Casa Adela is truly a magical place. While there, you feel like you have your own private piece of the earth all to yourself. The staff is amazing! My family (16 of us) spent a week there to celebrate my 60th birthday and we loved being in a remote location but that also came with challenges that I will share...
Casa Adela is not 15 minutes from San Miguel - at least not right now. The highway that leads to the house is under construction and travel to and from San Miguel can take up to an hour or better depending on traffic. Keep this in mind as well as the associated cost (not cheap!). Ubers won't pick you up at the house but they will take you back and those seemed less expensive than the private car service I hired for our trip. Incidentally, this was cheaper than the one Casa Adela shared with me.
The night of my birthday we did not want to be in a restaurant so I hired the private chef offered by Casa Adela. Although she was a delight, the food was average at best. To be clear, the night was magical and I would not do it any other way because being in our own space that night was PERFECT but my entire group was very underwhelmed with dinner. Elena, the concierge, helped my family with flowers and balloons which was very sweet and thoughtful.
Breakfast was lovely every day and included a variety of things including fresh juice, fresh fruit, yogurt and granola (everyone loved the granola!) and the usual .. eggs, quesadillas, beans, etc. It was great to have that every morning. I also hired the cook to make us meals at the house and those were the traditionally Mexican fare, which were also very nice.
We had some cool/rainy weather and I asked for the pool to be heated ($158/day) three days but honestly, it did not heat to the 87 degrees they offered. That may have had something to do with the weather. Hard to say.
The staff is very nice and the process of coordinating prior to arrival also involved great communication. Again, I cannot stress enough... the space and location are amazing!
