worth the wait. People are continually leaving so parking spots open up frequenty. Recommend seeing this AFTER visiting the former fortress at Les Baux. It will increase your appreciation of the show.

Carrieres de Lumuires is a sound and light show in a converted quarry just outside of Les Baux de Provence. The entry ticket includes two shows - we saw 'Picasso' and 'Flower Power'. As the venue is a disused quarry the inside is cavernous and fitting for projected images. The sound quality and choice of music was great. The free parking lot is small, many cars were parked along the road nearby. We would happily visit again.

This was one of our greatest highlights of our European adventure. It hard to believe how they put this incredible display together. The pictures, music and setting are pure genius. In fact, we watched it 2 times. Also, the Chateau Les Beaux, right in the same area, is wonderful too. You can tour the entire "fortress", then grab lunch before heading into the show. Best to get your tickets and reservations before hand. If not, your liable to stand in a long line.

Super cool audio and visual art experience in amazing underground space. When visiting Baux make sure to step into this giant man made cave. Tons of video projectors light up the walls with painting (some animated) set to music.
