Casa di Annalena is in an absolutely stunning old building with gorgeous details to admire while you walk up to the second floor. The ceilings are maybe 20 feet high, so it’s a bit more steps to get to the second floor than a standard US building, but if you’re able to climb, it’s fun to imagine all that’s happened in that building over the last hundreds of years as you walk up. The woman at the front desk was so kind - walked us to our room & showed us how to use the keys (fun old locks!) and was so quick at unlocking the door whenever she heard us coming up the stairs (I’m both impressed at her peripheral vision and concerned that I’m a stomper haha).
We were in room 20 with a terrace, which unfortunately we didn’t really get to use since we had rainy days, but it was still lovely to look out and see all the plants. I’m sure it’s so peaceful when it’s dry out. The only complaint is that the mattress is quite firm, but that’s more of a personal preference than the fault of the hotel. If you prefer softer mattresses with more give, you may not be the most comfortable, but the location, beauty, and historic charm may be enough to make it worth it! My partner slept soundly, so it’s not a terrible mattress, it just isn’t what my body prefers. Overall, worth a stay at a hotel that is clearly cared for by the staff.
