Casa de'Coronari (Rome, Lazio) 50 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Lacking anything analogous to Uptown vs. Downtown, or a Right or Left Bank, Roman hotels are forced to describe their locations in slightly more granular detail. In the case of Casa de’Coronari, a medieval building converted into a modern six-suite hotel, it’s “close to the Pantheon,” or “a two-minute walk from Piazza Navona.” Within walking distance of quite a lot of what’s worth seeing, in other words. And on a charming cobblestoned street, to boot: far better than being on the busy plaza itself." - Tablet Hotels

We stayed at Casa Coronari in May. Overall, we give it a 2.5/5 given the location is 5/5 but value for money is 2/5.||Let me start by saying, the location was phenomenal, great for sight seeing and a really cute street. The man who worked the front desk was also very kind. However, we were very disappointed with our stay as the hotel was not as advertised and we had wished we picked a different hotel.||To start, the rooms claim to have a “courtyard garden view”. There was no such garden courtyard. See the picture below for the view from the room. It provided no natural light into the room, and the view was really ugly so we kept the windows closed.||On top of this, one of the main lights in our room was broken and it flickered and made a humming noise.||We were really disappointed, as we were choosing between Casa de Coronari and other hotels in the area for the same price, and we wished we had chosen something else. We are not particularly picky, (we have stayed in hostels before) so it’s not that the quality was unacceptable, it’s that it was not as advertised and we felt we had paid for a certain experience and did not receive what was advertised.||After our first night, we expressed our disappointment and asked if we could please be moved to another room, or if they could cancel our reservation so we could switch hotels, or if they could discount the price we paid (again, given we paid for something we did not receive). They only offered switching us for the last night, due to availability, which at that point was more of a hassle for us. They said no to cancelling our reservation so we could find somewhere new, or providing a discount. Nonetheless on our last day we went to see the new room to see if we would prefer, but it was on the top floor so had very low ceilings / didn’t have a shower, which wouldn’t work for us as we are tall. ||Lastly, the set up of the room was a little inconvenient. When you walk into the room, the bathroom is immediately on the right side, and with see through walls, so you could see the toilet / when someone was in the bathroom which was not great and gave no privacy. Also, the sink was tiny with a huge faucet in the middle so you can’t wash your face in the sink. The hotel was perfectly clean which was more important to us then the layout.

This boutique hotel was stunning inside. Our room was updated, modern, extremely clean with a beautiful view outside. Location is 10/10. Easy 30 minute walk to the Vatican and colosseum. Less than ten minutes to piazza navona and pantheon. The man working at the front desk was so welcoming and friendly. He provided great dinner recommendations as well. Had some loud construction noise early in the morning, the day we checked out, but that is not the hotels fault at all. Would absolutely recommend and will return again.

This is a wonderful hotel in the heart of old Rome. The owners Beniamino and Patrizia were so gracious and were wonderful hosts. The staff at the hotel is also very friendly and helpful. The hotel is steps from Piazza Navona and no more than a five minute walk to the Pantheon. Their beds are extremely comfortable, and the rooms are spacious for being in a European city center. We look forward to staying at Casa de Corinari again!

I came upon this Boutique Hotel on my search of hotels in Roma, and was skeptical at first. When we arrived I was greeted by Edward (Staff). He checked us in and brought our luggage up to the 3rd floor to our room. Room was bit small, but I was expecting that, we are in Roma...I cant say how great the staff was at this place. I met Patrizia (Owner) and her Daughter a few times. They were both very welcoming and helpful to all our needs. The location is great! We can wait to stay here again this Summer 2024...

The location is brilliant. Close to many restaurants and Piazza Navona. The hotel has a cool decor and it feels like you are back in the ages. The hotel is a little dark, but that adds to the experience. There is no lift, but the staff go above and beyond to help. The mini fridge is stocked and its complimentary. The rooms are comfy and the bed was great. I want to say again how wonderful the staff are, when it was raining they were there with umbrellas for us. A great place to stay.

The Location is great; |Around the corner from Piazza Navona, a few minutes stroll along it's lovely road to Castel Sant'Angelo. Only a few minutes in different directions to The Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, The Vatican. This is the old part of Rome I love to stay in, none of the modern world is visible in the buildings, every corner not walked down & door not looked in is something beautiful missed in this part of town. |There are so many cafe's, restaurants & everything in between on this road without even having to leave it but if you do, within 1 minute you could be at another 50 lovely places to eat & drink - including a McDonald's if you want to pay more for less. |Taxi's are literally 30 seconds away from the front door - €50 for a taxi to the airport btw. ||The Rooms are very comfortable; |Some reviews here are stressing how it's not a hotel or not this or not that. For starters it doesn't say it's a hotel. It's a 600 year old building built with no regard for the future's hotel needs. |The very first impression of a location without a flashing neon light etc is great, a big old world door, everything about the first glance takes you back & helps you get immersed in this part of town. |The owners have done a GREAT job maximising the space available in the rooms, every box is ticked & the bed was so very comfortable at the end of a long day exploring. It's a space for couples to stay & that comes across in the room's design. |If you're staying in Rome it's not to spend time in a room it's to be out & about exploring, discovering & making great memories. This place goes well beyond what I'd want or need to provide a good starting point each morning & a comfortable place to get some rest each night. We had a great sleep every night! |Comments about the view, we were on the side of the building with a 'bad view'. Didn't bother us one bit, why, because you don't go to Rome to sit in your room looking out a window. |Comments about the dimly lit stairs, yes, it's dark & the steps are old so not flat & even but for me that very much adds to the aesthetic they're going for, very comfortable & modern rooms with old world staircase & halls, a contrast we enjoyed. No lift could well be a fair issue for some but it's 3 floors only, so you're not hiking up a skyscraper. ||The staff are lovely; |Every interaction was lovely, super super helpful & informative. Almost got the impression they'd give you the shirt off their back. Any minor issue with the room & they had it sorted straight away & everything always came with a smile. Something that shouldn't be taken for granted nowadays. Every single time we were leaving the door was opened for us with well wishes for the day. ||The services are top notch; |Not only was the room fridge stocked with complimentary beers, wines, soft drinks, water, bread, spread, cereal, milk & coffees at check in, it was topped up each day when the rooms were cleaned & they were cleaned very well, including fresh towels daily. Small things such as noticing we drank all of X so the next day we had more X stocked into the fridge than when we checked in. ||Would we stay again; |Obviously we would stay here again. My wife is usually harder to please than me for this sort of thing & she was even more impressed than I was. |Not only would we stay again, I'm confident that we WILL stay again! ||Other stuff; |1. Before arriving they were very quick to reply with any queries via the booking site's app so if you want a room with less stairs to walk up send them a msg. |2. As well as the already mentioned items stocked in the room, if you call reception in the morning to ask they would come straight up with a warm breakfast along the lines of a cornetti, croissant, doughnut etc. |3. We thought this was funny, the shower in our room had a glass wall that your roommate or someone walking into the room from the hall could see you through, this is why it's a room for a couple & for your peace of mind hang the "do not disturb" sign outside your door. When leaving one day the staff asked if they could clean the room because they noticed the sign earlier, so that was a good call to hang it on the handle haha.

The location is great. On a lively street with many shops, restaurants, near a taxi stand and minutes from Piazza Navona.||This is NOT a hotel. There are 6 rooms in a building. There is no name identification outside the building and you have to use a keypad to get it. Even the listings on the keypad do not include the name of the venue, only listings of "Camera 1," Camera 2," etc.||The stairway is VERY dark. It's impossible to see the steps without a flashlight. The photos of the steps are deceptive. In addition, because it's an old building, the steps are stone and uneven, so you have to be very cautious. We suggested they install a light that goes on when someone approaches the stairs, but they said they couldn't. (Don't batteries work in Rome?)||The room is small, as are many rooms in European capitals, but they eliminated privacy in exchange for making the room appear larger. The shower is encased in glass, BUT when you look through the shower, the toilet is on the other side. So make sure that if you're sharing the room that you're OK with that.||The owner, Patrizia, claims that the "front desk" is staffer from 8AM to 7PM. Not true. There were many times (we stayed there 10 days) when no one was available. Patrizia said to call "48" to reach someone, but that only rings at the front desk and if no is there, then ?????||We were told we'd have a courtyard view. The window opens to another stone building., just feet away from our room.||Why didn't we move? The room had been paid for and I read comments that when people complain to Patrizia, she blames them. So it wasn't worth the time or effort. It was most important for us to enjoy all our time in Rome. And, as stated, it was a great location.||What else was good? The shower, free water daily, rack for hanging clothes along with shelves.||They didn't have any TV channels in English. I asked about them and they said they would check into this. As we were leaving the hotel, they said they received the boxes for connections to English channels - 10 days later.

The staff was wonderful! They were very communicative and attentive and always available. The location was amazing, an adorable little street and so much on it, it was an ideal location. ||||The property however was a bit of a bummer to me. I stayed here being close to a wedding venue and the area I needed to be in. It looks just like the pictures but more worn, there are marks on the walls and the rooms just feel very cold. The sink was the first thing I saw when I entered my room and there was no where to really put things. The hotel feels more like an apartment building that was renovated to hotel rooms. There are no amenities... outside of coffee/tea/croissant in the morning and wifi. There is no bar, no restaurant... and no elevator, this is a walk up. So, if you are looking for something more like a self-sufficient airbnb with a mini-fridge and minimalism, this is for you. But if you like a bit more posh and amenities, this is not. In the end it was a fine stay but I definitely wish I had done a tad more research before I arrived.

Yelp
First, the location is perfect, maybe a 3 minute walk from Piazza Navona. If you haven't been to Rome before, you want to stay as close to Piazza Navona as possible. If you have been to Rome before, you already know this. Second, the room was very nice (and large), with modern amenities, and very, very clean. If you're a light sleeper, you might want to specify a room in the rear, but my room faced Via dei Coronari on the 2nd floor (which Italians would call the 1st floor) and it was quiet after about 11 or 11:30 every night (and we were there for 15 nights). Third, the entire staff was friendly and helpful. Patrizia, the owner, made quite a few reservations for us and generally went out of her way to be as helpful as possible.

Yelp
We recently spent 9 nights at Casa de Coronari during the Ryder Cup in Rome. We were thoroughly impressed with our room, the amenities and the location. We had a junior suite and it was a good size. We had a private terrace. The room was cleaned and the mini-fridge restocked every day. The Air Conditioner worked great. Patrizia was very accommodating with our questions and arranged a car service for us on three occasions. We were about 50 yards from L'Orso 80 - an excellent restaurant. Spagna Metro station (next to the Spanish Steps) was less than a 15 minute walk from the hotel. The Vatican was perhaps a 25 minute walk. There is a small store with necessities, drinks and snacks located a short walk from the hotel. Bear in mind that each suite is located on a different floor and there are no elevators. A young man (Eduardo) was available to help with our luggage. We would not hesitate to stay there again. The friendliness of the owners and staff, the cleanliness of the unit, the location and the overall ambiance are well worth it.

Yelp
On a walk street a block from Plaza Navonna, this boutique hotel is such a gem. The owners are fun and very attentive and accomodating. The rooms are large and modern, the fixtures and bedding excellent.
