"Oaxaca has no shortage of gorgeous colonial-era buildings; in fact, that's what draws many visitors to this stunningly beautiful Mexican city. But Casa de Siete Balcones, a seven-room boutique hotel, is particularly special, with unusually spacious rooms and, as its name suggests, seven balconies (yes, one for each room). The building itself dates to the 18 th century. The structure, along with the rooms’ heavy wood furniture and the cobbled street just outside the door, has the effect of transporting guests to another era. Other design details that will appeal to visitors with nostalgia for an earlier century include Spanish tile floors, and a courtyard filled with plants and flowers; the Spanish-style patio also features a bubbling fountain. Rooms are filled with natural light, and service is friendly and attentive."

This was one of the best hotel experiences I have ever had! The staff went above and beyond to make our stay and my birthday trip feel very special. They are very attentive to details, from how they treat guests, even to how they clean and care for the rooms and common spaces. The entire hotel was extremely clean, perfectly decorated and charming, and the location was possibly the best in the city. I will definitely be staying here again when I return to Oaxaca.

Excellent little hotel with a very local / B&B vibe. The staff were super helpful and hospitable. The breakfast was delicious and catered specifically for us. The rooms were quite comfortable as well, and they upgraded us with which was very nice. The location is central to everything, but it can be a little loud at night. Highly recommend staying here and it's special because of the staff.

It’s a beautiful boutique hotel right in the middle of everything. The staff is super helpful and kind! They even got me a delicious cake for my birthday. I really can’t say enough about how nice and helpful the staff are. They helped us arrange transportation to and from the airport, as well as several excursions outside of Oaxaca. All of their recommended drivers and guides were very friendly and helpful. They became our friends along the way. It’s not a five star hotel by any means. But it is five star location and service. It was perfect for our Oaxacan adventure.

We stayed at Casa de Siete Balcones for two nights during a short trip to Oaxaca and really enjoyed the experience. It felt more like a charming bed and breakfast than a typical hotel, with a warm, boutique vibe and lots of local character. The owner and staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Mornings started with a simple but satisfying breakfast—fresh fruit, coffee, and sweet breads served right outside your room on the terrace. The location couldn’t be better—super central and within walking distance to everything you’d want to explore.

We had excellent memories from Hotel Casa de Sietes. Excellent location in historic center, typical authentic architecture and decoration, very warm and hospitable team and very clean spaces. Furthermore, flowers. Fresh flowers at every corner, renewed almost every day. Warmth and care for guests would be two key words to describe this place. Thanks to everyone who contributed to make our stay unforgettable.

Another great stay at this property. Quaint, central and comfortable. The staff and management are welcoming and so helpful. The hotel is always spotless and clean. Breakfast is included and the open air eating area and common areas are very comfortable. They always have parking out front to unload and safe over night parking a half a block down the street. I've stayed here 4 times and I am always welcomed back, helped with inquires and advice and made to feel right at home. The best part is you are right in the heart of the city!!

The staff was so lovely here. We had to book a few extra nights last minute and Fabian was completely accommodating. The room was clean with lots of character and the location was perfect for anyone wanting to stay in the well trafficked area in the centro. Highly recommend. Would love to return on my next trip!

Yelp
I can only echo what other reviewers have said about Casa de los Siete Balcones: The hotel is in an ideal location in Oaxaca's Centro Historico, midway between the central square and the Templo de Santo Domingo de Guzmán. The owners and staff couldn't be more welcoming. From assisting us with our luggage, to their care they used furnishing and appointing the rooms, to assuring that we had transportation back to the airport, you won't, at any time, feel like you're not at home. The hotel itself is a delightful 7-room, old-school casa with the typical high-ceilings, tile, abundant flowers, and gardens inside the exterior gate. Book your stay here when you're in Oaxaca. You won't regret it.

Yelp
I can not recommend this hotel enough. My family basically took over all of the rooms last week, and the service and atmosphere and location made the stay so very pleasant. Many times we would remark "this is five-star service we are getting!" Julia, who is on the front desk in the evenings, helped book reservations at a popular restaurant; coordinated drycleaning for the family; made great food recommendations; and booked a taxi (in-house) for us to and from the airport. Everything went off without a hitch. We love Julia! The rooms are lovely - clean, simple, and the air conditioner and fan meant a cool room throughout a hot day. The hotel itself is downtown, so the noise level is high on the street, but with the balcony doors closed it blocked out much of the noise. I slept well the whole trip. It is also awesome to have a room with a balcony so you can check out the life going on outside your room (so much life!), so if you like that option, make sure to request a room with a balcony. Every morning you get a complimentary breakfast of Mexican pastries, juice, coffee, fruit, yogurt, and granola - it's delicious. You also get one complimentary upgrade for a meal, and we got the pork tamale in mole sauce. So rich, so tasty. You get to sit in the common area, surrounded by plants, served by nice staff, eating your free breakfast. Nice way to start the day! There is also a great coffee shop right around the corner from the hotel, if you like your latte in the morning. Being downtown is also a great bonus for this hotel. Everything is walkable - the best restaurants, the market, the square where everyone gathers, the cathedrals. All within a short walk. You can't go wrong with this hotel.

Yelp
My wife and I recently returned to Oaxaca after almost five years and stayed in the historic district at the Casa de Siete Balcones Hotel again. It was our third time returning to Siete Balcones. I have stayed at and visited many hotels in Oaxaca both for business and pleasure. Siete Balcones is THE hotel for couples seeking a romantic and intimate experience. The hotel is in a historic building and has only six suites, all on the second floor and all beautifully outfitted with large sumptuous beds, en suite showers, and living areas. The ceilings are high and everything feels roomy. And, of course, all suites have balconies above the street which open out onto either Morelos or the pedestrian-only street, Alcala. The location, directly between the zocalo and the Church of Santo Domingo is the best in town. We walked to everything, going as far north as the Llano park and as far south as the Abastos Indian Market. We did not need to bring our pillows because there were plenty and there was a great range in size and firmness. The mattresses are firm. The balconies have wide sliding glass doors for great viewing, even from the bed. Even though the hotel is in the center of everything, the rooms can be absolutely darkened and sound deadened. The sliding balcony doors are double thick and there are heavy wood doors that close over them so you are guaranteed to have the most quiet sleep you can imagine in the middle of all the bustle. Before we arrived, Janet and Julia assisted us in finding the rooms for ourselves and the other couple with whom we traveled. Upon arrival, we were greeted at the airport, welcomed warmly at the hotel and found fresh flowers and fine linens arranged beautifully in our room. There is a turn down service and we were treated to Oaxacan chocolates on our pillows on our return from a late dinner our first night. We had a coffee pot with both ground coffee and tea provided in our room. There are no bath tubs, but The showers are big enough for two and provide an endless supply of hot water with good pressure. The hotel provides all the soaps, towels and amenities (think hair dryer) one expects in an American hotel, but also provides some interesting local products (we were treated to local balms and exfoliants in our shower basket). Entry to the hotel is through a gate next to the front office. As in many hotels in Oaxaca entry is into a foyer which leads onto a courtyard open to the sky. Stairs lead to the second floor tiled deck where all the suites are located. There are ample seating areas along the deck and the breakfast area is located upstairs in the open area as well. All of the decked areas are under roof, but there is still a large area open to the sky and a side stair leads to a rooftop deck with views of the city. The outer areas are beautifully appointed with statuary, paintings and pottery. The hotel entrance is monitored 24/7. We always felt safe and that our valuables were secure, protected and could be left unattended in our suite. The entry is locked at night, but we could return at any time, because Marco, the night desk clerk was always waiting for us. Marco also provided bell service for us at 4:00 am the day of our departure: without being called, he was waiting for our bags outside our rooms. The entire staff is committed to the well-being of the guests. We had breakfasts prepared to order, coffee delivered to the room, and site visit recommendations. The hotel has prepared its own pamphlet of recommendations as well. Any thing we wanted, all we had to do was call the front desk from our room. All staff at the hotel speak english. In past visits, the hotel has changed dollars to pesos, connected us with bus tours, laundry service and rental car companies. On this trip we asked for a recommendation for a guide. The hotel called the guide for us and put us in touch with him. He had attended school in the US and spoke English fluently and, being Oaxacan had much to share about his culture. His warmth and intelligence were a positive reflection on Siete Balcones. We stayed 6 nights at Sietes Balcones. Thorughout we were treated as returning family,. Our needs were always anticipated. We were catered to. The warmth of the staff, their care and dedication to our enjoyment of our stay, their hotel and their town make staying at Casa Sietes an experience worth repeating again and again. We cannot wait until we visit them again. If your experience at the hotel is half of that which we enjoyed, you will be responding in thanks to this review.
