Delicious quick tapas, we asked for recommendations from our waiter. Pulpo and miniburrata and paella were big hits if you like seafood! Kids and adults alike loved it

During our stay at the Intercontinental Hotel in Barcelona, we dined here twice and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The food was good, and the service consistently excellent. The menu offers great options for sharing, making it perfect for two. We opted for outdoor seating—while the sidewalk can get busy, it adds to the lively atmosphere and is well worth it. Overall, a solid choice for a midday bite or a lighter meal. No complaints—just good food and great service! Definitely recommend.

The olive appetizer is the best so far after 2 weeks in Spain. Friendly staff with a sense of humor.

Overall - 5.9/10 The service at the beginning was very weak. Despite the restaurant being nearly empty, we were left waiting for quite some time. Once we were seated, they didn’t bring us the menu, and I had to get up and ask for it myself. However, the service gradually improved throughout the meal. Croquetes de Jamón - 2.1 The croquettes were the most recommended dish in the restaurant, yet we found them quite disappointing. While they were crispy on the outside, they were too soft inside with a greasy taste that resembled béchamel sauce. Atomic Chicken Wings - 7.3 The presentation was creative (mimicking a cocktail), and the sauce was tasty. However, the wings had very little meat, which was disappointing given the price — a bit more meat would have been expected. Garlic Bread with Tomato I didn’t try it myself, but it had an interesting Do-It-Yourself concept, and those who did try it enjoyed it a lot. Paella - 4.8 It felt more like tomato sauce rice with green beans and cuttlefish (plus a few prawns). It lacked the essence and flavor fusion you’d expect from a proper paella. For the price we paid (€22 per person), I expected better quality. Additionally, it also took a lot of time to arrive (more than they said it would take). On a positive note, the portion was quite generous and ended up serving more people than we had originally ordered for.

We went for some easy tapas. I got to say, the patatas bravas were good and the pickled anchovies. Chicken wings were good too!

Google
What a superb tapas place. Funky menu but spectacular food. Only dropped in by accident for a coffee and snack and ended up having padrons, mini burger and superb flan. Menu is comic style and worth reading. Colourful and fun. Selection of tapas excellent. Might seem a little expensive but worth every penny for the quality. My only disappointment was that I wasn't able to eat more! I will be back. I believe the owner has several other restaurants right beside this one and all have a reputation of serving great food. Some even have a Michelin star. The attention to detail is obvious and shows. Try it, you wont be disappointed.

Google
What a great food! I definitely recommend this restaurant. Especially a little bit before 7:00 p.m. so the place is not so busy. But overall it was a great food and the waiter wasn't very nice guy. Very helpful and very knowledgeable of the whole menu. Very authentic Catalonia dinner

Yelp
My fiancé and I just tried this place and it is definitely our new fav! Every dish possessed incredible distinct flavor profiles. Not only was the service outstanding the price point for the caliber of food was fantastic! We will be coming back soon! This family owned restaurant also own a restaurant next door called Rios Kru which looks fancier and looked as though they offer a lot of seafood and another restaurant nearby called Teatro.

Yelp
Wow, what an amazing experience! We were walking near our hotel and decided to check this place out. Prior to coming to Barcelona, our friends had provided us with lists of where to get the best tapas. Even though Casa was not on our lists, we were so happy that we decided to try it out. The garlic bread is a must. We were not sure how to make it, since you are provided with the bread, garlic, tomatoes, and vinegar. Our waiter was nice enough to set it up for us. It was so good! Also, the guacamole with shrimp dish was amazing. However, our favorite tapa was the fried fish cod ball - it was an explosion of flavor! All in all, this place is super cute and the waiters are very nice. We even got a magic show at the end!

Yelp
Razor Clams are so so good here! Perfectly seasoned & the Smokey flavor is amazing. We also got the oysters here, and it's extremely fresh. Also, get the sangria Cava - sweet and refreshing. We also got a couple of other dishes like bread & tomatoes, beef stew, potatoes & eggs, but those were just average. Get their seafood! It's perfectly seasoned & fresh. You won't regret it..

Yelp
Went here our first night in Barcelona on our honeymoon. We both loved the food, service and atmosphere. We left with their house rum, it was sweet but good. Paella was 10/10, it's a lot of food for two people and we almost ate it all. Don't miss out on this place if your in the area. We are from the states and they were so hospitable. Hope to come back some day.

Yelp
Carlos was our gracious and friendly waiter. I walked in for lunch here instead of struggling to procure a prix fixe reservation at Tickets or Bodega 1900. We waited probably 10 minutes to be seated. There are plenty of locals inside so this is not a tourist trap although the menu looks super kitschy. The seafood tapas were all top notch! There are a lot of Galician style dishes available. Patatas bravas for example were boiled not fried/baked. We enjoyed the soft texture, but I recommend sticking to the seafood hands down. The anchovies LOLIN 00 were indeed showstoppers. Razor clams are the best I've ever had! The meat tapas were a bit of a letdown.

Yelp
I was surprised to find that the reviews here are so all over the place! I had come on a Thursday evening with a reservation per recommendation of the hotel. We were promptly seated and I was immediately charmed by the restaurant branding, mainly composed of fun colors and characters and this concept of Nirtapa - I'm a sucker for a good pun! We were seated next to the jamon carving bar and during the second half of the meal, the restaurant had someone doing magic tricks. Both great sources of entertainment! For food, we ordered the pan con tomate, which was made live for us. This appears to be a traditional dish with grilled bread and olive oil, with raw garlic and tomato rubbed over the top. We also ordered jamon, patatas bravas, the grilled artichoke special, grilled shrimp (so buttery and tender!), and a 2-person serving of paella. Apparently the paella normally is made in larger sizes for sharing, but given all the number of other dishes we ordered, we asked if we could have a 2-person serving. The restaurant was able to accommodate this request for us and we did not regret it! Overall all, our meal was great food, drink, entertainment, and conversation. Generally, the restaurant felt just a tad-tourist trappy, but it was one of my more memorable and delicious meals in Barcelona.

Yelp
We tried to get into tickets but its common knowledge in Barcelona that you cant get in unless you have made a reservation 2 months in advance. So the next best thing is this place, the sister restaurant - more casual, easier to get into, amazing food, and totally kid friendly. Hypes: - Food. WOW. one of the best and my favorite meals in Barcelona. Fresh, fast, well paced and brought out. - The menu- so fun, you actually want to order everything on it. its tourist friendly also. but there are a lot of locals that come here. - the bread - they always trick you to buy the bread or put it in front of you and charge you...but here its totally worth it. ask them to make it with the garlic and tomato rubbed on top - its a special way they make it and it tastes amazing. the tomato is not to eat separately from the bread - its a part of the bread dish (if that made any sense) - patatas bravas- delicious - clams - really yum - chicken wings - flavorful - croquettes - decent - garlic beef - amazing - my favorite dish Gripes: - don't get the chicken curry dish - definitely not as good as the rest of the things we ordered Super kid friendly with high chairs and a changing table

Yelp
Very disappointed.. the worst Paella I've ever had !! And let's not talk about the service.. slow and rude

Yelp
Awesome tapas! The Iberian ham and the burger sliders were a big hit, as was the veal and pork cannoli. The patatas bravas were also flavorful but not overwhelmingly spicy. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a good selection of tapas!

Yelp
We spend an evening in this lovely Tapas place during our stay in Barcelona last week-end. We wanted to try it cause the place looks very cute with it's beautiful terrace and the nice light and pretty tables :-) Very nice environment. The meal started very well ! We ordered a "cerveza" and an orange juice. This last one was freshly squeezed ! A very good surprise. Then on the advice of the very nice lady that served us, we choose 2 tapas with fish, 2 tapas with meat, and the famous "Patatas Bravas" at last. The tapas were gorgeous. Absolutely delicious. Very well presented and tasty. Actually the only problem with those tapas was the price. We paid 40€ for 5 shared tapas and 2 drinks. Considering that we were still hungry at the end of the meal, that's pretty expensive ^^ We actually had a lovely time in that place. Until we got the bill... Yes the Tapas were a bit expensive, sure, but that's not the reason. Suddenly we had this strange feeling that we have been taken for idiots... Let me explain. During the meal, a different waiter that the lady that took care of us the entire evening, bring to our table a basket containing 2 slice of bread. As bread is usually given for free in French restaurants, we were not surprised by that. We shared one slice as they were pretty big. And we didn't even noticed that there were a tomato and some garlic in the basket. What a surprise for us when we see on the bill that this basket costed 3€! Okay maybe that's not much, but wait a second, we ate only one slice of bread !! For 3€ ?!!! You got to be kidding me !. I asked the waiter about it. He told me that's an habit in Barcelona, in every restaurant you get bread, tomato and garlic. Well maybe, but he should have explain that to us when he brings the basket ! He clearly saw that we are tourists (we don't speak spanish at all). He should have told us that's an habit, the cost of it, and we would have made the decision to take it or not. We told him that's not honest and that we feel like they fooled us. Plus, we didn't eat it all, so they can easily charge the next table with the same bread, tomato and garlic... That's a shame. That's a bad way to treat costumers and especially tourists ! We were very disappointed when we left the place. And we get back home hungry and angry...

Yelp
Having gotten in late and not knowing the area at all, we got to this place on a recommendation from the hotel staff. Sometimes you think that they just send you to places where they have relationships but this turned out to be pretty stellar. Open late with excellent food. The pulpo de Gallega and the Galician beef were superb. Who knew such a low key place would produce such great cuisine? Service was super friendly and our waiter took care of us really well for coming in almost during closing. After eating here and encountering numerous dishes from Galicia all over Spain, I'm convinced that I need to hit Galicia the next time I go through Spain

Yelp
Such a fun dining experience. The food and drinks were amazing. The service was wonderful. The environment is intimate and friendly. The desserts are AMAZING. The tiramisu was out of this world. Would definitely return.

Yelp
Great food. love the fun menu and great food quality. love the atmosphere. ordered 7 tapas for 2 people and felt full. scallops were good. best dish was the oysters w ponzu sauce and pedro peppers. would highly recommend

Yelp
We enjoyed our meal here, starting with the ham slicer all the way through dessert. All of he food was freshly prepared and tasty. My only complaint was the prices. I have no problem with the concept of small plates of food, well prepared and ready to share. But many of the tapas (especially the scallops and shrimp) are 10 to 12 euros for very small portions. I'm not usually one to complain about prices - especially when on vacation... but I felt like the meal we had would have been great at about 2/3 the price. As for the food, it was all delicious. The sangria was tasty. We have the shrimp and the (not so) giant scallops. Garlic beef is very tasty... and the paella was good as well. Tiramisu for dessert was fresh and light. I would come back here for the food... but be careful about how quickly the bill adds up :)

Yelp
Great little place. A short walk from our hotel. Love to walk into a place and see locals. Great food friendly waiters. We picked a few different things to try and everything was delicious. If you are in the area a must .

Yelp
I had originally wanted to try espai Kru next door but somehow the reservation I made online on espai's page was for this place instead. They do belong to the same group so maybe I didn't pay enough attention. There are sample tapas behind the window on the counter that seem really fresh and inviting. We sat outside for lunch on a nice day, and like some other yelpers here noted, were surprised when the check came and saw that we were charged for the bread with tomatoes and garlic. It was brought to our table without us ordering it, and of course we took it as a complimentary treat on the house. But we'd also experienced similar issues at other restaurants in Barcelona so I do believe this is just custom. The suckling pig was delicious. We wanted the prawns but they were out. Cañota is a cute little place for traditional Spanish and Catalan cuisine but you won't feel at sea being a tourist.

Yelp
Service is really good! Absolutely local food but the crab paella is super salty and the crab is not fresh at all. Ham was really good though My friend order the mushrooms paella it was okay but a little bit salty as well And we had the vegetable soup....salty ! If you like salty things so definitely should go there!
google avatar

Caira M.

Yelp
Very touristic flair. The patatas bravas were cooked potatos with ketchup and mayo. We were send there from another tapas bar "tickets" around the corner. However, it was not close to what we had expected.

Yelp
4 stars for food, bordering on a 1 or generous 2 stars for service. This restaurant came at the recommendation of our hotel as a place for tapas and an authentic experience while we were in Barcelona. We had a 10 p.m. reservation on a Saturday night and arrived a few minutes early. The host was very friendly telling us our table would be ready in 6 minutes. They were very busy at this time, and others without reservations were told there was an hour wait. There is a lot of seating, downstairs, upstairs, outside. True to his word the host came over and led us to our upstairs table for 2 (not in an ideal spot) but the restaurant was crowded. At this point we were pleased with our reception. It was when we were seated at the table, is when service dramatically downgraded. Our waiter was aloof and not responsive. It was quite hot and we had to continually wait for refills of water bottles. It must have taken literally a half hour before a beer I ordered showed up. No apology for any delays, no efforts made in bringing in reinforcements to help. Our neighboring table sat without menus for a good while too. The food was the only saving grace. The octopus was my favorite of the night. It was tender in a salty red style sauce served among some buttery potatoes. Excellent. The burrata, tomato, aruglua, and mango salad was refreshing but too much cheese made this dish off balanced. The anchovies sampled were salty and good. Lastly the popular egg, pork, potato sticks dish (which we saw a lot of) (and sorry for not remembering the names of the dishes) was tasty but overly greasy and heavy. We did not stick around for dessert was we had enough of waiting around from our dissapointing service.
google avatar

Judy L.

Yelp
Dinner starts at 7:30pm. They were nice enough to let us just sit and sip on beer for 40 minutes waiting for the kitchen to open because we got there way too early. Service was great. Food is a bit on the steeper side. Seemed like 90% of the diners were tourists. This place must be on some tour books. We ordered: - mussels - get these! - sliced pork with potato matchsticks and fried egg - get this too! - calf cheek - tasted like beef bourguignon - suckling pig - nothing to write home about for these. Cantonese restaurants do these better. - sliced sausages - flan - tasted like normal flan except supersized. 5 dishes + 3 beers + a dessert = came out around 80 euros.

Yelp
Wonderful place after the magic fountain! Tapas, paella, and cold beer. Can't beat it!

Yelp
Very good experience if you want to get the nueva nouveau cusine. Lots of tapas with spanish stamp on it. Great experience woth great service. You can feel the influence of the Adrià's brothers. Is not too expensive and you get the same produce of the restaurants from the same brand.

Yelp
This place has great food.I felt like I could eat on and on till I was made of food. The people who worked there were so friendly. The atmosphere was very energetic.

Yelp
What a tourist trap! During our first few days in Barcelona, we had to opportunity to sample some amazing tapas! By our fourth night, we ventured down to Montjuic to see the magic fountains light up, and I looked to trusty Yelp to find a good restaurant in the area. I chose Casa de Tapes Canota based on it's great reviews. When we found it, we got that tourist trap vibe right from the start. The menu read as a multi-paged advertisement, boasting food, drink, and souvenirs with goofy cartoons. We gave it the benefit of the doubt, thinking maybe it was actually just silly and fun rather than tacky and kitschy? We were starving, so we ordered a couple drinks and the mussels and patatas bravas to get us started while we perused the menu. The waiter asked if we wanted bread with tomato, and we eagerly accepted, we have grown very fond of the pa amb tomaquet that we have recieved each time a waiter offered us "bread with tomato". Unfortunately, this was not pa amb tomaquet at all, this was literally a couple of large slices of toasted bread with a couple whole tomatoes and unpeeled raw garlic. This was our first dissapointment. The mussels came out next, they were just ok. At this point we decided not to order anything else there and to find somewhere else to have the rest of our dinner. But our drinks and plates were long empty, and our patatas bravas had still not come out yet. I actually asked if it was too late to cancel them at this point, and the waiter said they would be out in two minutes. He had clearly forgotten to put in the order - they came out piping hot, yet undercooked and soggy, with the sauces sloppily dumped on top. Not like the crispy and delicious patatas bravas we had eaten at other restaurants. We tried a couple bites and decided to save our appetite for the next restaurant we tried, Pulperia A Gudina, which was way better and just a couple blocks away. Not the worst food I've ever had, it is comparable with mediocre chain restaurants in America. But if you're travelling, no point in wasting a meal at a place that is sub-par when there are so many amazing places all around you!

Yelp
We came here hungry and the food was so good I was my stomach was bigger. Delicious fresh tapas full of flavor. I can only recommend this place. The waitress was very passionate and gave good recommendation about what we should taste.
google avatar

Diane Z.

Yelp
The menus are very cutesy with cartoons. Food was all very average: Prices in EUR -Sangria 19 -Anchoas 1.80 each -Boquerones in vinegar 1.80 each -Jamon Iberico 18 -Paella 18pp -Pulpo 10.50
google avatar

Mads L.

Yelp
Great food, great ambience and outstanding service. Lots of quality food to choose from - if you leave hungry you have only your self to blame :) Wine list is fairly limited and dish sizes are on the smaller side. Definitely a place to return to.
google avatar

Jason S.

Yelp
Yet another Yelp find as we wandered down from Montjuic. Service was friendly, fast and informative. Great menu selection, so much so that we took a long time to choose. Get the cherry gazpacho. The menu says to get it and the menu does not lie. The oysters Mexican were an excellent choice too. If you like oysters that is. If you don't get some anyway and then you will love oysters. Was not impressed with the Prawns from Palamos though. Too pricey for what you get. Croquettes were very good and decent size. The suckling pig was a great finish. All in all, for two for lunch it was €80. That included two beers and two glasses of wine. Well worth it.

Gisselle R.

Yelp
Bad food, nice people working there. Don't eat here, everything is frozen. The mall has WAY better food.
google avatar

Alex A.

Yelp
I have been in Barcelona for 4 days and this was my best restaurant experience by far. The food was absolutely delicious, the wait staff was friendly and readily available, and most importantly they were open until 2:30am when most restaurants in Spain close their kitchen at 11:30pm. Two thumbs up! Can't go wrong with Casa de Tapes Canota! :)
google avatar

Viki C.

Yelp
The food is tasty! We have ordered Potatos with brava sauce, bread and tomato, suckling pig and cod croquetas. The potatos are boiled instead of fried and the sause is different but good. The pig is smaller than we thought. Obviously the food is not enough for two people. All in all it is worth trying.
google avatar

Grisel A.

Yelp
Our first dinner in Barcelona was here at Casa de Tapes Cañota. We could not have asked for a better dining experience. The place feels authentic and has a lively atmosphere. They have English and Spanish menus which was very helpful since they have a quite extensive menu. Our server was incredibly helpful and made great suggestions. We ordered patatas bravas, cod croquets, garlic shrimp, and crab rice. Everything was exquisite. This restaurant definitely set the bar high.
google avatar

Eddie B.

Yelp
Highly recommended, all the food was amazeballs. Friendly staff, good service, especially nice outdoor seating lined by shrubs to seclude you from the busy city streets.

Finn G.

Yelp
Very nice place but well filled at dinner time. The place is obviously looking for tourists and its a little off on price to quantity (of food) ratio. However, the food is good, service is even better, and the chocolate dessert I got was amazing. Also that night a magician came to preform at tables thanks to the restaurant and he was actually pretty good.
google avatar

Robert M.

Yelp
Tasty food. Helpful staff. Although I prefer traditional "point and choose," the staff provided great suggestions.

Yelp
I'm on a yelp review writing binge but I am running out of steam. So even though I want to say more about this restaurant, I'm gonna keep it short and sweet. The muscles were excellent, order them. The scallops are the tiniest things I've ever seen or eaten but they were good, order them if you don't care about getting a minuscule amount of food for about 3€. We also ordered some kind of spicy potatoes, they were yummy, order them too. The ham croquettes were pretty tasty. Not amazing but we enjoyed them. Would I order them again? Probably not but if someone wanted them that I was with, I wouldn't object too hard. Lastly we got some sort of chorizo, matchstick potato and cheese (I think there was cheese) dish. It was too salty for our taste buds but I can see why other people could enjoy it. Seemed like quality ingredients and a nice presentation. One of the few things that I didn't like was the fact that they put a couple pieces of bread and a couple of tomatoes on the table. Coming from America, they usually just give you things like that with your meal. But apparently in Spain they put food on your table at the beginning of your meal and charge you if you eat it. So diner beware. But we ate it anyway and then when then charged us, we said, "we didn't order this" and they took it off the bill. I'd say this was the best meal we ate in Barcelona, I'd definitely come back if I'm ever in town again.

Hara W.

Yelp
Wavered between 3 and 4 stars; 4 for food, 3 for price, service, ambiance. Sat outside on a sunny day, though it's on a busy avenue they have a garden hedge to make it feel cozy. It's a large restaurant, believe it's a chain place. Upon getting the menu I thought we were eating at the Spanish version of Denny's given the cartoons and silly names, but that's just it's kitsch. Pricier than traditional tapas places with about the same portion sizes, but the food was yummy. Recommend the caneline de carne, and the croquetas de jamon (ham) & bacaloa (cod). Good for families and couples alike.

Yelp
Very very nice tapas place (it is part of the group of Adria's brothers' restaurants)..in my opinion do not miss the cochinita, the rabo de toro burger and the bravas, absolutely delicious!!

Kate B.

Yelp
Really enjoyed this place. It was a nice change of pace from the typical tapas restaurants that all have the same thing. We got the paella. It was really great. Lots of seafood. But according to my dinner partner, not super traditional. I didn't care, it was amazing to me. Cute place. Tasty food.
google avatar

Aileen L.

Yelp
Unbelievable food. Owned by a member of the Adria family, and you can sure tell. The Pulpo Gallega is to die for. Everything was to die for. And, considering that we couldn't get into tickets without a 5 month wait, this place was a dream find. Not at all as expensive as I'd expected, particularly considering the ownership

Aravind N.

Yelp
Ordinary. Very over rated. Super expensive. You can spend a lot less for much better food. We went there once on our last night in Barcelona and it was the 1 let down in our entire trip. Not bad. Not good for the money you spend

Angelyn C.

Yelp
This was our first meal in Barcelona. We had the bravas, pulpo, quail thighs and suckling pig. Then sponge cake w/ burnt yoke for dessert - AMAZING!! We were pleasantly full after that. The Bravas are their number 1 tapas, the potatoes were soft and just melted in your mouth like butter with a special sauce. The bread they gave at our table came with fresh garlic and tomato. The waiter kindly demonstrated what to do and it was delicious! Be careful not to overdo it w/ the garlic as it is fresh and very strong :-) We would go back every day if we could, this was a great restaurant, highly recommended!
