I had an awful experience with this hotel. After my flight was cancelled, I was stranded late at night with my 3-year-old child. No one ever showed up to check us in, despite multiple calls. I was hung up on twice when I tried to ask where the desk agent was. I never even got to stay at the hotel — and they still took my money and are refusing to issue a refund. The customer service was completely unprofessional and uncaring. The place looked rundown from the outside too. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone. Stay far away!

I'm not going to whine about the negative aspects of this place because Anna was awesome, she took the time to explain to is that there were other properties we could access, she arranged for a taxi to pick us up and take us to the airport at 2 am. The gentlemen that worked the desk told us nothing about the extra amenities. This place is okay for a quick trip of you don't plan on spending time in the room. It was simple just a bed and a bathroom. The property could use a serious upgrade, but we had clean towels in our room everyday, the property was kept clean. The area is excellent everything is just a block away.Anna saved the day!! If it weren't for any this place would have gotten 2 stars🤷🏾‍♀️

Ana and Eddy treated me and my three children as if we were family. We had a long layover and opted to stay here. Whereas some places might say “No hay cama pa tanta gente!”, Ana and Eddy ensured that we were comfortable and had extra sheets, pillows and towels. The inn is in an excellent location especially if you’re walking/ubering. I was amazed to find this little area in Condado. Muchas Gracias!

My air conditioning stopped working at midnight. I called the front desk, and apparently, no one covers after midnight. I then called the emergency number provided but got no answer or response. I slept all night without air conditioning in Puerto Rico. I finally reached someone around 9:00 a.m., who told me to unplug and plug the unit back in. I tried that, but it still did not work. So I called the front desk again; the same person answered. I told him that unplugging and plugging it back in did not work, and he said he would be right there. When he arrived at my room, he pushed every button on the unit but could not get it to work. He then called maintenance and housekeeping, and both arrived. The housekeeping person did something, and it started working. The only problem is it is now 9:30 a.m., and I have to check out by 11:00 a.m.

If you are looking for something modern, this is not the place. We spent 1 night here, and it served its purpose. The staff was friendly, the room was clean and the bed was comfortable.

Google
Worst experience ever! We called in advance that we will be coming late in the night, but when we came there was nobody at the desk. Apparently they have a day off every Tuesday night so if you have a late check in - you just can't do that. The only solution our booking app suggested is to cancel the whole stay and book something else around for 3x price. We had to walk around the streets until the morning and wait for someone to come.

Google
The worst DIRTY, MOLD, rude service LOUD noise at 7:30am-8:30am with them doing some drilling and sink clogged up No hot water and the fridge doesn'twork. We bought 5 days and leaving on the first. WASTE OF MONEY my first time in Puerto Rico and this is not a good start.

Google
For starters no one at the front desk, you have to call and someone will come. No bar or breakfast as in some photos. There was leftover drinks in our fridge. Musky smell in the halls and room. We wiped down our end table. Holes in the walls and stained carpets. A couch that must have came from a dumpster, hurt to sit on it. The bed was a good pass but that was it. We paid for 4 nights and left after the first.

Yelp
THE WORST DISGUISED AS THE BEST DO NOT WASTE YOU MONEY - I got a room for seven days and stayed only four days and left the nightmare... No parking anywhere and very hard to find, Windows tha... Date of stay: August 2024

Yelp
DIRTY UNSAFE DUMP!!! Stayed 1 night...to be exact 6 hours due to not having access to the Airbnb we rented. It was the cheapest and only place available near by late at night. The place looked sketchy from the moment we entered and only got worse. Smelled like a liquor store!! Could not be any dirtier and worst of all our room door DID NOT LOCK!!! Needless to say we did not sleep, did not even take off our clothes. We sat on the bed because we had no choice...talked until the sun came out at 6am and ESCAPED this NIGHTMARE‼

Yelp
The hotel is not what you would expect from the area it is of the housekeeping staff made the place so much better. We had no clean clothes, i saw him washing so i asked him. This guy not only washed our clothes for next to nothing, but also drooped the clothes neat, washed and folded to our room with no time to spare. Because of him i give this place 5 stars. Christopher muchisimas gracias por el trabajo que haces co toda humilda GRACIAS

Yelp
this "hotel" is dark, dated and dirty. it's a .5 star quality space / motel which should be advertised as such. the Casa del Caribe Inn shouldn't be rated in a hotel category. the website is deceiving and should be required to update its pictures for the entire space every 3-6 months to show the customer what they are really paying for. The concierge wasn't at the desk when I arrived at 3:12AM to check in , and I waited outside on the sidewalk for 18 minutes before another hotel guest finally let me into the Hotel.the phone number provided for the hotel on the gate was disconnected , and I waited for the concierge to return from the sister hotel to finally check in at 3:38AM. the "free coffee" was reheated from the prior day. all of the ceilings were full of spider webs. the room was dark and dirty. the alley that led to my room along with the common spaces were extremely dark and dim. the location of Casa del Caribe Inn along with the cleaning/ laundry guy personality was the best thing at Casa del Caribe Inn.

Yelp
This place is a dump, and poorly run. 1. I arrived shortly after 2pm for 4pm check in, hoping to leave my bags. The open air lobby was behind a locked gate and no one would open the gate. I called the hotel number and someone off premise answered and said someone will be there by 3pm. He showed up after 4:00. 2. The lobby was filled with dead leaves as was the stagnant mosquito pond. Filthy. 3. March 18th and the Christmas decorations were still up. Makes you wonder if they clean anything. 4. All of the hurricane shutters in my room were broken so I couldn't open them to let air or light in my room- it was like a dark jail cell. But jail cells usually have windows. 5. There wasn't any soap, shampoo, or even a cheap plastic cup in the room. Reception was deserted shortly after I checked in. I went to the store to buy soap, shampoo, cups, and batteries for the remote.

Yelp
I would have to give this place a negative 1 million stars rating!!!!!! The most disgusting, pathetic, terrifying excuse of an inn!! Embarrassed to say I actually went thru with check in after the place was totally unstaffed. All rooms keyed alike as well as front gate. Bathrooms scary and disgusting. Rooms haven't been cleaned or updated in maybe 50 years! Tub was moldy! Floors not mopped! Jail cells look better! Please do not stay here . This place should be condemned. I think it's actually used as a crack house. See pictures for yourself. DO NOT STAY HERE! Save yourself the horror.

Yelp
I booked this place from booking.com and I feel like I was catfished. The photos the management submitted must be from 20 years ago. The place is a run down dump. The paint is chipped. The windows won't open. All the towel racks in the bathroom are gone... apparently ripped off the walls. One guy on the staff is great. The rest are assholes.

Yelp
Worst crappy looking place ever. We didn't even stay here because of how it looked in person. Don't let the photos fool you. It didn't look like a safe place to stay so we just booked else where and took our losses for safety. It obviously fooled another guest who stayed there and told us the same thing when he first saw the place. It looks nothing like the photos so don't let their photos fool you. You have been warned. Please check my review on trip advisor.

Yelp
Advertised very differently than what it actually was. The rooms were very small and dirty, there were holes in the ceilings and blood on the walls as well as black mold in the shower. The bed had bugs in it that bit us and left marks all over our bodies. The dirtiest place to stay at and a complete waste of money

Yelp
I found this hotel through a deal on Travelocity and I'm so glad I did. My hotel was free with my package, so I was afraid I would get a horrible room since I wasn't putting any money in their pockets. But when I checked in and went to my room, I had a king bed AND a twin along the other wall (a lot for just me!) and the bathroom was cleaner than some of the reviews I'd seen elsewhere had led me to expect. First, the hotel itself: The front desk is only staffed from 9a-5p each day, so issues after hours need to be directed to their sister hotels nearby. Thankfully, I had no such issues. The employees were very kind and helpful. My a/c worked well (almost too well). I couldn't figure out how to turn my ceiling fan off, so my room was super cool the first night. No carpet in the hotel room, either, which is a huge bonus when coming back from the beach. Location: This is a great location. There are two restaurants across the street, you're a 5-minute walk from the Marriott if you're in the mood to hit the casino, and 5-6 minutes from the beach. There is both a CVS and a Walgreen one block away, and so many restaurants within walking distance. When I come back to PR, if I stay in Condado, I will definitely book here again.

Yelp
My friend and I were staying at a hostel and it was about 40 total, we were not comfortable at all staying there. So, we found this for a little over 10 dollars more and so close to the beach. It's 3 min walk to condado beach. It's not the best hotel but if you are on a budget it's great! You will be paying almost as much as a hostel since hostels arent that cheap in San Juan. Customer service was great. When we checked in the employee gave us plenty details about the hotel and even recommendations on places to go. There were clean bedrooms, and working AC. The bathroom needed a little work but hey its better staying here than a hostel that their AC doesn't work and having to share room with other people. Don't expect valet or any of those fancy accommodations. It's a low budget hotel. Also, I thought it was great because all though they don't have pools, they allow you to use the pools of 2 of their sister hotels which is a 15 min walk.

Yelp
This was a great place to stay the night. Reserved and quiet for a restful sleep. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are clean, the floors are well swept and mopped. A small safe box was a nice touch to keep valuables stored. The shower was good with hot water. The staff was great and helpful. I will stay here again. It was a comfortable relaxed night.

Marc P.

Yelp
Eddy (the owner) couldn't be kinder or more accomodating. The room was super clean, the location was perfect in the center of Condado, and Eddy was always willing to help with recommendations and ideas to make your stay one to enjoy and remember. I'll most definitely be coming back.

Yelp
My boyfriend & I were on vacation in PR. We rented an Airbnb and had to be out of the airbnb by 11am & we had time to kill before our 7pm flight . We found this Inn close by and booked a spot ASAP. It is in a great location , close to the beach and restaurants (less than 1min walk ) . Eddy was so kind to us and make our check in so easy and he gave us an early check in so we went from the Airbnb to the hotel without any hassle. He was so sweet & made us feel very at home .

Paul R.

Yelp
My son and I had a shirt stay of 4 days in PR and stayed in this Inn. Eddy (receptionist) is a really sweet guy and makes sure you have a wonderful stay and since it was our first time in PR, he made sure we were well informed on the activities we can take part in and how to access basic necessities. It is a great location, really close to the beach, restaurants all around the area and access to supermarkets (Walgreens and Fresh Market). It was a good room as well, clean, working AC, ample storage area and the room maintenance is quite good based on the fact that they are restricted from doing many things due to covid, such as physically cleaning the room when guests are staying there.

Yelp
Cute little hotel in Condado..few minutes walking distance from the beach! $3-$6 uber ride from old san juan as well. Before I booked this, I was skeptical about this place but it fitted all my needs! The receptionist was very helpful and informative since it was my first time in Puerto Rico. The only flaw was that I felt the AC didn't leave my room as cool as it was supposed too. I put it on maximum cool but my room still felt warm at the end of the day. Perhaps it wasn't working properly or they had to change the filter? It wasn't that bad but it would have been better if it left my room a bit more colder. Besides that, I would definitely come back to this place when I come back to Puerto Rico! It was cheap to book here as well and was great to stay in during my small vacation in P.R. I would definitely recommend this place especially if you are on a budget!

Yelp
This hotel wasn't clean. Sheets weren't clean hair all over from last people who stayed there. Bathtub was full of hair looked like somebody shaved and they didn't clean the room at all. Pictures are a lie. I stayed in room 5. And when I got there I just wanted to run out that place not even closed to the pictures they have on Yelp. Bed wasn't comfortable at all I could feel the wires from the mattress in the pictures It looked really nice and clean well it wasn't even closed to the pictures. We moved to another hotel. Not recommended. Especially it you have kids. No refrigerator no keep water or any beverage. Space it's really limited in the rooms.

Yelp
Very good place if you have a low budget for your trip! Nice staff, clean room and clean bathroom, air conditioner works perfectly (which is VERY important in San Juan), decent beds! Nothing bad to say about the hotel. Yes its true they do not offer a super breakfast but I think it goes along with the pice. And the best thing about it is its location, 5 min walking from the beach and 2 minutes walking to a main road with bars and restaurants! I would go back and recommend it to a friend!

Yelp
I would not stay here again. Pros: - 1 block away from all the restaurants and shops on Ashford Street - Wifi available Cons: - Dirty - the light switches are crusted with dirt and I found a cockroach in the shower - Broken - the drawers fall out of the dressers when you pull them out more than 6 inches, the toilet lid is cracked, intermittent or no hot water during showers, and the windows didn't open because the crank is broken - Loud - the air conditioning is loud and so are the coqui frogs outside - Mosquitos - the door isn't sealed tightly enough to keep them out while you're sleeping... I was even bit in the face overnight - No concierge service - you will have to walk to a hotel 1-2 blocks away to check-in after hours I'm not saying you shouldn't stay here if you are on a budget, but hopefully this will help you realize what you are paying for. I have pictures to back up my review.

Clifford T.

Yelp
Excellent hotel, much thanks to Omar. Everyone was welcoming and flexible, as well as providing great service. I attended a wedding, and all of the staff went out of the way to provide help with transportation, as well as leaving a delivered gift basket in my room. I plan to come back to this hotel on future visits to San Juan. Great deal and easy access to the city.

Yelp
i believe that Casa Caribe has been updated since some of these reviews. I stayed for 4 nights and was very comfortable, felt safe, and one block off the main drag. Bed is extremely comfortable, A/C is cold. Its an older building but clean and maintained, as are most buildings in the Caribbean that are not cookie cutter hotel. If you are not spending the day in hotel room, why pay for a view and extra amenities? Ed the owner is friendly and offers tips for dinner and local area. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to save $ for eating out and shopping but feel safe and homey. Catch city bus to OSJ at CVS one block away for 75 cents . enjoy!

Connie P.

Yelp
Small hotel, homey atmosphere. We stayed here for 5 days in may. Ed the owner was great. When we checked in we were surprised to find he had given us a free room upgrade. The rooms are clean, the beds comfy and the outside area lovely. There's a small garden in the courtyard that makes you feel like you are out in the country rather than in the middle of codondo. This isn't a 5 star hotel with pool and exercise room. Its a nice hotel with reasonable rates and a very welcoming feeling about it. The beach is right across the street and shops , bars and restaraunts are all within walking distance. Ed will arrange for a variety of tours for you, if you like otherwise you can catch the local bus almost anywhere you want to go. The only negative I will say is that I advise you to try and check in during the day rather than at night as there isn't always someone at the desk to let you in and the front gate is kept locked at all times. Other than that, you can't beat this hotel.

Yelp
We spent one night at this simple bed & breakfast in order to see some of Condado after 2 nights in Old San Juan at El Convento. No sense in comparing a luxury hotel with a bargain B & B costing 1/3 the amount. We got what we paid for and were satisfied. Conveniently located 1/2 block from the main drag, the Marriott casino/hotel and the beach, making for easy strolling. The rooms are adequate without frills, and the courtyard is very nice. Breakfast is continentally carb-rich, but nice to have outside under the fine trees and plantings, inhabited by Coqui frogs who sing at night. The owner/staff are very friendly and helpful.

Yelp
I had an amazing time in Puerto Rico thanks to this hotel. I went with a group of friends. We were four in total and we all fit in two queen beds. It was super cheap which is great for us young professionals. We were walking distance from the Marriott where the pickup was for our tours. We were 5 minutes away from the beach and different restaurants. The staff was very helpful and nice. This is not a super fancy hotel but for what you pay for is way more than worth it. Plus, if you stay inside a hotel to see all the little cracks, you are not enjoying your vacation enough.

T R.

Yelp
Don't let those gorgeous photos fool you, this is NOT how the hotel looks like today, after hurricane Maria! They've dumped all their trash to their street, so instead of that gorgeous terrace, you get a pile of trash in front of the hotel! Also, bring bug spray, because those tires are massive breeding ground for dengue and Zika mosquitoes, especially with the recent rainstorms.

Vivian R.

Yelp
This Bed and breakfast is in bad shape . Deteriorated , bed uncomfortable , reception service, when available is rough, no parking, nearby parking are outrageously expensive, only good for people who have no idea what 3 or 4 stars hotels are. Not worth the savings at all. Breakfast poorly provided. Look somewhere else.

Clarissa M.

Yelp
First of all, our booking was for a hotel called Casa del Caribe. When we called to get the address of Casa del Caribe we were informed that our reservation had been changed to their sister location called El Canario Boutique Hotel. If Yelp allowed negative stars I would give El Canario Boutique at least a minus 3. A lot is wrong with this place. The room photos they show on yelp look NOTHING like the room we had. Our room barely had room to fill the full bed (not a queen). The shower curtain and front door had mold. The decorative pillows on the bed were filthy. We asked for an iron and we were told they were out of irons at the moment. We were offered a blow drier instead?!?! There was no telephone in the room. And when we realized there were no bath towels and washcloths, we called the front desk (from our cell phone) to get some sent up and were told that housekeeping was closed for the day (around 4pm) and would not be returning until 10am the next day. AVOID BOTH OF THESE PLACES AT ALL COSTS!!!

Yelp
I'm giving this place 5 stars based on their customer service, location, and cost effectiveness. This is a place you choose if you want a basic, low-cost, safe place to sleep at night while you are out enjoying Puerto Rico. If you want a resort that has pools, casinos, so much you don't want to leave, this is not it. The rooms were only about $70/night. We were a group of 6 traveling together but we had booked 3 rooms separately, so the manager (Ed) was not initially aware we were together. I emailed prior to arrival and found out they wanted to separate us by placing us in one of their sister properties. When I informed him that we were a group, he was nice enough to switch stuff around so that we could all be together. I really appreciated that. Casa Caribe is essentially across from the Marriott so you are right in the heart of Condado. People seem to complain about noise in previous reviews, but we had full days and nights, so I always had great sleep. Rooms in this B&B are all different, I stayed in room 10 on the 1st floor which was pretty small, but had what I needed - a clean, comfortable bed, hot water, working a/c, and as a bonus lots of cable channels - I watched the ID channel at 4am one night!. One weird thing - we couldn't hear sound on CBS (my husband wanted to watch football). There was also a safe that did not work in there. My 2 other friends stayed in room 11 on the 2nd floor right above us and had a much more spacious room with 2 queen beds, a kitchenette with a fridge/stovetop, dishes, and an extra mattress. 2 other friends stayed in room 9, which had a twin and a full, and they said it was really small and the hot water did not work so I would avoid that one. The B&B has a continental-style breakfast with some pastries, coffee, toast and while I did enjoy their coffee, I wouldn't rely on it for a real meal because it's all very carby and zero protein. I more of ate my pastry as a snack to hold me over for a real meal. They do have beach towels at the front, but they run out, so it's best to get them whenever they are in there and keep it in your room until you head to the beach. The best thing about this place is they have sister properties, one has a small pool we did not visit (we were in PR for the beach!) and the other has a huge beautiful hot tub which we hung out in the middle of the night with no problems...you can even play music as you sit in the tub and as long as its not ridiculous they don't mind. The property has towels so all you have to do is get over there. I forget the name, but it's down Ashford toward Ocean Park, and you can ask whoever is at the desk for assistance. If you're interested, that property also has a fancier restaurant that we did not try. Another great thing is that on our last day before we flew out, we were able to go to the beach in the morning before our flights because El Canario, another sister property, allowed us to store our luggage and had a shower available for use. I loved Ed, the manager at Casa Caribe, because he offers suggestions on where to go and what to do in PR that are very helpful, so we were able to see and do everything we were hoping for in our 5 day stay. He also provided good restaurant, car rental, bus, sight seeing recommendations. I loved being able to chat with him and have personal attention vs. a generic hotel concierge that will direct you to tourist traps. He directed us to take the bus to Isla Verde for only $0.75, which was awesome. No, this is not a high end hotel, but if you are looking to save money on lodging so you can spend your money on experiencing Puerto Rico, I would totally recommend for you to stay here!! And while you are there, make sure to hit up La Placita to party and go get a burger and fries in the middle of the night from Buns next door!

Yelp
This very tiny hotel is perfect for a bed to sleep in, close to the beach behind the Marriot, the Gitana, Walgreens, and the Condado shops/restaurants/bars. I shared a full-sized bed with my sister because when I wanted to add her, they were full. The room had A/C and fan, a TV, small closet, dressers, and bathtub with shower. We got new towels every day (small & white) and you can use the blue towels to go to the pool/beach. The Canario hotel is the sister hotel. You can use some of their sister properties for their pools (I forget which one). They don't serve breakfast until 8 AM, so if you're conference starts at 8 AM you miss the included breakfast which includes just cereal, milk, OJ, small pastries like croissants, wheat muffins, and some other sweet breads. The rooms could definitely use some upgrades in terms of the paint, tile, and bathrooms. The wood floors are the nice item in the rooms. The hallways don't have A/C. They have wi-fi in the common area. The desk is cluttered with papers. You also have to keep your key so that you can open the gate to get into the hotel area. The airport costs from the airport to the hotel was $21. The sheets and towels are nothing special or nice. I'd give this place 3 stars except that when I first left to the airport I had left behind some (expensive) things. When I returned they had put all my things aside and helped me find some things so I gotta give them credit for saving my things instead of throwing them out. Great place if you're just going to be out on the town most of the time.
