The Reinvention of Birmingham, Alabama

"The Carver Theater for the Performing Arts and Jazz Hall of Fame is Birmingham’s only remaining black theater. It will debut as a performance space and reopen its adjoining museum in 2019."

Went there to see Purple Kiss, the venue was very intimate and it was amazing to see them so close!! Staff were very friendly, and I hope they can do more kpop concerts in the future if possible. (Parking was down the road, so we had to walk. I would say that was the only downside to the venue.)

Absolutely love this venue. The inside is beautiful and clean. And the staff are super friendly and nice. Would definitely go again! Drove all the way from Charlotte NC!

The venue is very nice, and the handling of the admission into the building was not executed well their was a gentleman in a wheelchair trying to maneuver his chair around the crowd ,you had to give your name to ladies that sometimes would engage in conversation with friends. They had appetizers set up in the lobby area, which didn't help with the congestion of people.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised at how intimate this venue was for a somewhat large group. The lobby area was great as a reception area for an event. Large enough for different food and drink stations, along with a cocktail section if needed. I appreciated the comfortable theater seating. The sound system was great fro speakers, artistry, music and movies. The stage was large enough to host a play, band or exhibit. Hope to go back for other events. The venue hosted a screening of the documentary #Descendant currently shown on Netflix. Thank you Birmingham's Sierra Club for informing us on our Alabama and National history.

Yelp
I really love the Carver Theater and love its rich history. So many great musicians and artists have performed at this venue over the years. The Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame has a notable exhibit area that's worth checking out. In addition, the theater has numerous creative and artistic events throughout the year. I have attended the dynamic Onstage at the Carver monthly event that showcases amazing spoken word artists, singers, and a multitude of performers since my freshmen year of college. It is definitely a Birmingham treasure that everyone should check out!
