Stayed in unit 209, Jewel of The Sea for a week, and it was perfect! Updated unit with everything you needed for a family of 4, including a washer/dryer and beach towels, gear, and toys! We loved the two pools (one salt water, one chlorine)!!!

If you like a quieter experience but an awesome view, two nice pools and a nice common area close to town, this is your place. Beautiful sunset views, a "beach" area where you can get your tan on. 3 barbecues to use for your favorite meats. Hear there are one and two bedroom suites.

Great condos with views to the ocean, beautiful grounds with palm trees and lots of colorful birds, and a serene atmosphere. They have two pools but the salt water pool is my favorite. It's huge and right by the ocean. You can swim while listening to the surf. The grills and cabana are excellent, and it's fun to grill with a drink in hand by the tiki lights. Plus parking is easy and you can quickly get to the major roads to get to the sights.

I cannot say enough about how wonderful Casa de Emdeko is, particularly for people looking for a family-friendly environment near, but not in the heart of Kona. We stayed in condo 212 as a family of 4 - 2 adults, 2 kids. The condo was in excellent condition, clean, comfortable and well-appointed with all of the towels, bedding, and kitchen supplies we could need, plus beach chairs and a mat which were a useful bonus. The view from the lanai was gorgeous and immediately relaxing, with beautiful gardens filling the condo courtyard and crashing waves just beyond the sea wall. We could also hear the waves from the condo at night. Our kids especially enjoyed the small beach, which is man-made but a great spot for playing in the sand. I enjoyed sitting on the sea wall while they played and watching fish and crabs navigate the waves and tide pools. We also really enjoyed the saltwater pool right on the edge of the ocean. We did not use the chlorine pool - just didn't have the need or the time - but it was really nice to have the option. Finally, the staff and condo community were welcoming and helpful. We had one maintenance need early in our stay and it was quickly fixed and didn't interfere with our plans at all. There were several residents and staff we saw most mornings and they were so kind to our kids and super friendly, plus there was fresh coffee every morning in the outdoor common area. What a bonus!

Honesty & Morals cannot be given… Hiding critical information… Handing a dirty unite: urine smell every where Humidity in every single place Uncleaned bed sheets & pillows Cockroaches once we accessed the unite. Un professional customer service. Actually, No words to describe the Hawaiian Hospitality We have experienced in this Fake Accommodation. This is the worst experience we have ever had & we will raise this issue to the concerned Authorities in the State if this is the acceptable standards here?’

I booked unit 104 through booking.com the day before heading to the Big Island and we paid in full. I received a confirmation later that day and a bunch of offers from the company managing the property. The next morning I received a message saying that they had an issue with their booking calendar and the room was not actually available. They said I should cancel the booking so they can process a refund, which seemed odd. I called them and they said the same thing to me but I explained that I cannot cancel because the booking was "non-refundable" and I do not in fact want to cancel. They offered to call back but only got a text message saying exactly the same thing for the third time. I had to contact booking.com to explain the situation and they were able to get the money refunded in full. This seemed like a scam to me because they were so insistent on me cancelling a "non-refundable" booking so they could process a refund, which makes no sense as they were the ones with no availability. I'd be very cautious of booking a room with them. It appears that units here are individually managed, so I'd consider booking another one and avoid 104.

An amazing 10 day stay the kids loved the two pools, and the views of the sunsets and being able to BBQ hotdogs. Love the update saltwater pool ( was here 1998) super close to magic sands and city center unit is well stocked and parking is good and free

We really enjoyed our time at Casa-De-Emdeko. We would definitely stay there again. Older facility but very well maintained. Beautiful grounds and 2 pools including a salt water pool! Lots of amenities on the property. We stayed there through Kona Coast Vacations and were very pleased with our experience. The price for our condo was shocking considering this is Hawaii. Also booking through Kona Coast literally saved us several hundred dollars.

Yelp
Stayed there for 2 nights. Our unit had a partial ocean view and it was nice to relax on the balcony after a day of exploring. Inside of the unit was clean and well appointed, although some of the decor was a bit dated. We enjoyed the extra towels and the washer and dryer. Easy self check in and access to the resort. There appears to be constant construction on this property and indeed, they had to shut down the water for the 2 mornings we were there, with prior announcements on exact timing. Overall this didn't impact our stay as we were up early. Bedroom was close to the elevator and very dark, which was offset by the bright living room.

Yelp
Stayed here for two weeks. Usually condos are better than staying at a hotel. Most of the residents, guests and employees were rude. Parking was horrible, mostly due to the way the inconsiderate drivers parked their rental vehicles. The entire property has an ant, water bug and roach infestation. The pedestrian gate was either broken or we were given the wrong code. It would make sense to use the same code as the entry/exit gates. One of the entry/gates was broken. The same plumbing company was on the property 24/7 for various plumbing issues to numerous condos. The pools were dirty and had sharp objects on the bottom. Found out the monthly HOA fee was $1000...OH HELL NO!!! We DO NOT recommend this property!

Yelp
They thought of everything it was amazing, clean, organized and fully renovated. Pools, bbq and view was amazing close to everything. Unit 304

Yelp
Beautiful, well manicured establishment. Friendly residents and staff. We felt very safe there with a locking gate and codes on doors. The neighborhood is also stunning with a local farmers market and store in walking distance. There is a salt water and chlorine pool. The grounds are kept in tip top shape. The pavilion has coffee in the morning where people congregate and visit. Conche blowing ceremony at sunset...compliments of the dedicated residents. Can't wait to go back!! No reason to stay anywhere else.

Yelp
Just stayed in #334 for a week and it really was a great place. The friends we traveled with come to Hawaii yearly and always stay at Casa De Emdeko after trying a couple other places. The unit itself is a small one-bedroom with a great view. I spent as much time as possible on the lanai watching the water and even some whales go by. The kitchen was very well stocked. The only complaint was the shower-the nozzle is very low and the water sprays out into the bathroom. The grounds of Casa De Emdeko are wonderful! There are two pools-one fresh and one salt water. There are common area tables and BBQs to use. We cooked and ate out there 3 nights. The security on site were friendly and professional. The location is great-close enough to get to the touristy areas of Kona without having to be in the middle of it. I definitely recommend staying here and we would not hesitate to get this condo again if we come back.

Yelp
Stayed in Unit 219 through rental managers Knutson & Associates. Book directly with them for the lowest rates (VRBO, AirB&B, and others all charge more with their website fees). Only inconvenience is sending a money order for $1,000 security deposit or paying $40 on credit card for damage insurance. Estimate I saved $30 by spending a few minutes of my time getting the money order and mailing it to K&A. They promptly returned my $1000 a few days after our stay ended. Now, the accommodations review: we loved it! It had been remodeled Sept 2018 so older reviews on older furnishings were moot. The corner lanai went for DAYS. The view and ocean sounds were spectacular. Falling asleep to authentic ocean waves every night was incredible. The building is older, but it seems maintenance is kept up - but you must understand this is right next to the ocean, rust will be a constant issue! The central air (!) A/C worked great during the heat of the afternoon, and in the mornings and evenings the three doors (S side, W side, and N side) could be opened for a nice breeze. King bed in master bedroom, twin beds in second room great for kids, a sofa sleeper or daybed in living room for the extra person visiting (grandma/pa?), etc. Two seats at the countertop bar, four at dining table, four at lanai table, plus 4 lounging chairs on the wraparound lanai. Very comfortable. Only complaint is the far walk from the parking lot and I wouldn't call the place fully physical-disability-accessible (at least not this unit). But hey, we could have stayed inside or on the lanai the whole time it was so relaxing, with every amenity for cooking at home. But lugging the groceries from the car wasn't fun, it was a hike, and up a flight of stairs. Weird layout but the builders did what they could to get you this incredible view. We'll be back!

Yelp
Amenities included a private sandy beach at the beginning of the property from seaward. Outside of this somewhat secluded beach area, you will view ocean sunsets, and lava rock elsewhere. I never tried entering the surf from here. My favorite entry point is at Kailua-Kona's Beach. It's an easy walk either way. Upon returning to your condo at Casa de Emdeko from Alii Street, you can stop at several shops; from haircuts to convenience store. BBQ for yourself or reserve the gazebo and fresh water swimming pool for the big party. You could use the full bar amenities and stock it. The gazebo and BBQ grills are situated between the swimming pools. The pool near the beach is a seawater swimming pool. I never got to try it. Looks like a great for portrait pics. As I recall the units at the Oceanside are large 3 bedroom units. The 1 bedroom unit was fine! I are every meal on the lanai. I fell to sleep and woke every morning to the sounds of the ocean. Eat like a "local" and buy groceries to cook your main meals. The rest of the units I assume are basically like the 1 bedroom unit with the bedrooms next to the entrance doors and the sliding lanai doors and balcony of every unit facing the center courtyard. The best rumor about this place, is that it was once a resort for the rich and famous. You will easily spot remnants of possible housekeeping apparatus here and there. I will regret not buying a unit here when it was offered. The structure is solid. I would still consider buying a unit on the north side of the "V" configuration. This is near a real, untouched artifact of an authentic race from Polynesian history was really quite wondrous

Yelp
Comfortable with two pools right on the ocean front. Perfect garden in the center. Outrageous sunsets.

Yelp
This review is for #334 only NOT Casa de Emdeko as a whole. Booked #334 through Grand Welcome. The AC leaked approximately 5 gallons of water which we caught in the kitchen trash can so the owner's closet wouldn't flood for our first 24 hours here. Had to use 6 towels in the hallway to catch the splash. Had to buy laundry detergent to wash said towels because it's not provided. There are only two beach towels (which we had to use for AC condensation) so I had to buy two more. I hope they are still here for the next vacationers. There are only two dishwasher detergent packets to cover 8 days. There was only a half roll of paper towels and no back up roll. Bought more. The coffee grinder doesn't work. We bought whole bean coffee -- silly us. The batteries in the TV remotes are bad. Got to buy those too. There are no beach chairs or umbrella. I refuse to buy those. I've stayed in 3 other condos at Casa de Emdeko and these were always available. The rug tacks at the edge of the kitchen where tile meets carpet stick up and punctured my husband's foot. There was a hornet nest on the lanai. The view from the lanai is great but dodging the hornets sucks. Although the nest is gone, they keep coming back There is a "supposed" sensor on the lanai door that doesn't allow you to leave just the screen door open -- so there's no enjoying the sound of the ocean while sitting inside. I've stayed at Casa de Emdeko six times before...it's a great place to stay but NOT in 334. The folks at Grand Welcome were responsive to the AC debacle and the hornet nest. I'd work with them again but not at this condo. NOTE TO OWNER : We paid extra for the view. That doesn't mean you don't have to provide the basics. In the end a well stocked, working, clean condo makes the experience. Otherwise it's hard to enjoy the gorgeous view. I'll book at another CDE condo next time.

Yelp
Casa de Emdeko is a fantastic place. It's close to town, but completely removed. We have two swimming pools, one traditional and another ocean fed salt water, right on the ocean. We have our own man-made beach, barbeques, a huge cabana, and best of all, peace and quiet. The sunsets are incredible. One interesting fact is that so many people return here year over year. I was talking to a fellow by the pool yesterday, and this was his tenth annual stay. His buddy has been here for the past 17 years. We liked it so much, we bought our unit. If you want to know more, especially about our unit, navigate to Facebook and type in halehonukeakua. I have lots of pictures of the complex that should give you some good feelz about the place. Aloha!

Yelp
Casa de Emdeko doesn't look like much from the street side, but it's actually very nice. The location is great, only about 1 1/2 miles from the downtown area. The complex is waterfront and all units have some kind of ocean view. There are two pools (one is Oceanside and salt water) and a man made beach area. I spent a week I unit 326. It met all our needs and was very convenient. Loved hearing the ocean from the lanai. The whole unit stayed cool with leaving the lanai door open. There were no bugs or flaws. It's an older apartment complex, but it is very well maintained and one of the nicest in the area.

Yelp
We've stayed here on almost every trip to Kona. We love this place! Other condos were noisy or disappointing. This location is perfect. The south building is preferred. We try to get #217 ( 2 bedroom by the water). Just can't beat the "Aloha" feel of this complex.

Yelp
We stayed in unit 334 for the first three weeks of 2015. Very nice unit, comfortable interior and furnishings, good linens, kitchen well supplied, lovely seating on the lanai, gorgeous view, we enjoyed sitting and watching the dolphins, whales, and the waves pounding in. The shower needs to be replaced, there is damp and mould around the shower frame. No washer and dryer, but laundry room onsite, clean, but a pain to haul laundry up and down. Needs more than one beach towel and folding beach chair, and no boogies boards. We got ours from the Christian thrift shop close to town for $5 each and then donated them back at the end of our stay. Nice complex, well maintained.

Yelp
I have stayed here twice, at the same unit called Kona Turtle Condo. Great location, unit is right on the water. It is a one bedroom with a cute kitchen with all the amenities, a lanai the faces the water and cute decor that is not over the top. Clean, comfortable, quiet and safe. Very friendly community feel. Even during spring break there are not a lot of annoying teenagers making tons of noise. Highly recommended.

Yelp
A TRUE GEM!!! Location and price will blow you away! Lovely 1 bedroom 1 bath with all of the best amenities! Beautiful view! State of the art appliances and furnishings. All of the comforts of home and more! Well cared for and we will definitely stay here again!
