Casa 69 San José

Lovely hotel! The rooms had a nice decor to them, and were spacious. Plenty for 4 people. Beds were large and comfortable. Delicious, homemade breakfast was served in the morning. The people working here are very friendly and easy to talk to. They will help you with anything you need. Make sure to also pet the dog in the reception! The location is decent, 15 minute walk to downtown. The only small complaint I have is the parking. It was difficult to find it, and it’s room for 2 cars. Like a driveway, if one car has to leave earlier than the other, you may have to flip the cars, so id suggest looking for a different parking location. Otherwise, I highly recommend this hotel!

We really enjoyed spending the night in this hotel when landing at San Jose before starting our trip in Costa Rica. The room was spacious, beds comfortable, and above all very quiet. After a perfect 9h sleep night we could enjoy the amazing breakfast with fresh juice, local fruits, home made jams, bread from the oven and local recipes of eggs. Definitely a great stay ! The evening upon arrival we could have dinner in a very nice Peruvian restaurant located just 50m away for the hotel. Very convenient and very nice

Nice place on the inside but hard to find. The entrance was a small blue door with a tiny sign that merely said “69.” Like many city hotels, there was no off-street parking (curb parking was a tow-away zone) except a tiny tight space shared with the hotel owner. There was no in and out and it cost $12 extra a night. The hotel was reasonably priced with nice rooms and a great breakfast but it was fenced in razor wire and it was unsafe to walk around at night. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There was also a VERY LOUD streetcar 100 feet away that ran well into the night and started early in the morning. It wasn’t mentioned in the hotel’s description. It woke me up a few times. There was food within walking distance: Costa Rican thick sausages with salsa at a stand next door. There was also a KFC and a Pizza Hut nearby. It’s within walking distance of downtown San Jose with several sites (museums and such) and a Chinatown area.

We recently visited Costa Rica and stayed at Casa 69 in San Jose. The service from all the staff was amazing, they went out of their way to make us feel welcome and treat us like family. Special thanks to Winston and Enrique (Edgar) they made our stay extra special! Good breakfast, clean rooms very quaint lobby area. I would definitely stay here again . Absolutely amazing for the price! The staff is so friendly and helpful, the rooms are very clean, and this is walking distance to many places. I stayed here for a week on the top level and loved it. Patio on top has great views. There is a little hot dog window next door that is amazing. The one night I didn’t want to find a place for dinner and just eat in this was perfect. There is also an in-hotel sweet dog named Violeta as well! This was great because I was missing my own dogs. Breakfast is abundant and you will likely only need one more meal for the day! There is not AC in the room but with the breeze coming in and fan going it stayed plenty cool at the end of May. Hot water and good shower pressure! You can have clothes laundered! Solid WiFi!They will fill your water bottle! Great conversations in the main dining area in the evening over wine as well!

Superb B&B with the most welcoming hosts you’ll ever meet. Casa 69 San José isn’t a fancy hotel, but it’s extremely comfortable and spotlessly clean. My room was spacious and had everything I needed. Yes the hotel is quite close to the train tracks, but during my two nights there I didn’t hear the train at all. So the trains are either pretty infrequent, or I was literally unconscious! I slept really well and wasn’t disturbed by any noise from outside or by other guests. Breakfast is served 7-9am and it’s not to be missed! You can help yourself to tea and coffee, as well as fresh fruit. You’re also given fruit juice, freshly baked bread, and eggs of your choice. Casa 69 is just a 20min stroll into downtown, and the hotel is surrounded by lots of restaurants and bars. I really enjoyed my stay here and if ever I return to San José this is where I’ll be booking.

Hotel Casa 69 is an absolute gem in the heart of San Jose. The entire staff is absolutely fantastic, and they made our stay truly perfect. Special mention to our taxi driver, Walter, who went above and beyond for us, and also made our stay special. We will remember this place for sure!

Very friendly and helpful staff. All staff especially Winston went the extra mile to make one’s stay an outstanding experience. Welcoming, clean, safe and secure. Fabulous breakfast . Highly recommended. An oasis in a large and complex city.
