Absolutely fantastic place. A few steps to the little beach, next door to a great little restaurant, quick walk to boat services, easy stroll to downtown and the main beach. We stayed in the family suite and there was more than enough space for 5 of us. Could easily have slept a dozen. Gorgeous kitchen and for a change it was well equipped. We also used the grill outside. The pool was a welcome retreat from the heat of the day and was frequented by a variety of birds and iguanas. The roof top lounge area has sweeping views. Will definitely stay here again on our next visit.

This house is very good. The location is perfect and the rooms and pool are very nice. The area is quiet and very safe. The house has daily cleaning service and the host is available at any time. The beach is just a few steps away and if you rent a boat you can go to a "private" beach that is more calm and quiet.

We were in the Tiburones Suite for 2 nights last week. What a perfect spot! Our room was light and airy with windows that had the best view over the bay, while having a shower. Loved the outdoor kitchen, very social and a great meeting spot. The family raved about the pool, and it was kept spotless. The grounds were constantly being worked on and beautifully kept.

I had the pleasure of staying at Casa de Tortugas for 6 days in November. What a fabulous place to retreat and relax! The pool, gardens, palapa deck, outdoor bar and cooking area were an oasis of outdoor living. Washing dishes while looking out over the ocean and appreciating the sunsets were daily delights. I loved watching the endless array of birds come and go - they set the tone for being in Chacala...carefree...connected to nature...harmonious. I'm from a small mountain town in Colorado and have several friends who have come here for yoga retreats. I now know why they say it is so special. It's like being at camp, but a tropical one! Our days were casual, with activities of our choosing. The more private "children's beach" is a quick walk outside the front door. It was the perfect place to play on our stand up paddle boards and to paddle our kayak out to the point. We also walked along the main beach and through the town. Then it was easy to find our way back to the Casa to enjoy some margaritas and take a swim. Two more things worth mentioning. First, the rooms are so colorful, tasteful, and unique. Some shower areas have windows that open to outside, there are beautiful tiles and hand painted quotes throughout the property. It feels so welcoming. Second, the people of Chacala were amazing. Everyone, those who drove us from the airport, cared for and maintained the Casa, or made and served food, were warm and genuine. I left, feeling like I had made new friends. This is truly a special place. I look forward to returning.

We just spent a week at Casa de Tortugas - we were a party of 10 (2 families each with 2 young children, and 1 set of grandparents). The property itself is beautiful, the gardens are lovely and the pool itself and the pool area is wonderful. The house is kept very clean. The views are lovely and the short walk to the beach is perfect. We would most definitely come and stay again. Mary (the housekeeper) and the gardener were so nice and so helpful and do a wonderful job. Every morning we spent at the beach and every afternoon we spent in the garden/pool area while the kids were napping - a great vacation, thank you!

I spent a week here at a yoga retreat in Jan-Feb of 2017. The third floor is a large open palapa with an interrupted view of the ocean. I shared a 3-twin room with two new friends, and the room was perfectly adequate - comfy bed, nice breeze, plenty of space, clean, and a modern bathroom. There are six total bedrooms so I suppose it could get loud but our group occupied the whole space so we were particularly thoughtful. The large kitchen is spacious and well equipped. Our group hired a lovely woman to come in and prepare breakfast & clean up each morning. Otherwise meals in town or along the beach were a five minute walk, delicious (think fresh fish & shellfish, guacamole, and tasty margaritas), and SO INEXPENSIVE that cooking in for ourselves was never a consideration. And the people of Chacala - what sweet happy folks, living simple lives and focused on family and taking good care of us. You can become as involved in the community as you'd like (we attended a dinner on the beach to raise money for the local school, and took a long hike with a local guide) or keep to yourself. ||If you arrive expecting the luxury of a Westin, you'll be disappointed but if your intent is to get away from the hustle and bustle, and enjoy getting back to what really matters, this is the place for you.

Casa de Tortugas was amazing. Our family of 6 stayed in the La Familia suite for a week. Everything about this place was great. The pool, the gardens, the location, the well stocked kitchen, and the service. The upper deck has wonderful views and is a perfect place to relax with a book and a margarita. It is a short walk into town, where you can get great food, basic necessities and camp out on the beautiful beach all day long. We fell in love with Chacala and can't wait to go back. We would definitely stay at Casa de Tortugas again.

We live in Mexico and have visited many beach locations in search of the best place to let US family members escape the dismal winter weather there. This was our second stay at Casa de Tortugas and our third visit to Chacala, which is by far our favorite Pacific Coast destination. The only thing better than being in Chacala is being there and staying at the Casa de Tortugas. The combination is unbeatable. The house is very well appointed, clean, comfortable, and safe, and the landscaping is gorgeous. The view beyond the infinity pool to the ocean (including the occasional passing pod of whales) is spectacular. The maid (Mary) and property manager (Javier) ensure that the property is well maintained and your needs are met with a smile. If you are looking for a small, quiet, and non-touristy town with an excellent beach, decent restaurants, and a first-class rental property, you can't do better than Chacala and Casa de Tortugas.
