Hotel Casa Chameleon Mal Pais - is a lovely boutique hotel with 10 bungalows all well pointed and comfortable. Each bungalow has it's own pool and you can hear the ocean (and see in most units) from your balcony. The land is lush and there is a lot of life in the jungle - you could hear the Howler Monkeys for miles, we had visits from White Faced Monkeys (pictured), Toucans and even a very large kinkajou in the trees afar. The staff was welcoming and courteous from the moment we arrived, addressing us by name and greeting us with a welcome drink (non-alcoholic and refreshing!). Estaban is super friendly and professional, as is the rest of the staff. We were pleasantly surprised to learn that breakfast (sans cappuccinos) was complimentary.|The menu, for all meals, is limited, however, everything we ate was delicious!|Our only hiccup was one of our bungalows was without hot water and although the resort offered to move the couple we were 5 days into our trip and it was decided the move was not convenient. The hotel compensated us instead, with a very lovely. meal on our last night at the property.|This resort it for relaxing and resetting. ||The beaches in the area are not the best for swimming, however, the Secret Beach has a small sandy spot you can enter the ocean. There are tide pools when it's low tide and that is fun to experience.||The nights are so dark you can get a great view of the Milky Way.|||One note for anyone traveling in/out of Cobano Airport (ACO), ensure you are AT the airport a minimum 1-hour before your departure. While many locals will say 30 minutes is plenty of time (because the airport is so small), you may find yourself in a bind with the airline should you decide to only go 30 minutes in advance. Heed this warning so the challenges do not over-shadow your visit to Casa Chameleon).|Do NOT fly Sansa Airlines but choose Green Air instead.
