Carton King Creative Park – Taichung City, Taiwan - Gastro Obscura

"Taiwan is home to many unusual themed restaurants, but the Carton King Creative Park could perhaps take the biscuit. All its furnishings, decorations, and even plates and cutlery at this whimsical cafe are made of cardboard. Snuggle up in the cardboard seats, wait patiently at the cardboard tables, and enjoy your meal out of cardboard bowls or off cardboard plates. If you’re worried about your cardboard seat collapsing during your meal, the bulkier chefs are willing to pull out a seat and demonstrate the cardboard’s sturdiness, even with a waitress perched on their laps. After your meal, wander around the paper art garden, with its all-cardboard exhibits including world landmarks like the Eiffel Tower, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, and Big Ben, alongside windmills, sheep, monkeys, swords, giraffes, and a maple tree with paper leaves. Or, if you’re too tired to wander, a working cardboard train travels around the whole place. None" - erjeffery, nickelcurry

The whole place is like stepping into a giant imagination playground where everything—chairs, tables, decorations, even a train is made from carton. It’s quirky, a little wacky, but in the best way possible. I loved how creative the designs are, you actually forget you’re surrounded by cardboard until you touch it and go, “Wait, this thing is sturdy!?” The gift shop is also full of cute papercraft souvenirs. The restaurant area is fun too. Sitting on carton chairs eating hotpot feels surreal but surprisingly comfortable. Definitely a spot that’s more about the experience and photos than fine dining.

First visit 7 yrs ago was very impressed. Got some additions now but it’s kind of a bit run down. Not much visitors other than some local elderly.

It is a great invention. We had discounted coupons given with admission fee to buy drink, product. It is great for kids, young people, even older people to enjoy. There was music in the park. It was a nice walk around. We collected all stamps to some crackers.

Perfect place for a half-day outing with younger kids. Very accessible by public transport as the bus stops at the entrance. Overall a compact arrangement but with decent amount of activities, please see pictures for activities details. Baby car accessible, clean toilets and multiple eating options including coffee shop (yes they offer latte & espresso) and reasonable lunch places. I was surprised to see that they cater for Muslim/halal options and offer prayer space & mats, very rare for such places in Asia.

Personally I would rate it a 4 but my children said it was super fun and requested for this to be upgraded to 5 stars. While the place was not super big, the various play items remade from cardboard boxes and steel drain covers was ingenious. There were miniature cardboard replicas of different iconic landmarks around the world. The slides and carnival play items provided plenty of fun for the kiddos. For 50 NTD, one can also sit the carton train which sits up to 10 pax. Tips: The entrance ticket consists of 3 vouchers which you can use to redeem drinks and food. There is also a mini-game to collect stamps and redeem a mini prize (biscuits)

There's million things to look at and a surprise around every corner. Warning, visiting will bring out the kid in everyone. This place is jam packed with all kinds of fun souvenirs, and even has a cafe, and two restaurants! Visit during the weekday to avoid the crowds.

What a lovely and interesting place. We spent about 2hrs here but could easily stretch to 4hrs if u intend have some food and drinks at their cafe. Totally wow by the things they made out of cardboard. Amazing creatively. Using the ticket, u need to go around the park to collect stamps. Upon completion. Head to the second floor outdoor cafe to redeem a gift. They have famous landmarks are around the park. On the second level, there even a bee/honey shop. My kids love the ride on the cardboard train around the park and it only cost NTD50 per pax.

Very unique experience. All items are made with paper and cardboard with live animals. It is a very well planned area with multiple themes in the park. (And multiple levels) Definitely worth a visit if you are travelling in a car. Part of the ticket price could be used in the park for food and activities. Staff is very friendly and kids friendly.
