Casa de Alba Hotel Boutique (Cartagena, Colombia) 3 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"In the last couple of decades Colombia has done a great deal to shed its difficult reputation, and tourism is booming once again — with perhaps no destination seeing more of a benefit than the colonial city of Cartagena. The improvements, at least as far as Tablet is concerned, come not in the form of large-scale development and an influx of mass tourism, but in a new openness to the kind of well-heeled international audience that can support something a bit more individual: an intimate, elegantly styled colonial mansion, transformed into the luxe seven-room Casa de Alba Boutique Hotel." - Tablet Hotels

My husband and I visited in celebration of his birthday. I was excited about staying at this historic mansion. The hotel is beautiful, stately, and has so much character. The staff are nice and they tried to make sure we were comfortable. I was even able to arrange to have the room decorated for my husband’s birthday prior to our arrival. Pablo did a great job of making sure every detail was taken care of and I’m very appreciative of that. BUT, if you’re planning to stay here, keep in mind that the building is quite old. Upon entering the building, it’s hot and humid, the air conditioning works but it takes a while for the room to cool, AND to top it off, our room had NO hot water. I don’t know about you but one thing I absolutely CANNOT compromise on when I travel is a hot shower. I wasn’t able to take one at all during our stay and it was extremely frustrating. When we told the concierge about the hot water he told us that the water does get hot but that we could not take a 20 minute shower. NOTE that the water didn’t even stay hot for 5 minutes, let alone 20. We both were forced to shower in cold water. Unfortunately when something that’s a deal breaker occurs, it tends to overshadow the good stuff. I would not stay here again.

A real hidden gem right in the heart of the old city walls. When you arrive at this wonderful hotel you feel like you have stepped back in time. The original features and interior design are both stunning. The staff are so lovely and go above and beyond to make you feel at home, especially Leyla and Milton who were both truly exceptional. I had an amazing time at Casa de Alba and would definitely return in a heartbeat.

Casa de Alba was an absolute pleasure. It was centrally located and offered a tranquility to balance out the liveliness of Cartagena. Vanessa and the rest of the team was a delight and appreciated her hospitality and attention to detail. They made my stay so wonderful from recommendations, assisting with reservations and any questions I had along the way. ||The property is stunning and when I return to Cartagena I will gladly return to Casa De Alba.

We felt as if we were magically transported the moment you walked through the doors. ||The staff was helpful, the breakfast was delightful and fresh everyday, the rooms were very clean with comfortable beds, little noise and air conditioning. We also enjoyed relaxing at the pool after a long day of walking around. ||Highly highly recommend!!

Our family trip to Cartagena was nothing short of magical, and staying at Casa de Alba played a huge role in making it an unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warm smiles and genuine hospitality that set the tone for our entire stay. The boutique hotel’s charm is undeniable, with beautifully decorated rooms that blend modern comfort with traditional Colombian style. It was the perfect home base for our family, providing not just a place to sleep but a cozy retreat to unwind after our daily adventures. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate our needs. They arranged a an amazing private tour for us that kept our children engaged. The hotel also can organize several excursions and restaurant reservations for you which is a huge plus. Cartagena is rich in culture and history, and Casa de Alba is ideally located for exploring everything the city has to offer. We loved wandering through the vibrant streets, visiting nearby attractions, and soaking in the local culture. Casa de Alba also knows how to cater to families. The breakfast each morning was a delicious spread, with something for everyone, from fresh fruits to local delicacies. The kids loved starting their days with a am amazing meal before we set out on our adventures. We loved ending our days in the gorgeous pool with greenery all around us. In short, Casa de Alba is a gem in Cartagena and the perfect choice for families looking to create lasting memories. We left with our hearts full and our minds already dreaming of our next visit.

Our stay at Casa de Alba Boutique Hotel this past July was nothing short of magical. From the moment we arrived (two adults and two teenage boys), we were taken by the charm of the place — a beautifully restored colonial home tucked right in the heart of Cartagena’s walled city. You literally step outside and you're surrounded by history, color, music, and life. The location couldn’t be more perfect. The hotel itself is stunning. The pool in the central courtyard was the perfect way to cool off after a day of exploring, and the rooftop terrace was wonderful. Everything was spotless, comfortable, and beautifully maintained. One of the highlights of our mornings was breakfast — fresh, local, and absolutely delicious. Every day we were served a mix of tropical fruits, fresh juices, warm breads, and hot dishes made to order. It wasn’t just tasty — it was clearly made with care. But what really made our stay unforgettable was the staff. Laura, Christian, Antonio, and Carlos went above and beyond to make us feel at home. They were warm, attentive, and genuinely kind — offering great recommendations, arranging transport and reservations, and checking in to make sure everything was just right. You can tell they truly care about the guests and take pride in what they do. We can't wait to come back!
