"Built in 1794 from native white volcanic rock, the colonial-era building that used to house Arequipa’s mint is now a national historic monument—and one of the most notable hotels in the city. The 41-room property sits in Arequipa’s historic center, just steps from the Santa Catalina Convent and only a few short blocks from the majestic Plaza de Armas. Its fourth-floor terrace looks out to the impressive Basilica Cathedral and beyond to the El Misti volcano. Thirty “Superior” rooms and eight suites are located in the newer wing, but for more space and considerably greater character, spring for one of the two senior suites—or even the “Imperial” suite—housed in the historic part of the building, where an extensive renovation in 2008 revealed original frescos and a chapel. All rooms include a free breakfast buffet, room service, and Wi-Fi."

Two nights there. Beautiful hotel set around the courtyard of a historic building, with guest rooms in a newer wing. The condition was good, everything clean and of adequate size. Air conditioning provided. We found the beds very comfortable. The bathroom was good as well, though not new.||The highlight was definitely the breakfast — a huge selection served in the lovely courtyard, excellent coffee, fantastic service, and even live music on weekends (at least on Saturday) morning. We could have stayed there for hours!||Very friendly staff and attentive service throughout.||The location is great — just a 10-minute walk to the Plaza de Armas or some of the city’s best restaurants, such as Chicha or ZigZag.||A clear recommendation.

We were well looked after during our 2 night stay there. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Our room was kept in immaculate shape and the breakfasts had a good selection of hot and cold items, pastries and excellent coffee!

I was only here for one night but had a good stay. The hotel has a lot of character in the communal areas with the rooms at the back mostly modern. Due to a mix-up on the hotel’s part, I was kindly upgraded to junior suite which was very spacious and comfortable. Had all the amenities (kettle, hair dryer, mini bar, iron etc). Bed was huge, bathroom also very spacious. Black out blinds were great. Breakfast was good, with some hot dishes, including eggs, grilled vegetables and (fried chicken :)) lots of fruits, juices etc. And a good coffee machine. Staff were friendly and helpful. Location is fantastic, close to the main square and right next to the Santa Catalina Monastery (main sight of Arequipa). Checkout is 12:00 which is nice in comparison to other hotels in Peru with 9/10am checkout times! Bathroom shower door didn’t close properly but otherwise no complaints!

Awesome hotel, the building is a historic landmark. Service is exceptional, you can really feel people like to work here. The hotel manager Pedro was pleasant to talk to and very polite, we will come back 100%.

This is the best of all Casa Andina hotels we have stayed in Peru. Excellent location, impeccable service and very specious. All pictures I uploaded are from the interior. The buffet has a big choice of food. The hotel is located in an old mint factory established in 1794. The hotel has renovated the place with style preserving the ambiance of 18th century.

went there recently with family and stayed over a few days. there's hot water in the reception area with plenty of tea options including coca leaves in case you struggle with altitude (2300 m affects some people already) or have a trip planned for higher altitude places like in the nearby mountains. the 'lobby' and the breakfast (sometimes tea 'room' are in the open, the lobby is partially covered while the breakfast patio is totally outdoors, the architecture is *chefs kiss* as it was apparently the house of a colonial clerk/nobleman. there's plenty of sunlight and fresh air from the mountains and if it's too cold, there are heaters placed between tables. the internet/business center is equipped with a pc and the wifi is fast. the rooms are located in different 'blocks' depending on the sort, ours were in the same 'cubicle' and only heard people if they were being extra loud at the aisles. the bed was extra comfortable and there was a tub which suited well after a full day out and even more after hiking in the mountains. the main and only criticism I can come up with is that they don't refill the juice at breakfast despite there being over an hour left of service and it runs out quite soon. if you want to have breakfast after 8:30 you won't likely find any juice left of any sort (and you'd have to request, which can take up some time).|the staff was kind and amiable throughout the stay, often stricking up conversation (don't know if just with us because we are spanish speakers or if they do it with non spanish speakers too) and recommending stuff. overall a great experience.
