Casa Colleverde, Castelnuovo Magra, Liguria, Italy - Explore & Book

"You might find yourself complaining about the steep, winding drive up to Casa Colleverde, but as soon as you reach your destination and gaze at the magnificent vista from the infinity pool, you’ll realise the journey was entirely worth it. After all, no view as good as this comes without a climb. Perched outside the tiny village of Castelnuovo Magra in the wooded Colline del Sole, this 1950s house has been completely redesigned to take full advantage of its setting. The building is dominated by glass walls and twin-aspect balconies looking out over the hills to the sea, and on a clear day you can see as far as Corsica. The feel is tranquil and intimate - there are only 3 suites, each large and stylish with sleek Italian furniture and a private terrace. You’ll also be treated to knockout breakfasts from welcoming host Lisa, and an outdoor chill-out zone where you can sprawl out with a glass of local wine. As for the location, it’s perfect for exploring: head north to Portofino and the famous Unesco-listed villages of the Cinque Terre, or south to Pisa, Lucca and the rolling hills of Tuscany. Highs A handy base for Liguria and northern Tuscany, yet well away from the crowds who flock to both regions in summerGood value for the area, particularly given the high level of style and service and the spacious suitesA gorgeous infinity pool flanked by a chill-out zone with bean bags and loungers Lisa is a wonderful host, with a mine of knowledge about the areaDid we mention the view? Lows No children under 12 unless you take the whole place; this is a peaceful, grown-up retreat No daily lunches or dinners, though light meals can be arranged on requestYou’ll need a car to explore, and to venture out for food in the eveningsThe road up is steep, bumpy and very twisty" - Abi Dare

We were lucky enough to stay with Manuela – and let me just say: she is the best host you could ever imagine! She is incredibly warm, open-hearted, and helpful. Whether it’s giving recommendations for day trips, suggesting great restaurants, or even making a reservation for you – Manuela takes care of everything with genuine kindness and effort. The property itself is an absolute dream. The view over the landscape and out to the sea is breathtaking. The pool is beautiful, and the peace and quiet here is simply priceless. With only three rooms in total, it feels like you have your own private paradise – perfect for relaxing and truly unwinding. The breakfast deserves a special mention: it’s incredibly varied, fresh, and prepared with so much love. Every morning was a highlight! We felt completely at home and will definitely be coming back. The combination of service, tranquility, the stunning setting, and such a dedicated host is truly one of a kind. Admittedly, the road to get there is a bit of a challenge – but it’s absolutely worth it. Thank you, dear Manuela, for everything – we’re already looking forward to next time!

Highly recommended! I recently stayed at this property with my sister over the Easter holiday in April. We were in Italy celebrating my sister’s birthday and arrived at Casa Colleverde after being in Rome and Florence so we looking for a serene experience and that’s what we got and so much more. We absolutely loved the stay at this property - the location, scenery, pool were amazing! But what elevated the experience for us was the hospitality received from Lisa and her family. They went above and beyond to ensure that we were comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. We appreciated all of the small touches (breakfast, a slice of Italian Easter cake and personally packed lunch for our train ride to Milan) that made this place one of a kind. ||Looking forward to going back during the Summer Season!

This was our third time staying at this lovely B & B. The views from the Casa are unforgettable. The rooms have comfy sitting areas, great bathroom and shower, and a couple nice additions that are appreciated....sound system, flat screen TV. The additional areas for relaxation are beautiful. The property is maintained to a meticulous degree. Breakfasts are continental, or made to order. The infinity pool is beautifully situated. Most of all, the hosts are accommodating, helpful, warm, and go out if their way to be sure you have everything you need. This is also a place in reasonable distance from the Cinque Terre, Lucca, Pisa, Genoa, and the wonderful countryside. We look forward to our next stay

What an incredible location. It is perched on top of a hill with amazing views. The drive up there is an experience in itself. As well as being a great location our room was lovely and large. We walked straight out onto the patio next to the infinity pool. What a view to wake up to. The other thing that made it fantastic was Lisa and the family. Lisa put in alot of effort to make our stay very special. On the first night when we arrived late, Lisa was good enough to prepare a Caprese which made us feel very welcome and we knew almost immediately that we had come to a special place. The views, the rooms, the pool, the breakfasts and the hospitality were all fantastic.

Even though I know that part of Italy quite well I never knew what was waiting for us at the end of the road: a Jewel! What a luxorious place; everything was just perfect - the house itself & outside areas, rooms, bathroom, shower, decor, pool, breakfast, owners...and the View. Just Breathtaking.|And I loved the music system! |Unfortunately this time we were able to stay only 1 night, but already planning to come back. A great place for a shorter or longer stay, less than an hour from Pisa airport - you don't want to leave, but if you want to explore Versilia coast, Massa-Carrara, Pietrasanta, Lucca, Cinque Terre, Luningiana etc are nearby. |Highly recommended!!!!

An ideal place to stay and relax and unwind in the local surroundings with Cinque Terre a short drive away. Hosts Matteo and Manuela make sure you are welcome and well catered for with excellent breakfast to start the day. The accommodation is maintained to an extremely high standard with personal touches incorporated throughout. A fabulous location with an amazing view. Highly recommended. All in all, a fantastic trip. See you soon.

This is the most beautiful property my wife and I have ever visited. We were supposed to stay for two nights, fell in love instantly with our hosts and their home, and promptly cancelled the rest of our plans to stay for 6 nights. (I’m certain the extra nights were available only because we were visiting in mid-April). We'll be going back often and we can't recommend Casa Colleverde highly enough. Lisa, her adult children, Martina and Mateo, and everyone else who pitched in to make us feel welcome and special are wonderful people. They have an astute sense of balancing being good hosts and giving our family space, which can be tricky with B&Bs. Casa Colleverde is not their main residence so the house feels like it's your own. Their family has lived in the town for several generations so, if you choose, they’ll point you in the right direction to make you feel like a local during your stay. As you can see from the photos, this is a stunning location overlooking the Italian Riviera with great hiking, many great local restaurants (we recommend “Armanda” in Castelnuovo Magra—get the Lettuce en broddo), and nearby attractions: Cinque Terre, Pisa, Florence (about a 2 hour drive), wine tasting at small local vineyards (“Terra della Luna”, Carrara quarries where Michelangelo sourced his marble... All that said, it was the photos of the infinity pool that drew us into booking the reservation; we’re so thankful for that photo—it does not disappoint. You’re in for a treat.

We we’re lucky enough to spend 2 wonderful nights there . Upon arrival we were greeted by the home owners who had ordered pizza’s for all the guest to enjoy . The rooms were very nice and clean and had all the amenities a couple could enjoy .the view from the top terrace is spectacular at any time of day but the sunset is really something unforgettable . I recommend staying at casa colle verde and give it a 5 star review !!
