Casa 69 San José

If I ever fly into San Jose again, I will, without hesitation, stay at Casa 69 again. Winston and crew are incredibly friendly, helpful, and just lovely people. I chatted with Winston several times via email prior to our trip to ask questions and he always replied in a timely manner, immediately to be honest. The hotel is within walking distance to many restaurants and bars, to stores, to the parks. It was so convenient. We were driving a rental car and there is off-street parking available at the hotel. I would let Winston know ahead of time if you will require a parking spot. The rooms are very cute, spacious, and clean. Breakfast is served daily and cooked by Winston and other staff and it was delicious. The breakfast area is so charming and relaxing too. On our last day, Winston and Enrique were super helpful in helping us navigate which route to take to La Fortuna and I am so glad we took Enrique's suggestion. It was a beautiful drive. Also to note, the hotel is secure, we felt very safe staying there. We stayed for 2 nights. 10/10 recommend staying at Casa 69 while visiting San Jose.

Casa 69 is a very charming small hotel a 10-20 minute walk to restaurants and the downtown cultural activities. Kurt, Winston, Walter, Enrique and the rest of the staff were very friendly and helpful, making our 2 night stay comfortable and fun. Our room was clean and comfortable. Their breakfast was very well prepared with fresh, warm bread, eggs, fried plantain, rice & beans, fresh local fruit, jam & butter, coffee & tea. The rooftop patio was very nice addition. Beautiful tropical themed artwork throughout, lovely indoor plants, a fountain with koi fish helped to make this small hotel a gem. I highly recommend staying here.

The hotel and rooms are decorated so stylishly. The staff goes above and beyond to help you feel comfortable. Violetta, the dog, gives the place a special touch. I had such a negative experience the first night I arrived in San José, but if I stayed here it would have been a completely different story. There's a nice hotdog place next door for comfort food cravings which is perfect. There's no airconditioning, but for low/wet season it doesn't feel like you're missing anything (in my opinion). It's a shame it was raining when we arrived and had to leave early the next morning, otherwise I would have enjoyed a tea on the terrace. I can't recommend it enough.

We stayed there for twa days, absolutely loved it! Great owners, great staff, nice dog:) The owner is fluent with many languages like: German, English, French, Spanish, Liked the decor, all the paintings, even in the rooms. Breakfast just the best ever. Great deal for the price!

What you need to know: No AC, train nearby, no pool, if any of these are an issue, not your place. Not of these were an issue at all for us. Our stay: Absolutely a 10/10, the service is AMAZING! The entire staff is friendly and treat you like family. We absolutely loved our stay and will definitely go back and highly recommend it if you want a safe, clean and centrally located place to stay. The breakfast is not continental, it’s a full breakfast and it’s absolutely delicious and fresh! Good coffee, fresh fruit, eggs your style, bread, fresh jams etc. Kurt was simply amazing and Justin is someone you will absolutely love and enjoy having a conversation with. Thanks Kurt, Winston, Justin and rest of the staff, you made our stay a great experience!!!!!!

Perfect location. Exceptionally welcoming, helpful and friendly staff. Small, beautiful and comfortable hotel. Large and comfortable bed. Absolutely delicious breakfast. Garden inside the hotel. Close to Central Market and National theatre

The best hotel in San José. The staff goes above and beyond to help you and the rooms are so stylish. The hotel is located close to train tracks and only has fans (no AC), but this didn't ruin the experience at all.
