Casa da Estefanea

We stayed at Casa da Estefanea for almost a week with many of our family members, all of whom came to Sintra for our son's wedding. We were beyond satisfied with our stay. The rooms and atmosphere were fantastic, as was the location. It is located outside of the main tourist areas, so it was peaceful. The breakfasts were fantastic, and they provided free Port wine each night in the eating/gathering area. Best of all was the service we received from Douglas, the manager, and the rest of the staff. We had numerous logistical issues to address concerning the wedding, and Douglas was fantastic. He was patient, and a wealth of knowlege concerning options to address our issues. We cannot say enough nice things about him. His response to every question or request was positive, and he made things work. Whatever he is paid is not enough. He made our stay perfect. You cannot go wrong staying at Casa da Estefanea.

We had a great one night experience at the Casa de Estephanea. It is well- located in the center of Sintra, adjacent to the mercado. We arrived well before check- in time and they provided a locker for our luggage. We toured the sitting room and the staff told us that our room was ready and assisted in moving our luggage to our room. The place is spotless clean, very comfortable and surprisingly quiet considering the building is adjacent to a busy street. There are lovely and private patios adjacent to the building as well. We dined on the coast- which was a 20- minute Uber but worth it. Our room and bed were comfortable and we slept well. Our breakfast was good with a wide variety of choices. Our host was very pleasant and helpful with details. I thought it was an excellent value as a place to stay while touring Sintra. Highly Recommend!

The rooms are spotless and beautifully appointed, offering everything you need for a comfortable stay. The common area downstairs is perfect for enjoying their delicious breakfasts, a glass of wine or port, light snacks, or simply gathering with friends. The staff are wonderfully attentive—special thanks to Douglas for his exceptional help! And you couldn’t ask for a better location—right in the heart of Sintra, close to everything.

We all loved our stay here. Even though it is right on a main street it was very quiet. The rooms are lovely. Beds and pillows amazingly comfortable. Great shower. The breakfast was great and the available drinks and snacks also great. Washer, dryer, iron and ironing board available for use. (The dryer belt might be slipping- makes a terrible noise periodically). Fridge in each room. A different outdoor seating areas. A locker room to leave your luggage if needed.

Lovely hotel in the heart of Sintra. We had two rooms – one with a very large king bed and one with twin beds for our adult kids. The hotel is beautifully decorated with stylish touches. Each room had strong A/C, comfortable showers, and there’s a cozy common area where afternoon treats, wine, coffee, and tea are served. Breakfast was very good, everything we wanted!

Rarely does a guest house host show the care and concern for his patrons as Douglas did for us during our stay here. After learning we were celebrating both my wife's birthday, retirement and our 40th anniversary, Douglas' warmth and kindness shown through as he sat down with us after breakfast for almost an hour and told us his priority was for us to have an incredible experience in Sintra and at Casa Da Estefanea. His thoughtfulness and concern for how we felt about our experience was so remarkable, but genuine. He made wonderful suggestions, answered all our questions, and checked in with us throughout our stay. The rooms are exceptionally clean and comfortable. Bedding and pillows a delight. The continental breakfast is just wonderful and has such a delicious variety of offerings. The laundry area was super clean and free to use. Each evening the common area offered Port wine, beer, coffee, and snacks. Even the music was soothing and relaxing. The location is a little off the main Sintra area, but easily walkable to shops and restaurants. Just a wonderful place to re-charge after full days of sightseeing. Let Douglas celebrate you. You'll be glad you did.

Even though there is no reception they have every single step and info clear enough. The place is absolutely beautiful and cozy. Arriving from train station is not easy with luggage but Uber is affordable. Would definitely recommend! Also the have wine and pastry for you to enjoy. Quiet place and beds are like sleeping in soft cotton

One of the best hotels we've stayed at in Portugal so far. The location is close enough to the city that you can walk just about everywhere but not so close for it to be noisy and crowded. The rooms were spotless & the robes, hats, dental kits & colouring book were such a nice touch. There is no formal check in but we were supplied with our entry codes for the main gate & our room well in advance so getting into the room was no problem at all. The telescope on the balcony of the upper rooms is such a nice touch as it allows you to see the moorish castle & a few other sights if you're lucky. We thoroughly enjoyed the petite breakfast supplied every morning and of course a glass of port and some snacks in the afternoon/evening. The lounge where the breakfast & port tastings is such a sweet place to relax for a moment, or maybe even make friends with other travellers & look through the various cook books & travel guides. I cannot recommend Casa da Estefanía enough!
