Cary Arms & Spa

Third visit to this fabulous hotel and location. ||This time was to celebrate our 30th Wedding Anniversary.||From the moment we walked in we were welcomed with open arms and it truly does feel like a home from home.||No special mentions as I have to say every single member of staff who we dealt with were all friendly, helpful and couldn’t no enough for you. ||We decided on a beach hut this time which was fabulous and appreciated the complimentary wine, sloe gin, crisps, popcorn, chocolates and biscuits. On arrival we had a lovely card and Prosecco waiting. Very thoughtful. ||I haven’t put a 5 as don’t like criticising this place but just felt we had to wait a bit for breakfast and felt on occasions the mains were a bit overcooked. My husband had the smoked salmon and scrambled egg which looked a bit burnt. Also, I had eggs Benedict on two occasions and I think sauce had split and poached eggs overcooked. We both had the bubble and squeak with fried eggs overcooked but felt the bubble and squeak was not cooked enough and very runny. ||We ate in on a couple of occasions. The fish and chips was superb and the crab pasta wasn’t bad but could have been better.||I’m sorry to mention the above food issues.||Overall, a lovely stay and am sure we will be back at some point in the future. ||Thanks again all for a lovely stay. ||Gill Westwood

Today I visited the Cary arms to use the spa facilities. I was delighted by the friendliness of the staff and the cleanliness of the facilities on offer. They were very quiet with only myself at some points. I enjoyed the Work it out massage done by Steph who was lovely and did an incredible job of my massage (firm but needed as requested) would love to book in again. Highly recommend this treatment. The spa facilities although small were well maintained and clean with comfortable loungers and a lovely hydro pool overlooking the sea. As well as the normal sauna and steam room it also included ice cold filtered water which was a lovely bonus. Highly recommend and thank Steph for my lovely massage!

Second visit to Cary Arms and even better than mine last visit two years ago!|We stayed in a beach hut and they are 5 star! The service is 10/10 with every single member of staff! The team is so happy to help & happy to be there working too. Am trying to plan my 3rd visits back now for 2026!|The food is lovely and I had the best cocktails & hot chocolate. ||The whole place is beautiful 🤩 you have to go |Go direct! We stayed as a family here at the end of July and we were all very impressed. First time in Torquay and I think we managed to pick the best place with the most beautiful views, the staff were wonderful and couldn’t do enough for us, special thanks to Linda at breakfast, so helpful and my young boys adored her! We had two fantastic evening meals at the captains table, great food and service. |It was our first time down in Torquay and we are hoping it won’t be our last, if we do manage to get back down we won’t be staying anywhere else but here! What kind and beautiful staff! Stopped in for a hot chocolate on a lovely sunny day. The Terrace has beautiful views across Babbacombe and it was just a lovely experience. The staff were wonderful - there was nothing they wouldn't do - and they were smiley and kind. Lovely food, lovely place, lovely people. Thank you! (Super shout out to Kane, who was our main member of cheerful staff - thank you!)

Very disappointed. Left standing at the bar no welcome, no service. I am a local and have been to the bar before and in previous ownership where the service was better. Get the impression you are not welcome unless you are down from London. We left without being served and found a much friendlier welcome on the Downs

Had a lovely massage with Steph today. Deep tissue work it out massage. She was so lovely and put me at ease. I then continued to use the spa facilities after the treatment and it was so quiet I was the only one there (lush). The facilities although smaller were what you’d respect (eg sauna, steam room etc) the hydro pool was lush with views out over the sea and everywhere was spotless. Would definitely book in for another treatment. And recommend others to as well!

Beautiful views, dreadful road in and out. No free parking. Food fresh and made on the premises. I had a vegetarian pasta dish which was nice but seemed overpriced at over £20. Service was excellent, attentive without being obtrusive and the staff were delightful.
