Yelp
I'm giving this place 5 stars based on their customer service, location, and cost effectiveness. This is a place you choose if you want a basic, low-cost, safe place to sleep at night while you are out enjoying Puerto Rico. If you want a resort that has pools, casinos, so much you don't want to leave, this is not it. The rooms were only about $70/night. We were a group of 6 traveling together but we had booked 3 rooms separately, so the manager (Ed) was not initially aware we were together. I emailed prior to arrival and found out they wanted to separate us by placing us in one of their sister properties. When I informed him that we were a group, he was nice enough to switch stuff around so that we could all be together. I really appreciated that. Casa Caribe is essentially across from the Marriott so you are right in the heart of Condado. People seem to complain about noise in previous reviews, but we had full days and nights, so I always had great sleep. Rooms in this B&B are all different, I stayed in room 10 on the 1st floor which was pretty small, but had what I needed - a clean, comfortable bed, hot water, working a/c, and as a bonus lots of cable channels - I watched the ID channel at 4am one night!. One weird thing - we couldn't hear sound on CBS (my husband wanted to watch football). There was also a safe that did not work in there. My 2 other friends stayed in room 11 on the 2nd floor right above us and had a much more spacious room with 2 queen beds, a kitchenette with a fridge/stovetop, dishes, and an extra mattress. 2 other friends stayed in room 9, which had a twin and a full, and they said it was really small and the hot water did not work so I would avoid that one. The B&B has a continental-style breakfast with some pastries, coffee, toast and while I did enjoy their coffee, I wouldn't rely on it for a real meal because it's all very carby and zero protein. I more of ate my pastry as a snack to hold me over for a real meal. They do have beach towels at the front, but they run out, so it's best to get them whenever they are in there and keep it in your room until you head to the beach. The best thing about this place is they have sister properties, one has a small pool we did not visit (we were in PR for the beach!) and the other has a huge beautiful hot tub which we hung out in the middle of the night with no problems...you can even play music as you sit in the tub and as long as its not ridiculous they don't mind. The property has towels so all you have to do is get over there. I forget the name, but it's down Ashford toward Ocean Park, and you can ask whoever is at the desk for assistance. If you're interested, that property also has a fancier restaurant that we did not try. Another great thing is that on our last day before we flew out, we were able to go to the beach in the morning before our flights because El Canario, another sister property, allowed us to store our luggage and had a shower available for use. I loved Ed, the manager at Casa Caribe, because he offers suggestions on where to go and what to do in PR that are very helpful, so we were able to see and do everything we were hoping for in our 5 day stay. He also provided good restaurant, car rental, bus, sight seeing recommendations. I loved being able to chat with him and have personal attention vs. a generic hotel concierge that will direct you to tourist traps. He directed us to take the bus to Isla Verde for only $0.75, which was awesome. No, this is not a high end hotel, but if you are looking to save money on lodging so you can spend your money on experiencing Puerto Rico, I would totally recommend for you to stay here!! And while you are there, make sure to hit up La Placita to party and go get a burger and fries in the middle of the night from Buns next door!
