My wife and I cannot recommend this place enough. It is a beautiful hotel with amazing rooms and an even better breakfast. The hotel is in a perfect location where you can walk to any restaurant or activity in Positano while being far enough removed that you get peace and quiet in your room or on their terrace. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Sky, one of the employees there, gave us a warm welcome and was very helpful in explaining the hotel and the area. The breakfast is BY FAR the best breakfast we had during our entire honeymoon. It was an incredible experience and we will absolutely be returning.

Travelling with our 16 year old daughter we booked the 2 bedroom apartments which was just beautiful. Yes there are stairs, but if you come to Positano not expecting that you haven’t done any research. The breakfast each day was different and quality, the room was always spotless and we had one day where the Prosecco kept flowing in the private courtyard which they had on hand to resupply us. It’s in the centre of town and quick walk down to the beach. If it’s in your price bracket it’s very hard to fault it. All of the staff were sensational too

This hotel is absolutely perfect! From the amazing staff—Aleccio, Luca1, Lucca2, Sky, and everyone else—to the incredible and delicious breakfast spread, everything exceeded our expectations. The location is ideal for exploring the Amalfi Coast, and the team truly went above and beyond to make our stay special. Thank you all for making our vacation unforgettable. If you’re visiting the Amalfi Coast, make sure to stay here!

September 2024||With only 8 guestrooms to choose from, Casa Buonocore is wonderfully charming and intimate. We stayed in the Superior room with panoramic terrace that offered picture-postcard views of Positano and the sea – it was absolutely stunning in every way; a dream come true. ||The location is perfect! Staff are lovely! Attention to detail is extraordinary! Breakfast is like nothing we’ve experienced on our travels! … and the praises go on and on! Simply, a rare find: refined, elegant, and welcoming – plus, it is owned and operated by the very family whose family have lived for 200 years! ||Fantastic dining recommendations – La Guarracino in particular, was perfect for us. Romantic walk to reach it, away from the main area and crowds, stunning location.||Hand on heart, Casa Buonocore is one of our favourite stays anywhere, ever.||Read on for tips on how to get to CB from the port (to avoid a pile of stairs) and on the iconic Path of the Gods hike.||Tip on stairs – we read in advance that there are 70 stairs to reach the property … no problem, even with our luggage, we thought! … what we missed was that these 70 stairs begin only from the main road at the base of the property! If arriving by ferry, instead of leading you along the ring-road, Google Maps will take you up from the port through various stairwells before connecting you with the main road at the base of Casa Buonocore– in fact, right up through one of the most photographed-from spots in Positano, which is at the base of CB and among throngs of people! A little more challenging with our carry-on only luggage than anticipated! Highly recommend walking up the road instead so you can wheel your luggage rather than carry it!||Tips on hiking the Sentiero degli Dei (Path of the Gods) clifftop trail:||• It takes about 1.5 hours just to get to the starting point: we took a ferry from Positano to Amalfi (25 minutes) and from there caught a bus to Bomerano (40 minutes + waiting time for the bus to depart). Buy the bus ticket when you arrive in Amalfi, not too far from the port and near to where the bus departs – don’t expect to find a shop that sells the tickets, instead, look for a guy in a yellow vest selling them nearby (hanging out on a sidewalk / kind of random) … be sure to have change with you and know what the tickets should cost as we were charged about 15 euros for 2 tickets that were worth more like 5. Ah well, live and learn. On arrival in Bomerano, you will walk about 10 minutes to reach the trailhead – be sure you know how to get to the starting point! Lucky for us a local was on the bus and showed us the way.||• The hike itself takes about 3 to 3.5 hours: from Bomerano to Nocelle is about 2 to 2.5 hours. Then, the +1,700 steps down from Nocelle to Positano is another 30 – 45 minutes (and definitely the most challenging part of the hike – despite being in good shape, our calves and achilles ached for days!). Once at the bottom of the stairs, it is another 15 minutes or so walk to Positano.||• What to bring: Gravol for the winding bus ride. A packable backpack with insulated bottles of cold water (~1 litre per person at a minimum), electrolyte tablets, hat, sunscreen, Band-Aids or moleskin (just in case a blister starts). ||• What to wear: quick-dry athletic wear and proper footwear (we both had trail or running-type shoes – no need for hiking specific gear in our minds, just something with good stability and traction).||While we’ve strayed from this being purely a hotel review, we figure some (lots?) of readers will at least be considering the hike so thought it worth writing about.||Jeri & Tim|Canada

Great view of Positano. Close to the busy part of Positano. Friendly staff. Nice room. But that is to be expected.|It sits too high up on the hill (literally 90 steep steps). Despite having read the reviews, we were unaware of this fact, and it is not mentioned on their website. My wife and I had six suitcases (about 23 kg each) as we had been on a working tour in North America and Italy and decided to take a stretch to the Amalfi Coast on a leisure trip. When I booked the room, I let the management know I was traveling heavily and would need assistance with my luggage. The receptionist greeted us by the curb and informed us that " porters " were available to carry our luggage up the stairs - to which we happily agreed. Upon reaching the summit, we were told that we had to pay 10€ per bag that was carried up. The rooms are not inexpensive by any standards, and the owner should pay for this service and not the guest. I would not stay there again. There are other similarly-priced hotels in Positano that are more up-to-par and have good service. If you don't mind walking up and down 90+ steps every time and if you travel light, this place might suit you fine.

Wow, where to start with Casa Buonocore. After booking our beautiful room with a terrace and view of the citrus grove on property, I received a very thorough welcome email from the owners and they were prompt to answer all of my pre-trip questions! When we arrived in Positano, we were advised to pay for a porter to bring our bags to the hotel. ||Once we arrived on property, we were greeted warmly with freshly squeezed lemonade juiced from lemons grown on property, a limoncello chocolate, and a comfortable seat on the couch in the reception area. Our bags arrived shortly after us and we were given a tour of the gorgeous property which included an outdoor dining terrace where we would enjoy an incredible included breakfast daily, an enclosed garden space with seating and cafe lights overhead, and free water and espresso/cappuccino stations available to guests 24/7. Our room itself was spotless and gorgeously designed, with included free drinks in the mini fridge and water in a large glass bottle which we were encouraged to refill as needed at the water station. The A/C was top notch (a big deal to find at a hotel here!) and the shower’s water pressure was the best we had during our 2 week trip. ||I could endlessly gush about how wonderful our stay at Casa Buoncore was, but I’d like to end by highlighting the absolutely incredible staff who made us feel warmly welcomed at every opportunity. They clearly care very much about their guesthouse and take a lot of pride in providing guests with the best experience. If you are traveling to the Amalfi Coast, I very highly recommend staying here!

Revisit after 7 years, and Casa Buonocore was as lovely as our first visit. A different room we chose, for a different view, a Mountain View. Sadly the weather was stormy & very wet, with thunderstorms, torrential rain & power cuts. Breakfast however was as lovely as we remembered, we preferred the beautiful crockery of our first visit and breakfast on the terrace then each morning. Loved the phone charger in the bedroom, a new addition, the complimentary drinks in the room fridge each day, much welcomed. And the complimentary refillable sparkling water.. excellent. A welcome powerful hot shower, although did not drain so well, and similar with the sink in the bathroom. One to address we think. Rooms cleaned beautifully each day with clean towels & bath mat. The staff were much more engaging this second visit. A warm welcome each morning from the breakfast ladies & gent. And your homemade cakes are just wonderful 😋 🤎
