Casa Bertagni

My husband I stayed here for 6 nights the en of July and I cannot say enough nice things about this place. Martin and Roberta were both wonderful hosts and were so responsive and helpful. They gave us great advise on things to do and places to eat, as well as possibly places to avoid. They helped us make reservations and showed us a bunch of places that are fun to check out. The guesthouse itself is so beautiful and fun, very clean and quiet, the room was comfortable. We didn't hang out in the common areas because we were gone so much but the living room seemed very cozy and welcoming. The breakfasts each morning were also so good, very fresh and cappuccinos were perfect. We plan to come back to bologna next year and would absolutely stay here again.

The staff, especially Roberta, was especially accommodating. She made hotel reservations for us, helped us with directions and made our stay relaxing and fun. My husband mentioned wanting a Coke and she had four placed in our room fridge. Our room was clean, attractive & comfortable. The hotel is in walking distance of restaurants, tours& museums. We highly recommend!

Casa Bertagni is a beautiful hotel - quirky and comfortable. The staff couldn’t have been more friendly or more helpful. The room was air conditioned, clean and delightfully decorated. Breakfast was delicious- fresh and beautifully presented. It was about a 15 minute walk from the very centre - perfect for exploring the network of beautiful little roads so typical of Bologna.

I have been to Italy eight times in forty years and stayed in many wonderful hotels. But none equals Casa Bertagni. It is an oasis of comfort and hospitality in the middle of magnificent Bologna. The decor is stylish and classic; breakfast is fresh and delicious; and the staff is unfailingly gracious, attentive, and sincere. Roberta's welcome was the warmest we received on our 2-week tour of the region. Coming "home" each night to the scent of jasmine in the courtyard was a delight. I cannot express how much I loved this hotel and the people who run it, except to say Grazie mille!

Look no further! If you are planning a trip to Bologna, this is the place to stay. It is truly like a home away from home. Situated in a quiet area, with walking distance to all that Bologna has to offer, it is the perfect spot with beautiful rooms and lounge areas. The staff is absolutely amazing! So much hospitality and as their guest, they make you feel like family. The breakfast is incredible with lots to choose from and different dishes/pastries every day. If we ever go back to Bologna, we will stay here again and again.

We are so happy we spent the weekend here. Casa Bertagni is more of a bed and breakfast than a hotel, but has the nice amenities of a hotel. Our room was nice, the bed and pillows were comfy and Roberta, who checked us in but did so much more, was kind and knowledgeable. Martin helped us with dinner reservations, but unfortunately our paths didn’t cross. Guido, the owner and host, is a star in the kitchen and created amazing breakfasts for us every morning. Really amazing! The house has a beautiful library and we spent down time here rather than in our room. It was located on a quiet street but was an easy walk to the central area, I would recommend Casa Bertagni to anyone spending time in Bologna.

Beautiful place, felt like being in someone's lovely home. Staff were warm and friendly and super helpful and efficient. Excellent breakfast in delightful dining room. Location is great, and even though it's in the University district it wasn't noisy. Felt very safe even at night returning from restaurants on my own. Room was nicely decorated, bed was super comfortable and bathroom had a good shower, and the nice fluffy bath robe was a bonus!|This is a gem of a place and I won't hesitate to stay here on my next visit. Couldn't fault it and highly recommend.

We had an amazing four-night stay at Casa Bertagni. This was our first-ever trip to Bologna and I can’t imagine we could have picked a better place to stay. The hotel is gorgeous, with a fascinating history and some amazing furniture. It’s brilliantly positioned to see the best of the City centre and yet is in a quiet street. We will definitely stay again when revisiting Bologna.

Casa Bertagni is a villa/mansion turned into a guest house. It is run by an Italian couple. It's like a luxurious bed and breakfast. It is located in a quiet part of the city but is within an easy walking distance from the main square, Piazza Maggiore. While I don't think it's in a bad neighborhood, the front gate is always locked and the hallway doors are also lock around the clock. The decor is eclectic (or even funky). See my photos. You will be the judge. It's an old building but is clean and well maintained. Our room was clean and spacious. Lots of storing space and a high ceiling. The AC worked great, too. The breakfast was one of the highlights. Both the quality and the selection are excellent. The photos speak for themselves. If I go back to Bologna, I will definitely stay here. Guido and his staff make it look so easy. If it was so easy, every hostelry would have incredible design, gracious service, amazing breakfasts, and a superb location. My wife and I usually stay in apartments utilizing multiple services for our reservations. Casa Bertagni showed me what I was missing. Our room was large, with an amazingly comfortable bed, and easy to regulate heat/AC. The bathroom had a double head rain shower and the nicest, thick towels. Viscount Guido, an architect by trade and nature, is Philippe Starck, Kelly Wearstler, Marcel Wanders, Timothy Corrigan etc. wrapped up in one package, His designs at Casa Bertagni are whimsical and beautiful. There was so much to look at, and travelers feel enveloped in luxury. The staff is kind, friendly, warm and ridiculously accommodating. This has to be the very best place to stay in Bologna. I would like to clone Casa Bertagni.
